What you'll do

We will pick you up at a meeting point in the center of the city of Iguazu. After 45/50 minutes drive (through a paved national road) we will arrive at La Lorenza, our private reserve, nestled in the forest. The property is located on the Paraná River, in a farm area where local families live off the land. This is an invitation to sharpen our senses through an interpretative 1.25 miles walk. It’s a multi-sensory, informative experience, conducted by an expert guide who provides good information on the natural environment. We will also have the chance to visit a typical local house, the perfect place to be introduced to the mate world. With a machete and a small woodfire we will do the journey from the plant to the cup. An interesting version of this local drink will be offered while we share little history: the Guaraní culture, the influence of the Jesuits and the production of the infusion today. Our visit ends at a privileged spot with a view to the extensive Paraguayan fields and the Paraná River, and sharing interesting facts and stories about the area.

We are Picu and Emilio. We are both from Buenos Aires and we have met here 7 years ago. Since then, we share the passion for nature, many projects and a life together. We love this land and it´s nature as our own. Emilio is a naturalist photographer, an ornithological guide and an Atlantic Rainforest worshipper. He is the author of 3 books; the latest one is about the Iguazú National Park. Picu (it´s me writing!!) holds a graduate degree in Psychology and is also a human resources and sustainability consultant. She met Emilio while on vacation but had no regrets in leaving behind the Buenos Aires pavement for the red earth in Misiones. She learned how to drink mate and how to move around the triple border like a fish in water. Popular culture and nature – especially mushrooms, moss, seeds and bird nests – keep her constantly mesmerized

Esperienza indimenticabile !

Assolutamente imperdibile!

Very enjoyable experience with PICU & Emilio! If you enjoy “walking off the beaten path”, you’ll really enjoy this experience. Emilio & Picu are doing beautiful work in the conservation of the Atlantic Forest. The hike at La Lorenza in the Atlantic forest was beautiful, serene & amazing. Emilio is a nature photographer and is very knowledgeable about the different species of animals, flora & fauna. Not only did Emilio & PICU show & teach me about the Atlantic forest itself, they also taught me about the indigenous people of the Atlantic forest & the tradition of Mate! It was refreshing to be so much in nature that it was silent, the Parana River is at the foot of the Atlantic forest at La Lorenza, gently winding it’s way to & fro. It’s a very special & beautiful place. The tour lasted about 4 hours the hike was great! I was picked up promptly from my hotel at 0800. Emilio is thoughtful if you need to move at your own pace. Both Picu & Emilio are very thoughtful and kind. They provided great tips on places to eat, and helped me visit Iguazu on the Brazilian side as well! Their enthusiasm & kindness are infectious. There’s nothing quite like meeting great people and enjoying nature together. Next time, I would definitely do the hiking and kayaking tour they offer.
