A small, private, cozy studio less than a mile walking distance of both downtown Bellingham and WWU campus.
This one bedroom studio is small but mighty. We believe you will find it to be a very private, convenient and affordable option in the heart of Bellingham. It's located within a mile of both the epicenter of downtown Bellingham as well as WWU campus. Recently, we've replaced the carpet with hardwood flooring, updated the electrical and gave it a new paint job. It is most suitable for 1-2 people, but the futon couch can be used as a second "bed" making the studio available to groups of up to three.
The best part about York neighborhood is our proximity to both downtown bellingham and WWU campus (both are within a mile). There are also several neighborhood diners, pubs and restaurants all within a 1/2 mile that are great places to unwind after enjoying bellingham. We recommend both Nelson's market and MacKay's tap house. Due to our proximity to campus, there are many students in the area. Generally they are quite but can host loud parties from time to time.

Charming cabin-esque suite at the top of Sehome Hill overlooks the town of Bellingham with views of the bay, mountains and arboretum. Enjoy a meditative walk through the garden or make your way to Mt. Baker in the winter months for world-class skiing and snowboarding. Just a short walk through the woods to Western Washington University and a 10m walk into downtown where you'll find a variety of shops and restaurants, this is the perfect spot to feel central but isolated amongst nature.
Indoor fireplace and heated floors make for a cozy stay in the cold months.

Amy and I have recently updated this turn of the century, 800+ sf character home. The Bungalow is located within walking distance of both WWU (1 mile) and downtown Bellingham (1 mile) and the neighborhood boasts several great breweries and dining options. The bungalow is located on a dead end, single-family street.
This house is a turn of the century character home in the York neighborhood. We have relished the opportunity to fix it up. Major updates have been made to the roof and electrical. I installed new hardwood to the foyer, living room, bedroom #2 and the dining room. Both the exterior and interior have fresh coats of paint and I replaced the front porch. The kitchen could use an update but is clean and has fully functional appliances and is stocked with everything you need to cook. Sorry, no dishwasher.
The best part about York neighborhood is that it is in close proximity to everything. We are within walking distance to downtown bellingham or Western campus (both are within a mile). There are also a couple neighborhood diners/pubs that are great places to unwind while enjoying bellingham. The neighborhood is well represented by University students who occasionally exhibit normal university student energy.

The Cabin Apartment is a spacious classic Northwest studio. The basement level of a grand 1918 home in the historic South Hill neighborhood, Cabin Apartment features a private entrance and ideal location for exploring Bellingham by foot, bike, or car. We're located midway between Downtown (1 mi/1.5 km) and Fairhaven (1.3 mi/1.9 km). Just east you'll find Western Washington University (0.5 mi/800 m), and to the west you'll meet the stunning Bellingham Bay and South Bay Trail (0.3mi/450 m).
Guests enjoy a full stocked kitchen, dining table, bathroom with shower, and bedroom with a queen bed, 52" Plasma TV (Netflix and Prime TV included), and full-length (comfortable) couch. Wifi included.
Absolutely try to catch a sunset while you are in town. Seen from just across the street, or a short walk to the boulevard that winds along the bay, the sun sets over pristine waters and islands with views of the Canadian mountains in the distance. If you're lucky, clouds and water vapor create streaks of vibrant color across the sky. Red, blue, pink, purple and blinding orange. I've been a lot of places and none can rival a good Bellingham sunset. This neighborhood is very safe (though you always should keep a watchful eye at night when you are close to a university). Enjoy the close proximity to downtown and all the local breweries (over a dozen!) There are quite a few places to catch live music and 2 excellent independent movie theaters. Fairhaven is super cute and fun to check out the local shops during the day. Stop by Fairhaven Pizza, Sirena Gelato, Stonesthrow Brewery, and Le Chat Noir for a cocktail while you're there. If you're lucky, the Fairhaven Circus Guild will have a performance going as well. If you have a car, here are some area highlights: Mt. Baker! for skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Take a ferry to Lummi or one of the other San Juan islands. Buy lots and lots of sushi in Vancouver (and take advantage of the exchange rate). Take a day cruise around the sound, they're affordable! And of course, go hiking or mountain biking on the thousands of nearby trails.

