What you'll do
Lace up your hiking boots and prepare for an epic day hike and scramble to one of Cape Town's gems! We'll hike Devil's Peak via the adventurous Mowbray Ridge, Knife Edge and direct scrambles which is one of my personal favorite hiking routes in the Western Cape. After reaching the 1001m high summit we will descend via the forested Newlands Ravine and return along the Contour Path to where it all began. During the hike we'll discuss the local Fauna & Flora that occurs here. Some days we'll get spoilt with wildlife sightings, but the focus will be on the unique Fynbos vegetation covering the mountain slopes. This is a nature experience where you will have the chance to come away with a fresh perspective of the rich biodiversity found within the Cape Floristic Region. Devil's Peak is an incredible hike with breathtaking views & scenery if the weather plays along! But it is demanding in terms of being strenuous (1000 meter elevation gain), exposure to heights (sheer vertical drops) & technical hiking (using your hands to scramble rock pitches, and rugged terrain). If a full days nature-focused mountain adventure is what you're looking for then this is the hike for you!
Growing up within the boundaries of the incredible Table Mountain National Park I had the mountains of Silvermine as my literal backyard. This is where my love for the Table Mountain range all began! Fast forward 30 years and today I'm a full-time mountain guide in the Western Cape with professional accreditation by the legal bodies in South Africa after starting out in 2007 as a volunteer guide for the National Park. Sharing my love for nature by leading interpretive nature trails & adventurous hikes across the fynbos covered mountains of the Cape allow me to live out my passion daily. Other interests include photography, writing and enjoying Cape wine with family & friends. I've completed "Supporting the Safety of Women | Travelers & Hosts" seminar facilitated by the National Network to End Domestic Violence (October 5th, 2019)

Where you'll be
We will do a circular hike from Rhodes Memorial to the summit of DEVIL'S PEAK (1001m elevation), returning via Newlands Forest. Views of False Bay, the Cape Flats, Table Bay, Lion's Head, Table Mountain & the City Bowl are all possible should there be no clouds on the summit. However, it's about more than the vistas!
