What you'll do

We will pick you up at a meeting point in the center of the city of Iguazu. After 45/50 minutes drive (through a paved national road) we will arrive at La Lorenza, our private reserve, nestled in the forest. The property is located on the Paraná River, in a farm area where local families live off the land. Once we arrive we will do a gentle paddle in the Paraná River till it´s affluent, the Urugua-í river. This smaller river and it ́s serene waters, is a perfect place to contemplate nature. It will give us the opportunity to move along the forest being silently part of the scene. After 2.5 miles of kayaking, we will be back on land. A 45 minutes walk through the forest (full od biodiversity!) will take us to a privileged deck with an open view to Paraguay. Our visit ends at this unique place across borders, with a mate/ terere to share, and interesting facts and stories about the area.
*We have sit on top kayaks and this excursion is suitable for beginners!! The walk includes a walk through a pronounced 150 meter slope (approximately 500 feet). The level of difficulty is LOW. THIS EXCURSION IS IN REGULAR (NOT PRIVATE).

We are Picu and Emilio. We are both from Buenos Aires and we have met here 7 years ago. Since then, we share the passion for nature, many projects and a life together. We love this land and it´s nature as our own. Emilio is a naturalist photographer, an ornithological guide and an Atlantic Rainforest worshipper. He is the author of 3 books; the latest one is about the Iguazú National Park. Picu (it´s me writing!!) holds a graduate degree in Psychology and is also a human resources and sustainability consultant. She met Emilio while on vacation but had no regrets in leaving behind the Buenos Aires pavement for the red earth in Misiones. She learned how to drink mate and how to move around the triple border like a fish in water. Popular culture and nature – especially mushrooms, moss, seeds and bird nests – keep her constantly mesmerized

The experience was magical. Emilio is a fantastic host. He is very knowledgeable about nature and did a great job helping us understand how to kayak for the first time in our lives. The water was warm and nature was vibrant. It was evident that Emilio is passionate about the rainforest. It was an invaluable experience. I highly recommend it.

I would hugely recommend this experience. Something different to the falls in Iguazu and the experience of another beautiful part of the region with people who have passion for the area and an inside knowledge of culture and biodiversity. Picu and her sister have an amazing relationship; warm, funny and personable, and that made this experience so unique and unforgettable. We felt like it was just a group of friends kayaking down the river and wandering through the bush, bliss! An experience not to miss, before or after the chaos of the falls.
