What you'll do

We will pick you up from your hotel at 9:00 and we will go to Bahía López, after a brief stop at Punto Panorámico.
We will make a walk in the forest, of low difficulty (45 min), until we reach a very nice viewpoint of the Brazo Tristeza.
We will continue to Colonia Suiza and have some free time to walk the streets, learn about its culture, taste regional products, enjoy folklore and the atmosphere of the fair.
We will see the preparation of the Curanto: a ceremony of the Araucanian gastronomy where food is cooked by the heat of stones, placed in a hole in the ground, covered with leaves of Maqui or Nalca, wet canvases and finally covered everything with dust.
While the Curanto is cooking underground, we will visit a trout farm on the shores of Lake Moreno. It is the first site to engage in fish farming through floating cages on this lake, where we will see the trout at different stages of growth and they will explain the entire production process.
Lunch options (*): Curanto, trout, various options at the fair in Colonia Suiza.

I've lived in Bariloche for 30 years. I organize explorations by paths enabled to incredible corners of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. I'm a passionate about the paradise that surrounds us and we look for those who visit us to enjoy it in depth.

In this new experience, I wanted to offer a different proposal where tourists can enjoy regional cuisine and learn about the culture of Colonia Suiza. The architecture of the houses, the food and the customs of the people make this place an obligatory point in your visit to Bariloche.

In this all-day excursion we will visit this beautiful place and some activities of the typical gastronomy of the region.

The personalized tour leading to the Swiss Colony - watching the preparation of the curanto (araucana specialty) and then having the dish made, visiting the trout farm, walking, and tasting at the local brewery, was quite interesting and diverse, and differed from the common of the always equal roadmaps offered by operators. Matias and Jose who accompanied us - we were a group of 6 Brazilians - were extremely friendly. I recommend for those who have already known the main points of Bariloche, and want to know a little more about the unique places of this beautiful city!