Enjoy this cheery light filled space with a separate kitchen. Located close to Fairhaven, WWU, Downtown Bellingham, and trails that lead to Chuckanut Mtn, the bay and WWU. Let this be your hub for all you want to experience while in Whatcom County.
This space is attached to the main house where I live. There is an always locked door in the hallway between the two spaces for privacy. There are 3 different rooms which make it more than a traditional studio. The large room has a queen bed and a sitting area. There is an outside entrance to this room with a low deck that looks over the backyard and the garden. This is a great place to sit and watch the sunset. There are 3 steps up from this room into the hallway. Off the hallway there is a bathroom with a large shower (no tub) and another room for a small kitchen with a microwave, a countertop convection toaster oven, a refrigerator, a hot pot and an assortment of cooking and eating dishes and utensils. There is a second outside entrance into the kitchen. I provide tea as well as coffee beans with a grinder and a drip system with an insulated carafe. I also have basic condiments such as mustard, ketchup, vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. I have added an option for a third guest with the use of a 4" foam trifold single size mattress that could be placed on the floor next to the queen bed. This is for guests that want to bring a child or friends that may not want to share the queen bed. Please be aware that this is not a real bed and choose this option with that knowledge.
Wren House is conveniently located close to many popular locations. We are 1 mile from a 24-hour major grocery store in a shopping center with a pharmacy, restaurants, hardware, and REI. We are 1.5 miles from Fairhaven with many shops and restaurants, 1.5 miles from WWU, 2.5 miles to downtown Bellingham with shops, restaurants and award-winning brew pubs, and just 2 blocks to a Greenways Trail that takes you to the Chuckanut Mountains or to Bellingham Bay or WWU.

Our studio is close to everything Bellingham has to offer. Just blocks from downtown, we are walking distance from nightlife, museums, restaurants, parks, and the waterfront. We love our Lettered Streets neighborhood, our view of the Bay, and proximity to all the good stuff. You'll feel at home with a private entrance, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. With tons of historic charm, yet a newly renovated space with fun design details, this is the perfect spot to enjoy this quirky fun town!
This is the THIRD floor of a 19th century home. There are two sets of stairs, and electronic locks to access your private studio. The studio has a full kitchen, and we provide the basics to cook simple items. If guests want to do more extensive cooking, we are happy to provide the tools, however we do not keep everything in the unit, nor do we keep any food or condiments. If you have the need for more specialty cooking tools, we ask that the guest communicates this need ahead of time. This also goes for additional household items. We are minimalists in many ways, but can always share/provide these items. We provide coffee and tea (Keurig one cup at a time) as well as a French Press, and a hot-kettle for water. The space has a QUEEN size bed. The living room couch is a small futon that folds into a bed. We do not advertise this as a second bed because it is not a typical "bed". It has worked for many guests with children, or adults who don't mind their feet hanging off the edges. If you have questions about this additional bed, please message us.
Lettered Streets is an awesome neighborhood if you like to be close to downtown restaurants, bars, and businesses. We often walk to the farmers markets or to brunch, and appreciate that we are one of the closest neighborhoods to downtown Bellingham. We love all the breweries, tap-houses, and coffee shops that are blocks away from our house! It is also ideal because it is a short distance (less than a mile) from the waterfront and the Marina (Squalicum Harbor). The fact that we can walk less than a mile to the marina to inspect the yachts, watch the sunset at Zuanich park, or driftwood hunt along Squalicum Beach is a real luxury! We love our location so much, but we still feel it is important to note that because we are only blocks from downtown, parks, restaurants and the waterfront, we have some proximity to areas where the homeless population of Bellingham will congregate. Specifically The Mission, a non-profit who has been serving Bellingham's homelss population for many years. As with any downtown area nationwide, homelessness is rising. It is unfortunate, but we cannot change this fact until certain systemic issues are addressed in our country. And Bellingham, even though picturesque and charming, shares the same disparity in living wage/home prices that the entire west coast is currently experiencing. However, we love living so close to downtown and have NO issues with our neighborhood. It is considered a desirable and very safe area to live. However, we like to give everyone a heads up... especially those folks that like to ignore that homelessness indeed exists in America. If you do not want to see or think about homelessness, please do not stay here. For more info on the Lettered Streets neighborhood feel free to visit: https://www.cob.org/services/planning/neighborhoods/Pages/lettered-streets.aspx

