What you'll do

This tour takes you to the unique volcanic landscape which is located right on the east coast of the island. We will start at the Intercambiador de Santa Cruz and ride the local bus to Güímar. Then we will hike the fairly easy, 10-kilometer trail called the Malpaís de Güímar (Badlands of Güímar). The trail goes around an extinct volcano that erupted more than 10,000 years ago. The trail will lead us to the sea where we can see a small fishing village still active today. This beautiful landscape host a variety of native Cacti and other succulent plants as well as the Lagartos Tizones (black and blue lizards) and the remains of the eruption which left behind lava flow and tubes.

Halfway around the trail we will stop at a scenic spot for a break at which time we can eat a quick lunch. Bring whatever lunch you would like to eat. After the trail is completed, we will head back to our starting point.

If you have any question regarding this tour or any of my other tours, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be happy to provide additional information and assistance. If you are traveling from the south of the island, please let me know so to provide you a different meeting point.

My partner, Ramon, and I are both long time outdoor and nature enthusiasts. During college I became extremely interested in geology, and took many courses related to nature such as: Natural Disasters, Ecology, Oceanography, Environment Science & Sustainability and Earth Science. Ramon is a native of Tenerife, a keen amateur volcanologist, and long time member of a local environmental organization called Volcanoes of the Canary Islands. We enjoy sharing our local knowledge with others, and have been offering personalized tours to our Airbnb guests over the past years.
