What you'll do

We'll start our experience by meeting in the village of Pontneddfechan where I will give a brief chat about safety and health / first aid. Then we'll set off! We will follow one of the four rivers in the Beautiful Waterfalls area of the Brecon Beacons, through the shaded valley that encompasses the Elidir Trail - the Fairly Glen - visiting some of the most dramatic waterfalls in the National Park including Sgwd Gwladus where'll I'll talk to you about the legend of the Princess, and Sgwd Ddwli. Then we will make our way to 'the Bridge by the Little Mill' where we'll stop lunch. After our break we will return back to Pontneddfechan where I can recommend a local hostelry for child - friendly post - walk refreshment!

Having been brought up on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, I have a detailed local knowledge of the National Park. I have undergone full MTA Mountain Leader training and I hold an Advanced Outdoor First Aid Certificate as well as a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. In addition I am a full member of the British Mountaineering Council and Chair of a local Mountaineering Club

I run a range of experiences, so if you would like to do one of my others on a time and date where it isn't showing as available, then please let me know as I may be able to 'shuffle' things around for you.

Finally, we may also be able to help with accommodation too as my partner runs 'Ty Gwyn Mawr' AirBnB in a beautiful part of Abergavenny.

Where you'll be

'Waterfalls Country' in the Brecon Beacons is one of the most dramatic parts of South Wales. Full of myths and legends, the area has a rich history of industrialisation and tourism. Visiting the area with a local guide ensures that your experience of the area is both rich and fulfilling.

The Elidir Trail is the home of the fairies. Shaded, leafy and secluded, we will have to tread carefully so that we don't disturb them!

Very nice discovering the Brecon Beacons with Huw. Him and his daughter Sophie were great company for the walk! We went pretty close to waterfalls, got great pictures and amazing hot chocolate and lunch! Would totally recommend!

Thanks to Huw for going above and beyond for us. We were a small group (just the two of us) but it didn’t deter him from giving 100%. Offering us different perspectives on the walk was especially appreciated.

What to bring

You should bring clothes that are appropriate for the weather. The terrain is mixed underfoot so you should wear sturdy shoes or walking boots, and I'd also suggest that you bring along something to drink while you're walking.
