We will be day hiking, lasting from 4 hours to 7 hours. Trails from moderate to aggressively moderate and miles covering 4-8 miles. This trip is for novice hikers to some experience hiking preferred. All hiker should know their physical abilities, especially in this altitude. All are welcome!

FIRST-We will meet at a good meeting place. Then drive, or carpool depending on group size, to the trailhead and start our prep for the trail. Prep will include gather all essential items for the hike, discussing our plan in more detail so everyone knows, and last minute questions or personal time to get ready. Then we will make our way up the mountain! I will point out interesting things along the way, but feel free to ask any questions!

ON TRAIL-Once the hike begins, we can customize the adventure to the groups desire. Stopping for snacks or view points, photos, or anything to make it one of the most memorable trips for you. All you need to do is ask!

ENDING- We will arrive back at the trailhead, take a minute to reflect on the adventure, and talk about anything the group would like too before heading back to the meeting loaction.

Hi! My name is Nic. I am originally from Alabama where I found my love for the outdoors. While there, I taught a wide variety of outdoor education for many years. From hiking, canoeing, orienteering, and local ecology. That brought me out west to work and play in the mountains. My passion for hiking started off on day hikes and quickly grew to completing multiple thru hikes of the John Muir Trail (JMT) and others! I live and play here in Breckenridge and enjoy its beauty every day. In the winter I teach skiing here in Breck, but love to climb and kayak. I am very passionate about taking people who are very interested in the places that I live and doing things I enjoy myself! I love getting to hike a trail no matter the difficultly, as long as I am out in nature. Getting to share that experience with others is what drives me!!

Where you'll be

We will be exploring in the High Country of the Rocky Mountains!! These trails are one of a couple experiences you can chose from, all in Summit County, 30 mins from Breckenridge. They will include some sort of CO wildlife, snow melt rivers, high mountain lake, and rocky mountain flowers. All trails are some of my favorites and some that most only locals get to. Depending on what your group selects, it will set you up for your unique experience!

Nic was awesome. My daughter and I wanted something that matched our experience and ability level and he was able to find the perfect trail for us. He made everything easy for us. I would definitely use Nic again when we come back.

I hike regularly, but on travel I like having a guide that knows the best hikes, the off-trail views, and has facts about the history/ecology/etc. Nic was all that and much more; he has a gift for communication and a genuine desire to share the area with visitors. I told him that I wanted a scenic but rigorous hike, but not one that was heavily trafficked, and he came up with the perfect trail. Want to have different options presented but make the decisions yourself, or to have someone else hold up the front? Need someone to take the perfect family pic, or someone to hold your gear while you practice photography? Want a quiet walk in the woods, or to learn about the science and history of mining in the area and local flora/fauna? Or maybe just to switch it up over an 8 mile trek through the mountains? Nic has it all, and a more laid back, likeable guide can not be found. We're looking forward to visiting Breck again in the winter for some ski lessons! 😁

Nick was the perfect companion and guide, an exceptionally sweet, patient... I am struggling to find the right words to explain his personal and professional skills, to summarize: he is the perfect guide. If you are planning a hike and are having the same worries I had about hiking, by hiring Nic, all you have to do is enjoy the experience. I’m an experienced hiker, but a recent experience on Mt. Washington in NH showed me even on popular trails you can suddenly find yourself in a dicey situation. My husband wanted to ride the mountains on a bike while we were in Breckenridge, I didn’t want to hike alone, wasn’t sure what to do when I found Nic. A more respectful, enjoyable, capable man does not exist. He teaches children to ski in the winter, I glimpsed how amazing he would be guiding a family hike. If you are a single woman like myself, Nic is the perfect companion who insists you chose the level of challenge, watches out for you, but also knows when to chat and when to listen to the incredible silence of the mountains. He shared my joy, helped to pause and look UP at the trees, out at a view — it was one of the nicest hiking experiences of my life. If you are not sure if need a guide, well, he pointed out the right trail to just about everyone we met, it’s really easy to get lost here! And we saw dozens of people heading out into what we knew was a coming storm, totally unprepared, not knowing what they don’t know about hiking here. I think whether you “need” a guide or not, you will enjoy having Nic in your group. Again, best hike EVER!
