What you'll do

-Let's meet up at the Kichijoji station!
-Sit down co-working table. Chose the example from the guide book I give.
-Set the situation that you want to draw. I'll help you imagine!
-If you are used to be drawing, please try making your own character and story.
-If you are a beginner, you can copy an example.

-------How to draw---------
-Draw guidelines and rough with pencil.*
-Inking with ink and pen.*
-Finishing with some specific tools.*

*) I will demonstrate and suggest tips for these steps.
----------------

Basically, my class is going with the guide book which I made. But I can arrange if you have some specific object or character that you want to draw!

More examples by the guests are in my Instagram stories and highlights >>> https://www.instagram.com/yutsubu/

I look forward to having you join us!

Japanese manga are comics or graphic novels created in Japan. Published as weekly, monthly, seasonally magazines, web app, paperback. Almost all Japanese anime have original manga. Traditional manga works are drawn by black ink and gray screen tone on the paper. Lately, artists (authors) use some digital tools.
In my class, let's try the traditional way to draw!

Hi there! I'm Yu, working as a MANGA artist after I graduate from Tokyo University of the Arts. I used to be making serial comics on a web app for 3 years as a contract artist, and was teaching drawing to high school students for 6 years in parallel. Now I make short comics requested by Japanese companies.

I really love traveling! After came back to Japan, I publish my travel journal as a comic form by my self as much as I can.
I'd say local experiences are most important during traveling. Since I wondered is there anything unique I can offer to the traveler in Tokyo, I started this Airbnb experience. I'll share not only tips and knowledge of drawing Japanese manga, but also where to get drawing tools in Tokyo if you wish.

Let's have fun with drawing!

Yu and the Manga experience was great. She met us at the train station, walked us to her cute studio, and had a whole agenda for us to go through. She was able to customize the experience for both me and my friend who went in ready to draw different things and it turned out really well. One aspect that I thought was great was the personalization. Yu asked us if we drew before, if we had any past examples, if we had any experience with manga, and any interesting story or scene we wanted to draw, which allowed us to jump right in. Thankfully, we had some bit of drawing experience but both hadn't really done manga before. It was great and would highly recommend. Yu and the manga experience was great; we event got to take home a scanned cover with our own final manga drawing at the end!

It was a very educational experience. I highly recommend for anybody interested in manga. We had never drawn anything before the experience but all of our stuff turned out great and we left with a great souvenir and more information on how to continue to learn.

I traveled to Japan with 2 thirteen year old boys who are really into the Japanese culture and particularly Anime and Manga. I didn't know anything about it but loved this experience. I am no artist by any means and left with some new skills, lots of laughs and two very happy boys. Thank you so much for teaching us and being a great experience for me and my family!! Highly recommend!
