After the encounter with this ethnic group, we will return to the port paddling our kayaks. Where they are waiting for us to return to Puno.

We’ve had a great time with Omar. Kayaking on lake Titicaca is a once in a lifetime opportunity and we’re glad we had the chance. Omar is a good guide. He told a lot about the lake and the environment. We recommend this trip!

This kayak tour was great to see the Islas de los Uros in a small group with lovely people. I would highly recommend this for a great way to see this unique culture.

We requested a special schedule as our flight from Cusco arrived around noon to Juliaca. We were a bit sceptical, because neither Omar nor his own company had any reviews at the time of our research. When we though we'd give him a chance, there was at least one other promising review. We absolutely don't regret the tour. Omar did everything to accommodate us, had a great knowledge of the region and was an amazing help with a few extra things we had to take care of. He picked us up from the airport in Juliaca (~1h to Puno) for an extra fee of 100 soles all together. Because of our tight schedule we didn't want to experiment with the bus or a local taxi. Because we didn't want to leave our luggage openly in his car, he drove us to the Puno bus terminal and also helped us to get information on how to cancel our existing bus tickets and supported us buying new tickets for departing the same day. After that we drove to the small port about 10 minutes away from the city. We got into quite new looking kayaks (which have a waterproof compartment) and paddled through the sometimes a little bit polluted reed areas. A safety motor boat accompanied us along the way and transported our day packs safely. The weather was nice, but because it was afternoon, the wind was quite strong. After about 40 minutes we got to the area of the floating islands where you can easily get lost, because they all look very similar. We stopped at an island of local people Omar works together with. He gave an explanation of the region and how the floating islands are constructed with a smaller scale example. We got a few minutes to take photos and of course got offered local products, such as self made blankets and boats. Unfortunately the unpredictable weather caused an abrubt end of the experience and we had to go back with the motor boat, instead of the kayaks. This cut our experience from 3 to 2 hours but it was the absolute right call, because we didn't have any waterproof equipment with us. We're very thankful for the support we got from Omar and are sure that this would have been absolutely impossible with almost any other tour operator. At the end he dropped us off in the city and have us a few restaurant suggestions.

Omar was very friendly, spoke good English, and clearly cared about what he was doing. We had a great experience and would recommend it to any level of kayaker or tourist. Felt much more personal having him translate to locals on Uros island as well .
