My place is close to Keene, NH, Fitzwilliam Inn, Mount Monadnock, Rhododendron State Park. You’ll love my place because of The calm surroundings, shade and sunshine ease of access to everything in the Monadnock Region. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets). Just to be clear the beach is across the road, (which is about 10' wide) and slightly to the left of my house.
Inside the cottage is basically a one bedroom cottage with a large Sunroom and common Living Room/Kitchen/Dinning/Great Room. There are full sized pull out sofas' in the Sunroom and Living Room. The Sunroom offers as much privacy as a Bedroom; the Living Room does not. There's a deck that wraps around the house and a patio in the backyard. There is also an out door shower off the patio so you can shower off after coming up from the beech and a large fireplace with patio in the side yard.
Fitzwilliam New Hampshire is the quintessential New England town and was featured as such many years ago on the Today Show! The Fitzwilliam Inn is a short drive, (@ 3 minutes), down the road and has an excellent Dinning Room and Bar. Mount Monadnock is about 15 minutes away and is the second most hiked mountain in the world I am told. Keene, New Hampshire is about a 15-20 minute drive north on NH Route 12 and offers a full set of conveniences for shopping, dinning and entertainment.

Nestled in the quiet woods just north of Mt. Monadnock our cozy one bedroom apartment invites the outdoors in with peeks of the mountain through the trees. Sit out on your private deck and enjoy the view or stroll around the yard and pick a few blueberries in season. We welcome hikers, nature lovers, those visiting friends or family or just wanting to enjoy the area's beautiful scenery and many artistic venues. I like to think of it as a peaceful sanctuary that we'd like to share with you.
The guest apartment is part of our home but it is completely private and has it's own entry and private deck. So, you don't have to say hello whenever you come and go (unless you'd like to, of course:) If you have questions and either Sterling or I am there you are welcome to just knock on our door ( next door) and if we are gone, I am usually available to receive a text or call. You may just enjoy sitting out on the deck to get your fresh air and view but you are welcome to the yard and to stroll through the garden. We have plenty of parking so park where you finds a good space. We only advertise one bedroom and there is a long couch (not a pullout with a bed) in the living room that is pretty comfortable. I keep extra bedding in the bedroom closet. We also have a handy twin mattress in the entry closet to accommodate a child if needed. You are welcome to these . We also have a guestroom with its own patio down the stairs from the apartment. My family visits occasionally so I don't advertise it but if you need another queen bed you can let me know and, if it is available, you are welcome. (We charge an extra $50 a night for that.) If you like to cook the kitchen has the basics: stove, refrigerator, utensils, a few condiments and spices. Let me know if you need anything you can't see there. The apartment has a coffee station. You can have the option of the Kuerig if you are in a hurry for coffee in the morning (like me) or there is a coffee maker so that you can make yourself a pot. I usually try to have eggs and something baked on hand so you don't have to rush off for breakfast. I hope you can relax and enjoy your stay!
When we first moved here over 30 years ago I wasn't sure I could handle the quiet, town girl that I was. But I love it and, after a busy day, it is such a peaceful place to come back to. My favorite spot in the summertime is on the deck for dinner. The apartment has it's own and I think most guests feel the same way. There are lots of walkers who enjoy this road and cars hauling boats but, even after all these years, it remains a peaceful and quiet spot. Just a mile and a half down the road is Dublin Lake and Stone Pond is about that distance in the other direction. Howe Reservoir is nearby as well. Bring your kayak and watch the sunset from the middle of the lake and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountain. If you are a hiker or even an aspiring one we are not too far from trails up Mt. Monadnock and the Sunapee Trail. In the winter there are lots of cross country or snow shoe trails not far from us. Friendly Farm is a great place for children and it's just a 6 minute drive away. The towns around us have lots of activities too numerous to list but we are centrally located to the best the area has to offer... Peterborough Players, Apple Hill Chamber Music (where you can sit outside and enjoy a picnic while being serenaded,) Art Shows, Museums, Concerts, Great Restaurants and Shopping. I try to keep local information up to date and on your coffee table.