Slightly unconventional, this converted office space has 2 large bedrooms off of a full kitchen with a large table for dining, and no formal living room. Each bedroom includes a King sized bed, a sofa bed or futon/couch, 43" screen tv, wifi, and lounging/seating area.

Welcome to this quiet cul-de-sac with a 360 sq ft studio space in the best neighborhood in Bellingham. Western Wash. University and historic Fairhaven are within short walks (about 15 minutes or 2 minutes by car) accompanied by stunning views . The place a has private entrance, kitchenette and bathroom. This space is ideal for a single person or a couple. It is sparkling clean. To that end, we have never hosted animals of any kind, in case you should have allergies. Your kitchenette comes with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle, toaster and water filtration unit. Coffee and tea provided. Feel free to prepare salads, sandwiches, cereal etc (there is no cook top). If you could leave the kitchen as you found it, the better. I have chosen not to supply breakfast for a couple of reasons: people's dietary needs are very different, and, I simply cannot compete with the delicious breakfasts offered at the local cafés within an easy walk. (You should try the Eggs Benedict at Mount Bakery Fairhaven, wow...) If you want to sit outside in the summertime, there is garden furniture at your disposal on the patio. Feel free to bring your glass of wine or beer and make yourselves comfortable. As for laundry, I don't normally offer it, but if you are in a jam, I can do a load or two for you.
You have picked a fantastic area to stay in Bellingham. If you would like some help with places to go and see, we are here for you. We have lived in Bellingham for a long time. My place is my home. It is very private yet close to public transport, parks, and the Fairhaven Historic District with greenways, restaurants, shops, and a great bookstore. We are three blocks from a great walk along the Bellingham Bay. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families. One block from grocery store.

Gorgeous light filled studio centrally located with a bay view, this is a unique space with thoughtful modern, Pacific Northwest design. Just a short walk to seaside and forest trails, downtown Bellingham shops, restaurants, breweries, nightlife, and WWU's beautiful campus.
The Garden Street Studio combines a Pacific Northwest aesthetic with modern accents. Every piece in the Studio – from kitchen utensils to furniture and accent rugs – has been chosen carefully. We are seasoned vacation rental hosts and endeavor to create spaces that feel modern, warm and unique, evoking a distinct sense of place rooted in the Pacific Northwest. The Studio is 739 square feet. The main room has ample space for entertaining, with plenty of seating, a gas fireplace, flat-screen television with Netflix viewing, gorgeous handmade live edge coffee table, and a sofa that becomes a bed for two. The custom, well-stocked kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel appliances, and all the dish and cookware one could need (as well as olive oil, balsamic, spices, sugar, flour, coffee + french press, and more...). Peter's handmade live-edge maple table seats four. The living and dining areas are full of natural light from the south and west facing windows. The tiled walk-in shower can be used as a regular shower and includes a spa-like steam shower head that converts the shower into a steam room. The queen-sized bed is in a separate room (there is no door on the bedroom, but a sliding screen separates it from the main living area). The bedroom includes ample closet space fronted by mirrored sliding doors, and a waterfall feature just outside the window. The Studio has radiant heat under bamboo floors, with slate tiled entryways. Since it is adjacent to a wooded path and screened in by a stone wall and hedges, one guest commented: "The setting gives a sense of privacy and seclusion despite being in the middle of town." Covered parking is just behind the Studio. We care about beauty, connection, real things, and the Studio reflects that; much of its features were made by us or locally sourced. You'll eat at Peter's table, hang your coat on an alder tree we found in our woods, use Aimee's homemade soap in the kitchen, see our friends' art on the walls, and experience the best of the Northwest within and without.
The Garden Street Studio is in the heart of Bellingham, 3 blocks from downtown, two miles from historic Fairhaven, and 4 blocks from Western Washington University's campus (a 1 minute drive, 2 minute bike ride, 8 minute walk). Beyond the urban attractions, outdoor activities are also right outside the door or a short drive away. Some of Bellingham's best restaurants, grocery stores, farmer's market, and night life are within a 5-10 minute walk (guests can walk to all five local breweries)! Bellingham is known for integrating nature with urban living; the Studio is located adjacent to a nature trail that leads to Laurel Park, and a short walk from Sehome Hill Arboretum, the beautiful park-like campus of Western Washington University, and the South Bay trail that follows the waterfront. In the other direction is downtown Bellingham, with its restaurants, nightlife, museums, and shopping. The wonderful Bellingham Farmer's Market is just 4 blocks from the Studio. The historic Fairhaven district is a five minute drive, a 15 minute bike ride, or a 30-40 minute walk along the water. Fairhaven has its own weekly farmer's market, shops, terrific bookstore, kayak rental, and some great restaurants. Further afield – but not far – are the majestic mountains of the Cascade Range. The Studio is equidistant between Seattle and Vancouver BC (1.5 hour from each).

