What you'll do

The time of day we go out will be pre-determined by forecast tides and conditions and the experience will take up approximately three hours. I'll take you on a snorkeling journey of our beautiful, turquoise tidal pools. They're filled with life and wonderful diversity! To see pics of many of the species of our tidal pools and more info, check out www.wildblueadventures.co.za. Each pool is its own special gem and the locations are stunning. We will meet at Cape Town Freedivers or Pisces Divers where we'll collect kit, and we'll move on to the tidal pool from there. At the pool we will take in the beauty and kit up. After a snorkelling brief, I will take you out on our tidal pool adventure. While we're in the water I'll take some happy snaps that I'll share with you later that evening. After our snorkel we'll head to a handpicked deli or coffee shop nearby if you feel that way inclined. I'll take your kit and you're free to savour the experience for the rest of the day! The experience takes 3 hours including coffee afterward. Or we can snorkel for longer and skip it - we are flexible!

I'm a qualified adventure freediver, open water diver and someone who absolutely loves the ocean and its creatures great and small. I have been diving for 15 years and have lived in Cape Town close to our most beautiful sites for 10 years. I work in nature documentaries, and have learned an immense amount about our oceans here in Cape Town through this too. I want to share this treasure with you! The beautiful tidal pools are the best place to start.

Where you'll be

We will explore the tidal pools of Cape Town along the southeast peninsula of False Bay. Each has its own history and all are set in glorious locations along the shore of the Indian Ocean. The finer details are the treasures here. I will guide you to tune in from the wider panorama, to the pool’s locality, to relaxing as you enter the water to take in this peaceful underwater tapestry and its inhabitants.

We had to rearrange the dates to work with the weather. The day we were supposed to go there was gusting winds, so Yvette made sure to look far enough ahead so that we would have an enjoyable snorkeling experience and that the weather would cooperate. On the day of, Yvette ended up getting an ear infection but made sure we were still covered and went with her friend Lindy. Lindy was wonderful! We had a fantastic experience and, with it being my first snorkeling experience, Lindy was patient and helped me along as I got more comfortable. We had just such a great time and are still talking about how wonderful the snorkeling was. Just awesome!

We went snorkeling in the tidal pool on Valentine's Day. Lindy the co-host of the day had a lot of background information and explained a lot to us. We felt very comfortable and had a great time!

It was amazing. We laughed a lot and Yvette was able to tell us a little about the little sea creatures. She swam with us and took photos. We will definitely be back and would be happy to recommend the experience.

Very approachable snorkeling adventure even for beginners. The water gets a bit cold after a while, but we had a wonderful time. Yvette is great at spotting all the details and tiny creatures in the pool and pointing them out. I got up close and personal with an octopus.

Magical, wonderful, enchanting, beautiful soul enriching experience. Yvette is a fantastic guide and human. She’s fully aware of every nook and cranny in the tidal pool and nearby open waters. We enjoyed snorkeling with her as she really connects with each individual. You will see an abundance of joyful creatures, even if the weather’s not perfect. Get off your screen and put your snorkeling gear on, it’s great fun to be had.

Lindy, the co-host of the day was really knowledgeable and passionate. It was really fun hanging out with her and I will definitely dive with her again, when I am back in Cape Town. It was a totally unique experience. I would’ve never noticed the amount of life in those pools!
