What you'll do

Gain insight into the spiritual life of Thai Buddhists in Chiang Mai on this early morning cultural experience with a local.

1) Meet up at Pratu Chiang Mai in the morning, and have a close look at the local morning market. I'll show you different offerings available and different cultural meanings hidden behind each offering.

2) Join devotees to fill dozens of saffron-robed monks' alms bowls with offerings you pick at the morning market.

3) Enjoy a delicious Northern Thai breakfast in the morning market with locals.

4) Head to two hidden temples worshiped by locals. It will be great chance for you to appreciate thai culture and religion from the view of architecture. At the end, I'll introduce Thai weekday Buddhas and the right way to pray for blessings from Your Weekday Buddha.

Tony was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and passionate about sharing Thai culture with those willing to learn! Receiving blessings from the monks we saw felt special and the temples I visited were beautiful especially the silver temple!

Tony was fantastic! I was blessed to have a private tour where I could ask as many questions as I wanted to! I learned about customs of both Thailand and Buddhism. I also got to learn personal stories from Tony which made the experience that much more special. I would highly suggest his tour for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of tire traditions.

Wonderful experience. Tony was a great guide and being able to pick out food and offerings for the monks and going to the temple to pray was really special. Would definitely recommend.

Alms giving is one of the most interesting and rewarding activities that we have had in Chiangmai. It is the best way to enter deeply into the everyday life and the culture of local people. After this activity, We began to understand why there are always a smile and contentment on their faces. Mind is very mindful, just as her name suggests. The breakfast is ideal to be the first try of local food for a foreigner. The two temples that she took us to visit are not the most popular in Chiangmai but they are quieter than the other more famous ones and are definitely worth visiting.

Mind was absolutely lovely, she was on time, great communication, she was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The experience was very unique, got to know more about the Thai culture and specially about the monks and what they do, and why they do it. The offering, the blessing by the monk, the ride on the tuck-tuck and the visit to the temples was really special. Perfect way to start the day and enjoy another aspect of the beautiful city of Chiangmai. Thank Mind!!! Keep doing what you love! Good karma 😉