UPDATE: I believe that I will be able to do nightly rentals after all! Sometime soon after May 5, I will find out if my permit for STR rentals with the city of Bellingham has been approved. • Home Base is a centrally-located, clean, comfortable place to settle into after an active day in the Bellingham area. Whether you're here for WWU summer campus activities or time in the mountains, at the water, or around town, it's ready to be your battery recharge center after a busy day.
Home Base will be open from June 22- Sept 18, either for nightly or monthly rental. Please contact me to discuss your desired dates - I can only do 30 day or longer rentals, and only from June 22 - Sept. 18. And there's plenty of time before summer, if you give me a few days' notice, I should be able to get you in to preview the apartment if you are in town before then. Thanks! Please note there is a security deposit of $400 for your stay, but AirBnB does *not* charge your card at the time they charge for the rental. Assuming there's no special damage beyond wear and tear, nothing is ever charged to your card. -------- Just refurbished and freshly furnished last summer! Home Base has a great private dining deck in the trees, but is cozy (750sf) and has no real yard of its own. So I think it's best suited for travellers who are here to take in the amazing recreation and entertainment opportunities and just want to come home to a clean, relaxing place for an evening meal, a Netflix chill, and a great night's sleep before setting out again in the morning. The kitchen is equipped and ready if you are settling in for a long stay and plan on doing your own cooking - New smooth top range, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and even a breakfast sandwich (ala egg McMuff) maker - I've never tried that last one, let me know how it works. The best dining is al fresco on the side deck – a great private place to enjoy a meal during the summer months! (The small table inside seats 4 when pulled away from the wall, in case it's raining or cold.) There's wifi and an AppleTV with Netflix available for entertainment, along with games and reading material. The high-quality individual coil beds (new last summer) have firm mattresses, for those of us who need that support for our backs.
Across the street to the east you can explore the WWU campus, with a sprawling collection of outdoor sculpture and programmed activities at the Performing Arts Center. Right above the campus, Sehome Hill is capped by the 165-acre Sehome Arboretum, with 6 miles of wooded trails. A stroll south takes you through the historic South Hill neighborhood with classic homes and great bay views. Wander west or North, and you'll find this part of Sehome neighborhood is made up of modest historic homes and small apartment buildings, with a high percentage of students in residence. That means that in the summer it's pretty quiet while the students are out of town, becoming livelier in September as they make their way back for fall classes. Dining and entertainment are in walking distance with downtown Bellingham just six blocks away. Bellingham's food and craft brew options have never been better. The building itself looks like a quaint cottage from the front (Garden St. side), but the approach for this unit (1 level down) is from the parking lot on the alley. Our neighbor properties on the alley side are... let's say not as picturesque as the streets? Hey, it's an alley. But the neighborhood is safe, and close to everything.