This is a romantic place for couples to unwind and reconnect. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. We recently added a propane stove which keeps the cabin toasty all the time. You can meander along the trail on our property or hike Mount Monadnock if you'd like more of a challenge. We escaped the hustle of city living three years ago and fell in love with this property. While you're away we want our guest house to feel like your home. Sleeping We know when you're away from home you want to sleep well and a really comfortable bed, is important. In fact some guests have said its the most comfortable airbnb bed they've ever slept in! Bathing The bathroom is adjacent to the bed and has shower, toilet and sink. This is the gateway to the Monadnock region, where nature surrounds you in all of its magnificence. Good WiFi!
Step back in time to enjoy the second floor of the historic E Parker building, built in 1850. It overlooks Fitzwilliam's village green which is as picturesque as a postcard from days gone by. The village green is home to the strawberry festival, summer concerts, the annual antique show, flea market and the other village events. The private apartment is above Covey House, our store that sells home and garden decor, and we teach classes about dōTERRA essential oils and natural solutions for health. There is a private entrance to the left of the building and parking at the rear. The barn is on the national historic register and the back garden is yours to relax in, or dine alfresco. This apartment is huge and really bright. It is listed a three bedroom and comfortably sleeps a family of five, or two couples could comfortable stay. There is a large eat in kitchen with propane stove, full size fridge, microwave, crock pot, coffee machine, electric kettle, toaster, dishes, pans, glasses and cutlery. We do not provide food. The spacious sunlit living room is the perfect place to relax. You can watch a movie on the DVD, snuggle up in the comfortable chair and read a book or work on a jigsaw puzzle or color at the checkerboard table. There is also wifi available. The dining room is huge and is perfect for more formal dinner setting. The master bedroom has the most comfortable queen sized bed and it was hand crafted in Vermont. It has a dresser, reading nook and closet. It overlooks the village green. In the summer there is a window ac in the room. The second bedroom has a full size bed, dresser and a large closet. In the summer there is a window ac in the room. We did add a twin bed to a small room but it is not technically a bedroom, it’s more for convenience for those that may need extra sleeping accommodation. The bathroom is off the kitchen and has a tub with shower. We provide plush towels and shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There is a vanity area outside the bathroom with a hairdryer. There is also an ironing board and iron if you need it. Laundry facilities are available for an additional charge of $5 per load (washer and dryer) This is a little piece of history, we hope to one day update the kitchen and bathroom but until then it has old charm and function rather than state of the art modern design. We hope you'll find it to be a home away from home. If you’d like to experience essential oils, we’ve left a diffuser in the living room with wild orange that will reduce stress and help you enjoy your stay. Clare is available for questions too.

Our family house is in the woods, steps from Stone Pond. Loll on the deck, gather in the living room by the fireplace or on the deck. Sit by the lake or swim in crystal-clear lake water. Hike through the woods or to the top of Mt Monadnock (at 3165 feet the most-climbed mountain in the United States). Dine or shop in the nearby college town of Keene, see summer theater in Peterborough, or hear Monadnock classical and other music concerts in the region
Our parents built this house in the 1970's, and spent their summers here after they retired. We are making it available to guests during most of the summer and early fall (good for fall colors!), when we are not enjoying it ourselves. The house is not winterized, so we close it up every fall and reopen it in late spring. It is a simple house. The large common area has a dining table, two comfy couches, and a central fireplace, and opens onto a deck that overlooks the lake. There is a large master bedroom on the lower floor. The other bedrooms are just big enough for a bed, chest of drawers, and closet. Two of the bedrooms have two single beds each, which can be pushed together for a couple. There is a small table in the kitchen as well as an electric stove and oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, and enough pots and pans for gourmet cooking. There are a washer and dryer on the lower floor. The pantry is well-stocked with spices and dried goods which guests are welcome to use; we ask that if you run our of something, replace it for the next guest (or us!). There is a large chest in the common area with toys, plus puzzles and games, and a number of children's books as well as adult reading, a small stereo system with a CD player and CD's. But no TV. There are various guidebooks and maps for local hiking: If you are around for a few days, you should make sure to spend a half-day hiking to the top of Mt. Monadnock on one of the dozen trails to the top, but there are plenty of other good hikes around -- just walking to the other side of the lake is a pleasure. A notebook offers suggestions for local activities and cultural offerings and favorite eateries in the surrounding towns (especially downtown Marlborough, Peterborough, Dublin and Keene). Our beach is grassy and always in shade; if you prefer to sit in the sun in between bathing, walk down to the town beach a couple hundred yards away. Our parking area is big enough for two small cars; there is plenty of parking along the road. The temperature may reach the 90's down in Keene and Marlborough, but it is always pleasant up at the lake. Note, though, that you may want a sweater for the evening, even in mid-summer. The house has baseboard heating in all rooms.
Stone Pond is a pristine, deep lake, ideal for swimming. The house is secluded; the lake is clearly visible through the trees from the house and deck, but set far back enough from the water's edge for a feeling of privacy. The woods provide just enough screening that you will feel isolated from the road and the houses on either side; if you see the neighbors it will be out on the lake, or running or walking their dogs along Stone Pond Road. You will see an occasional canoe, sunfish or kayak, and there are a couple of motorboats. but most of the time the quiet is lovely. There is a boat entry point near the town beach if you have brought your own boat. Marlborough has a few small cafes and a decent small grocery store, and the Dublin General Store is a landmark. Supermarkets and a wide range of dining options (from fine dining to fast food) are 20 to 40 minutes away. Keene is closest, with a state university, picturesque town square and walkable Main Street (featured in the Robin Williams file "Jumanji"! Peterborough (Thornton Wilder's "Our Town") has more dining, and is now the home of the Peterborough Players, a top-notch summer repertory theater. There are a variety of musical performances around throughout the summer. Jaffrey has a range of arts and crafts shops as well as an inn with a fine restaurant.
