My place is in close walk to local hotspots including Red Hen, Pub & the People, Boundary Stone , Anxo, Shaw's Tavern, Howard Theatre (best live music in the city), Union Market (foodie's paradise), NOMA, Rhode Island Metro, the P6 bus will take you directly to downtown/The National Mall, Met Branch Trail bike/walking, and a short jaunt to The Capitol (1 mile), tourist spots and Smithsonian Museums. You’ll love my place because of its centrally located convenient and quiet location.
I am offering a cozy bedroom with exposed brick walls that's warm and welcoming. You will be sharing my renovated condo in a large older brick house in one of the oldest neighborhoods in DC, Eckington. PLEASE NOTE: There are not windows in this bedroom-but I guarantee you will have the best night's sleep here. It is also TINIER than the fancy Air BnB photos taken appear. My condo offers a cozy living room with exposed brick that is equipped with Apple TV to stream all the Netflix and HBO GO to your hearts content. A comfortable couch and lounging chair are a good way to wind down after a day of exploring the sights. I have an extensive record and book collection for you to peruse and play some jams. You have free range to my galley kitchen available with a toaster, microwave, fridge, gas stove electric, electric water kettle, family heirloom antique cast iron skillets (no soap please), excellent kitchen tools/knives, and a French press with local small batch roasted coffee. It's a great space to throw some meals together or to reheat some leftovers.
Note on your GPS--my home is in NE, not NW--many guests accidentally go to NW and have to back track to get to my place. Eckington is a beautiful residential area filled with picture worthy historic and colorful row houses. There are a few corner stores in the area and I am east of Bloomingdale, to the west of the Rhode Island development and Gallaudet University, to the south you will find NOMA and to the north Brookland. All of these areas are walking distance from my house (10-20 min). NoMa offers a large, major Harris Teeter grocery store, restaurants (mostly fast or semi-fast food), coffee shops and a CVS. Also, a red line metro stop is there. You can get there by taking a walk/bike path, called the Met Branch Trail 15 minutes. Bloomingdale has a quaint little market, offering more than the regular convenience stores, including a solid wine selection. There are some great hip restaurants and bars there that I recommend all guests to check out. One of my favorite farm to table restaurants in all of DC is located there, the Red Hen. My favorite coffee shop in the city, Big Bear is also in walking distance. There is a also yoga studio, Yoga District that offers affordable yoga classes. In the summer, the DC Park and Rec department opens the Harry Thomas Recreation Center pool (a block from my house) where you can go for a splash or swim in one of the lap swim lanes. The DC pools are free to all. The Rhode Island metro stop and shopping district is currently accessible by walking along the Met Branch bike/walking path. There you can find a CVS, Home Depot, major grocery store, TJ Maxx, and some restaurants (semi-fast to sit down). Brookland is also along the Met Branch Trail and close to the nearby Catholic University and the Basilica. Other notable destinations in Brookland include a local brewery, art spaces, dance classes, Yoga/Pilates, and many art studios. There are several bike share stations in close proximity to my house, and within 20 min you can be to almost anywhere in DC through, including all the sights. I have one helmet to loan, bike maps and can give you tips as I am an avid biker and bike commuter. DC is a super flat and bike friendly city and one of my favorite activities in the city. Of particular note, for a bit longer walk, I am a little less than 25 min away from the Shaw Metro stop which houses the green/yellow line. And H Street is also fairly close to me, although I would recommend biking there.

Our happy basement studio apartment is a thoughtfully furnished space in a great location, just an 8 minute walk from the NOMA metro (and 1 mile north of Union Station). There are several distinct spaces (bed, dining, workspace, lounging, kitchenette, and bathroom) that flow in and out of each other, making it a functional and comfortable space during your stay in Washington DC.
THE BED is the place you will want to rest your head, with a brand new Tuft and Needle queen mattress, a mix of pillow types, cheerful duvet cover, and crisp white sheets. THE KITCHENETTE: We want to ensure that you have everything that you need in the morning and throughout your stay. We stock our happy yellow kitchenette with a variety of coffee and teas, giving you an option of using a french press or Keurig (with compostable pods). There is an electric kettle for tea, french press, or other needs. There is a small fridge with separate freezer, microwave, and toaster oven (please note that there is no stove or oven for cooking). Unfortunately, there is no running water in the kitchenette itself, but access to two sinks with drinkable water and we provide gallons of water, if you prefer to use that. LOUNGING: There is a surprisingly spacious area for lounging with a delightful blue love-seat, and colorful ottoman. The bookshelf behind the love-seat provides boardgames, books, and magazines for your use. The television has full cable, and for sports fans you can watch all of your games. It's also on a moving mount so you can watch TV from anywhere in the room - bed, couch, table. THE DESK: If you are looking for a work space, we have just the things for you, with Wifi and a foldable desk and comfortable chair, you are able to look into the garden from the desk. If you do not need a desk, it neatly folds into the wall and does not take up space in the room. DINING: A small tucked in table is big enough for two people share a meal, but not so big that it protrudes unnecessarily into the room. BATHROOM: The bathroom is small but provides enough space to get ready comfortably in the morning. It has a nicely tiled standing shower, and vanity with counter space and drawers. Fluffy white towels of varying sizes are provided, along with bathroom essentials (we've tried to think of everything that you may have forgotten).
We love our neighborhood. It's a residential neighborhood with a couple local bars, and a beer garden. We also love our local coffee shop, Big Bear Cafe, which has outdoor seating that lets you forget that you're in DC sitting under grape vines. In addition to being a lovely neighborhood in itself, we are about 1 mile walk from several of the hippest neighborhoods in town.

