This is a private studio in the heart of downtown Tucson. We are walking distance from grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and bars both in downtown and on 4th Avenue. A great quiet space for Gem Show and visits to the University of Arizona.
This is an attached, private studio just outside of downtown Tucson (there is a shared wall, like an apartment). The perfect location to enjoy peace and quiet while still being able to walk to our lively downtown scene! Enjoy the historic architecture, green spaces, and walkability in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tucson. In addition to an excellent location, the studio also has a kitchenette that is fully appointed with: a coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge (and freezer), two burner hot plate, toaster oven, plates, cups, and flatware. The studio features wifi, free parking, and has a view of the garden. It has a private entrance, but does require that you enter through our locked gate (you will have a key) and a walk through our yard. We practice a light form of urban agriculture in our yard that includes fruit trees, chickens, a beehive, and a desert tortoise in addition to our gardens. We hope this enhances your stay and are happy to show you around!
We live in one of the oldest historic neighborhoods in Tucson. There is plenty of architectural beauty to see as well as many green spaces close by to enjoy. We live on a main street with a bike lane. Though there are many bike friendly places in Tucson, downtown is one of the best. You can also hook up with the Rillito bike path just blocks from the studio to explore more of the city. There are museums and art galleries as well as restaurants (both high end and casual) and nightclubs all within walking distance.

EXPERIENCED HOST WITH NEW LISTING This is one of a handful of traditional, Sonoran row houses arranged around a central, treed courtyard in the Barrio Viejo National Register Historic District. Fully renovated from a state of near-ruin, our 1880s mud adobe is now ideally located just blocks from the Tucson Convention Center, within walking distance to Downtown, and an easy streetcar ride from the Mercado District, 4th Avenue and the University of Arizona. Enjoy 700 sqft+ gated courtyard
Did George Martin, one of Tucson's first druggists, ever live here? Probably not, especially given that historically the barrio was populated largely by Mexican-Americans and other people of color. Instead, over the years this collection of adobes was home to laborers of various sorts--masons, teamsters, a porter--and also reportedly served as a stables and bunkhouse for well-heeled guests at the nearby Palace Hotel. Still, it is true that "Geo. Martin" is printed in India ink on the underside of a kitchen ceiling board (look up when standing in front of the photo of George in the kitchen). So perhaps he at least came calling back way back when the traces of lime plaster that can be seen still clinging to the original mud bricks in the kitchen were fresh. Enter from the street into your own, private living space filled with a mix of mid-century modern and traditional furnishings all carefully curated to create a serene and restful retreat. Play some vintage records on the Crosby, enjoy a few Arizona-themed Viewmaster reels, or lounge on the daybed with a tome on the history of Arizona from the mini-library. The kitchen has a full compliment of appliances, along with pots, pans, utensils and pretty much anything you might need to cook a wide variety of dishes, along with coffee and teas for the morning. The bedroom contains a queen bed with luxury Saatva mattress, while the living room has a daybed equipped with a twin mattress. A closet and small chest of drawers are available for your use. The skylit bathroom has a marble-tiled shower, fresh towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hair dryer. A compact washer and dryer are located across from the bathroom, along with ironing board and iron. Outside a large, leafy, shared courtyard has two chairs and a side table for your use--the perfect spot to enjoy some desert-morning sun with coffee or an evening cocktail under the stars.
Barrio Viejo (also sometimes known as Barrio Libre or Barrio Historico) is one of Tucson's best and most eclectic neighborhoods. We're within easy walking distance to Five Points, the Tucson Convention Center (5 mins on foot), Downtown (10-15 on foot), as well as the Mercado District, 4th Ave., Main Gate and the University of Arizona (all of which can be easily accessed via streetcar).

This spacious adobe is perfect for couples, groups, and families to enjoy a true Tucson experience. While it's located in a quiet and historic neighborhood, it's also walking distance to the best eateries and cafes. It was originally built in the 1890's. It has two bedrooms, an office, family room, dining room, laundry room and backyard. Like many of the homes in this unique neighborhood, it has an unwavering timeless charm.
Our neighborhood calls this house "The Root Beer House," because there is still a sign on the front of the building from when it was a soda shop in the 50's. It has had many iterations in the 130 years it's been around but was most recently renovated in the last 5 years. We kept as much historic charm as possible while making a few modern updates. The front of the house is a family room and office, the middle of the house are the two bedrooms with king beds, and a dining room. The back of the house is the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room. There is also a backyard with fruit trees and a fire pit.
Barrio Viejo is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tucson, it's incredible that it has kept it's historic integrity over the years. There's a handful of great coffee shops, retail stores and restaurants in this neighborhood proper. Downtown Tucson is walkable as well. The University of Arizona is 2 miles away. And we are also about a 15 minute drive to Saguaro National Park.

