What you'll do

Upon meeting in the grassy overlook of La Jolla Cove you will be fitted with your own personal snorkel gear and given your first bit of local knowledge of the area. After ten minutes of stretching and going over various snorkel techniques and safety precautions, the adventure begins. Greeted by the sounds of barking seals, we make our way down towards the water and A final lesson and pep talk is given just before we are submerged under water. With crystal clear blue water, the green sea grasses flowing in the current are accented by the bright oranges of the California State Fish, the Garibaldi. As we explore the sea floor we are often joined by the true locals, seals... they curiously swim around us before disappearing into the deep blue. As we gain confidence in the water we will begin to make the half mile swim, roundtrip, to the sea caves. Its entrance often guarded by seals jumping on and off the surrounding rocks. The high ceilings, abundant sea life, and ancient history of these caves give you a sense of wonder, awe, and curiosity of their past. Single file we exit the caves and begin to make our way back to the cove and continue exploring the reefs and enjoying the various sea life that surrounds us. At last we are safe ashore, ahh dry land and a shower never felt so good.

I am an avid surfer and waterman who spends as much time in the ocean as I can. I have lived in San Diego for 8+ years and during this time I have worked as a tour guide at the San Diego Museum of Man, a Surf Instructor, and a Snorkel Tour Guide. My knowledge of the history of San Diego, as well as, my first hand knowledge of both the land and sea, allow me to give each guest a unique experience tailored to their interests and skill level. This snorkel tour is an absolute MUST when visiting San Diego. Drake was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about snorkeling as well as San Diego/La Jolla in general including fun facts for the whole family. He made my mom and I feel very comfortable in the water and helped us see beautiful see grass, fish and seals and brought us on a little adventure through the beautiful and dramatic sea caves. Great value, highly recommend!

More tips