Located in Eckington, a residential neighborhood downtown (ie. close and quiet). Your bedroom boasts a queen bed, closet, and lots of natural light. Additionally, you have a private bathroom. Friendly reminder that you are renting a room, not the whole house. This means *no* kitchen access (ie. no cooking/baking. Cereal and milk / heating up leftovers and you're in the clear).
The house is 100+ years old. It's kept the charm and character, but did have a facelift ten years back. Still has hardwood floors and high ceilings throughout. Your private room is upstairs and has two windows, a full closet, and a queen bed. Additionally, you'll have full access to the guest bathroom just outside your bedroom (I have my own, so this will just be yours). Great for business travelers and tourists alike. Location: A 15-minute walk to the metro or a 15-minute uber/lyft ride to downtown DC (add extra time during rush hour). The Convention Center is only 1.5 miles, the Capitol 2 miles, and Union Station 1.5 miles away.
Eckington is such a fabulous neighborhood. It truly has a residential feel to it, even though its surrounded by modern amenities. Within a half mile of the house is everything from the all famous Red-Hen (rustic Italian) to Big Bear Cafe. Yoga and cycle studios within a 10 minute walk as well.

Welcome to DC! This renovated 1 bedroom basement apartment with private entrance is located in the Edgewood neighborhood. This quiet area is .6 miles from the Rhode Island Ave Metro and a 10 minute car ride to major attractions (Capitol, monuments, museums). Catholic and Trinity Universities are only 1 mile away. There are casual food options nearby including S & G Seafood, Subway, McDonalds and Huacatay Peruvian. Apartment has a small fridge, microwave, hair dryer, Roku tv and coffee pot. --
This beautiful apartment is located in a central area of DC but is on a very quiet block in the Edgewood neighborhood. It is on a street lined with row homes. The apartment itself is spacious and is a true one bedroom. There is a lot of closet space with an iron, lint brush, washer/dryer and hangers waiting for your clothes!! Want to take a bath or shower? It's your choice in the brand new bathroom. There's a table for you to eat or work on via the free wifi. Coffee, tea, and water are all complimentary as well!!!
My neighborhood is very quiet. It's mostly families and older couples. You wouldn't imagine you're so centrally located based on the feel of the area. Gallaudet, Trinity and Catholic Universities are all under 2 miles if you're visiting.

Welcome! JUST REMODELED. A private, cozy, modern, bright and stylish suite in a DC home (walkout basement, 375 sq ft) with everything you need and close to wherever you need to go, quickly. Close to subway, 10 min ride to major attractions. Very responsive host! Free street parking with my parking pass.
Welcome! As your host, I love helping people enjoy this amazing city. I live, work, and create art in DC. I try to create a personalized experience with a lovely, completely private stylish studio (a walk-out basement -- we live in the other unit above). However, I give you your privacy and have created an easy "self-serve" check-in/out system for your convenience. Meanwhile, I am available to make your stay great. The studio is well appointed, has amenities you need and is close to wherever you need to go, quickly. Its. short walk to the Metro (0.4 miles) and buses (2 blocks) and shared bike system. My recommendation is Lyft or Uber. 10-15 minute ride to major tourist attractions. Very responsive host! Free STREET parking (with my parking pass). . The kitchenette has a sink, small refrigerator, microwave, kettle for boiling water, toaster and plates/cutlery/can opener/etc. There is no stove/oven. Amenities: Wifi Apple TV with Netflix, Hulu, etc Kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee, tea and basic dishware. No stove. Plenty of fresh towels, linens, shampoo, conditioner, soap. Hair dryer Comfortable bed A helpful, friendly host The entrance to the suite is in the back of the house. I will send you plans at least one day before your arrival. Communication: I will be on call for the entire length of your stay, you can send me a call/text/email at any (reasonable:) time (unless it is an emergeny -- any hour) and I will respond promptly to any questions you might have. If I am traveling, I am still available by text/email, but always have an in town person on call for any needs.
A close walk to the very easy DC Metro/subway, yet tucked into a real DC neighborhood where neighbors know each other and many have lived here for a long time. At this time, there is major construction near the metro, though it is still accessible. However, I HIGHLY recommend LYFT Line and UBER. It is reliable, easy and very affordable. My home is located in the Edgewood neighborhood of DC, which is a racially and economically diverse neighborhood that represents both newcomers and long time residents. The business owners and neighbors are friendly and I have always felt comfortable here. A big more about Edgewood: The neighborhood was once the estate of Salmon P. Chase: statesman, abolitionist and jurist. The neighborhood arose with the establishment of the Metropolitan Branch Line of the C&O Railroad in 1873. This line now includes the Metropolitan Branch Trail (a biking and walking trail) and the red line of the metro (subway). Within a few blocks are grocery stores, dry cleaners, drug stores, etc. There are many nearby options for eating and shopping. Directly at the Rhode Island Metro Station, you will find a CVS, Home Depot, major grocery store, and sit-down and fast casual restaurants, including Thai, Chipotle, and southern cooking. A 15-min walk in one direction takes to you the heart of Bloomingdale, where you will find great places to eat (my favorite restaurant, Red Hen, and a great pub called Boundary Stone), a yoga studio, and a thriving farmer’s market during the summer and fall (near a fabulous coffee shop called Big Bear). A 15-minute walk in another direction takes you to right next to the campus of Catholic University, which faces a brand new arts and entertainment development called Monroe Market, featuring artist’s studios, restaurants (a favorite: Busboys and Poets), a Barnes & Noble bookstore and a seasonal farmer’s market.