Casa Limón or Lime house is a 1901 adobe duplex located in the beautiful and historic Barrio Viejo just one block from the main Gem and Mineral show at the Tucson Convention Center and a 10 minute walk to either the heart of downtown or Mercado San Agustin.
The property has been meticulously restored to show the layers of history and character that only a true historic home will have (circa 1901) Living room/kitchen walls feature plaster and adobe that is over 100 years old and an exposed wood ceiling from the same time that has a surprise feature. The addition mirrors the historic adobe structure to create a butterfly roof that channels water to future cisterns. Within the addition are the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is 1 private bedroom with a lock. The bathroom is located off the hallway and is attached to the laundry room. The yard is completely enclosed and has a front porch and side deck that is covered by an ocotillo ramada. On the side yard is also a cowboy cooking bonfire pit. All the historic character with all the modern conveniences: -Brand new state of the art kitchen with 5 burner gas stove, refrigerator and dishwasher with rustic alder cabinets and quartz counters. -New plumbing features high efficiency fixtures and grey water system that waters the garden. (Water the plants while you shower!) -Unit includes washer/dryer (special laundry detergent will be provided to not kill the plants). -New electrical includes a house that is completely wired (for example: ethernet ports in the office but also wifi throughout) for high speed communications. -"August" smart locks on the gate and front door so you will not have to worry about losing keys because your smartphone will operate the locks.
This historic, vibrant, and unique community is an extremely popular muse for photographers, painters, and other artists alike. In fact, this neighborhood is so cherished, it is soon to be a National Historic Landmark. This neighborhood began to form in the 1800s and was "an expression of the institutions of Spanish imperial colonialism as embodied in the Laws of the Indies and the limitations imposed by a frontier culturally and economically impoverished by great distance from its center." Or In Layman's terms: Much of the architecture is a direct reflection of the Spanish Imperial building / town planning guidelines called the "Laws of the Indies" however because of it's detachment from the "motherland" it has a unique vernacular or "built by common people" architecture. Barrio Viejo is "one of the largest surviving concentrations of Sonoran Adobe flush‑front architecture and urban block typology in the American southwest." Make sure to bring your camera.

