What you'll do

As a vegan there are a few things I always look for: the best hot chocolate, the best tapas / mezze, the best fine dining, the best street food and the best ice-cream!
We'll walk the streets of Cape Town to sample or show you my personal favourites in each one of these regards and you'll see interesting sites along the way.
We'll meet at Cape Town's arguably most famous coffee shop, Truth, and from there you can see the Fugurd Theatre and District 6 museum. We'll swing by Lekker Vegan, our famous "junk food" vegan eatery where you'll find veganised local delicacies like the "gatsby". (For groups who prefer less walking and more tasting, we can tailor the starting point to St George's Cathedral.)
Then it will be quite a brisk stroll to "Honest" and "Bean There" where you will have the best vegan hot chocolate, chocolate cake and sea salt chocolate of your life. Seriously, it beats Belgium chocolate in my opinion. A great place to buy gifts for friends back home.
I'll point out my favourite restaurant in the world, where you can book a dinner reservation as they only open at night.
Then we'll stroll passed one of my favourite gelateries in the vibrant Long Street, and a quaint South Indian restaurant with a dedicated vegan menu.
I'll point out a few vegan burger joints and restaurants, en route to our lunch spot in the famous Kloofnek Rd. Then end at Unframed Ice-Cream!

To say that I'm a foodie is an understatement. My mom was an exceptional cook, my uncle a restaurateur and my godson a cordon bleu chef who runs a successful catering business - all in Cape Town. We all love to cook, bake and eat! Mix that with a passion for Cape Town and veganism and I think that makes me uniquely qualified ;-) I was born, raised and schooled within the city itself and it is still my home town.
I was a vegetarian for 23 years before transitioning to veganism in 2015. I cook 3 meals a day and love to try new restaurants but am fussy because I rarely find a vegan eatery that betters (or matches) our cooking. So this tour will introduce you to my personal favourites that use fresh ingredients and fantastic flavours to produce mouthwatering vegan delicacies. As we say in Afrikaans: Local is Lekker!

More tips

The primary aim of this tour is to walk the city, and get an orientation of where good vegan eateries are. We will end the walk at a restaurant for lunch after a couple of hours of walking and sightseeing. Make sure you are not ravenous at the outset as we'll cover quite a distance before lunch ;-)
