What you'll do

Starting at the gate and information board at the entrance to Ballachulish quarry, we will take a walk around the quarry and learn about it fascinating history and its connection with the creation of the NHS before walking to view the remaining slate arch, where slate was transported to the harbour to be shipped all round the world. We will then go in search of the unique slate boat houses and fence posts, taking in a wander round the bank to view the burial island and along the coast to the site of the ancient hill fort, looking for otters and eagles as we go. We will then visit the 'witches' grave before heading back to the quarry via the Shinty pitch and old railway station.

We'll then walk around the quarry and to the Slate arch where wagons once took the slate to the shore and then we'll cross the road and head to the Bank to view Eilean munde and some of the slate boathouses and then we'll head round the bay to the old hill fort and on to the 'Witches' grave before making our way back to the quarry