Your historic apartment in the Old Pueblo awaits! Located on bustling 6th Ave., this completely private, luxurious apartment was a doctor's office when built in 1903. Now the space hosts travelers who need to be in the heart of the action. Galleries, concerts, festivals, parades, live theater, bars, restaurants and shopping are within blocks of this art filled city escape!
Decorated in a modern palette of crisp, clean colors, your apartment is an inviting, sun drenched space just steps from downtown Tucson. You enter off of 6th Avenue--home to five star restaurants, galleries, Armory Park, the Children's Museum and historic mansions from Tucson's fabled past. Time your stay just right and you can watch the internationally famous Tour de Tucson start and finish from the elegant, sweeping steps outside your front door! Not here for the race? The Tucson Parade of Lights, Cyclovia and dozens of other festivals happen throughout the year just a block away in Armory Park. Your front door opens on to the living room and an expanse of solid oak, hardwood floors. Dappled sunlight filters in through the hardwood blinds. The living room is furnished with chic leather couches that fold flat into delightfully comfortable beds. Vintage suitcases hold luxury linens for overnight stays. Art by local Tucson artists enlivens the walls and a solid hardwood desk with Lucite chair makes taking care of business an enjoyable task. The eat in kitchen used to be the exam room when your apartment was staffed with medical professionals. Now, the glass front medical cabinet is yours to store your things. Walk to Johnny Gibson's to buy fresh produce and cook your meals on the copper clad cookware in the fully stocked kitchen. Enjoy filtered water, fine teas and a french press for the perfect cup of coffee in the morning. The bistro table for two is flanked by fine art, a vintage obi (kimono sash) and hand carved, hear-no-evil monkeys. Nine months out of the year Tucsonans dine al fresco in the delightful desert air. You can too while you enjoy the finest people watching in Tucson. The front garden patio is lush with plants that attract hummingbirds and butterflies while the 75 year old Queen palm gives shade and sweet dates for the adventurous. Your bedroom features a decadent queen sized bed topped with high thread count linens and mounds of pillows to snuggle in. The bed is crowned by beautiful sari fabric, an Italian crystal and wrought iron chandelier and a hand-carved wooden headboard. Heavy velvet curtains block light and sound and an exotic bead curtain separates the closet from the bedroom. The bathroom is split into two small rooms. One features the original, 100+ year old sink and a mural by Tucson artist, Lana. The other, features a waterfall shower head, hand carved wooden accents and flickering LED candles with remote. Every detail has been carefully considered for your comfort. Please note, this is an historic home. The windows are original and not as sound proof as modern ones. There is no central heat or air but each room has a modern, quiet window unit and radiant space heaters. The bathroom is located off the bedroom and is small by modern standards. We think these minor problems are outweighed by the charm of this historic building and we hope you do too!
Tucson is a remarkable city nestled in the lush Sonoran Desert. Populated for over two thousand years it has a vibrant history. Your apartment is located at the intersection of two fascinating neighborhoods--Armory Park and Barrio Viejo. Around 1933 Dr. James Harvey Robinson, History Dean at Columbia University wrote this on first visiting the Barrio: "But this cannot be the United States of America, Tucson, Arizona! This is northern Africa - Tunis! Algiers! - or even Greece, where I have seen as here, houses built flush with the sidewalks with pink, blue, green and yellow walls, flowers climbing out of hidden patios and overall, an unbelievable blue sky. And the sweet-acrid smell in the air? Burning mesquite. Lovely! And the people - charming. But all this is the Old World, not America." Many of the still standing Barrio row house were built in the 1870's. Made with 18" adobe walls and plastered with brightly colored 'cal' paint, they are the largest collection of 19th century adobe buildings in the USA. Your apartment lies at the corner of the intersection of Barrio Viejo and Armory Park. Tucson incorporated in 1871 with a population of 3,00. A year later, Armory Park was surveyed and railroad workers began building houses here. The spacious, tree lined streets were made wide enough to let a 7-mule team do a u-turn, in sharp contrast to the narrow streets of Barrio Viejo jjust a block away. Lawyers, judges, politicians and other professionals quickly colonized Armory Park and turned it into the fashionable part of town. Architectural styles vary wildly in Armory Park with adobe Victorians and Greek Revivals standing shoulder to shoulder with Anglo-Territorials. Your apartment lies on the Turquoise Trail, a walking tour by the City of Tucson that highlights historic buildings. Just follow the turquoise line painted or tiled into the sidewalk to discover the rich history of this wonderful city!

Small barrio home three blocks from downtown, the Museum of Art, the Community Center, the YMCA and government offices. Fifteen minute drive to the U of A. The Desert Museum is 20 minutes away and a wonderful 125 mile walking, running and bike trail called The Loop is a short distance from the house. Plus there is a good work-out hill called Tumamoc to climb five minutes away. There are two free parking spots in front of the home. The front porch is a favorite sitting area.
Barrio Viejo is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tucson. It is adjacent to downtown and typically the homes are small with no garage, so people park on the street. This adobe home was built in 1935. It is an easy walk to downtown with lots of restaurants and the Fox Theater which is a venue for music performances, et cetera.
Proximity to downtown with the Museum of Art, the Fox Theater, lots of restaurants and bars, government centers, modern street car a short distance away, the bus center close by, a colorful neighborhood great for walking through all make the neighborhood a fun place to stay.

It was super-clean, comfortable, stylish, with a beautiful courtyard and plenty of space- more than we'd thought. And the owner left us the most generous gift basket with wine and chocolates, ales, and whiskey; all locally produced. His friend Mary who was our contact was very responsive and helpful and really nice. We would highly recommend this home- the neighborhood is great too. 10 stars!!! One of the best Airbnbs I've ever stayed in!”
Walking the neighborhood, guests will find 100+ year-old buildings from Tucson’s territorial days as well as parks, shrines, restaurants, a library and a recreation center.