Close-in, bright, comfy, spotless, spacious 900 sf, 4 room apt w/3 real beds (one queen and two singles), 1 bath, private entrance, 10 min. walk to Metro, 5 min. walk to bus. WIFI, W/D, AC, complete kitchen, parking on-site. Capitol Hill is two Metro stops away. Restaurants, grocery in walking distance. No pets or smokers. AFTER 8-17-19, we will only accept reservations of 3 weeks or longer. AFTER Oct. 23, 2019, we will only accept reservations of 8 weeks or longer. Send inquiry.
The apartment is in a three unit building on the end of a row of houses so it has lots of light with a yard and patio. It's extremely private also with its own entrance and on-site parking space. Our neighborhood is residential with trees and yards, yet within a few miles of almost any city destination. We've lived here for 29 years with wonderful neighbors. We can walk to good restaurants, grocery store, gym, pubs, and yoga. Excellent public transportation. We are on the Red Line, (a 10 min. walk) two Metro stops from Capitol Hill. Buses on Rhode Island Ave. are a five minute walk from the house. You can leave your car and take public transportation. We will give you directions. Lyft and Uber come within 5 min. Our rate is quite low for the space, quality, cleanliness and location of the apt. We want our guests to be comfortable and content. The queen bed is very comfy and there is a single sofa/bed in the living room and one single bed in the sun room. Note: four guests maximum.
Ours is an old residential, tree-lined neighborhood. It offers privacy and space but is close to the city.

A room in Katie and Rafael's home. This room is medium size, cozy and bright. It has a separate entrance, if you prefer, and is a 12 min walk to the red line metro. Plants and artwork give it a homey feel, I think. Close to Catholic University! Shared living spaces with easy going, RPCVs (couple) who like sharing food and enjoy learning from others.
Our space is welcoming to guests of all backgrounds. Both of us come from different places in the US and have lived abroad, and enjoy hosting! We enjoy music, and the dive bar down the street for a beverage or two. If you need recommendations, we're here for it. If you need help or are transitioning to D.C., we're here for it. Welcome to your perfect urban escape in the Nation’s Capital! Only .4 miles (10 min walk) from the Metro train & Capital Bikeshare, and a 10 min Metro ride to major DC attractions, this oasis has all you need to enjoy a weekend or extended stay. Perfect space for singles and couples.
My home is located in the Edgewood neighborhood of DC. Upon first glance, some people see it as a bit rough around the edges, but the business owners and neighbors are all very friendly. The neighborhood was once the estate of Salmon P. Chase: statesman, abolitionist and jurist. The neighborhood arose with the establishment of the Metropolitan Branch Line of the C&O Railroad in 1873. A 15-min walk in one direction takes to you the heart of Bloomingdale, where you will find great places to eat, a yoga studio, and a thriving farmer’s market during the summer and fall. A 20-minute walk in another direction takes you to right next to the campus of Catholic University, which faces a brand new arts and entertainment development called Monroe Market, featuring artist’s studios, restaurants (highly recommend Busboys & Poets, a personal fave), a Barnes & Noble bookstore, a seasonal farmer’s market and live music on Thursdays and Fridays. There’s also nearby dance classes and Yoga/Pilates. The neighborhood is generally quiet, but there is a major medical complex about a half mile away, so you will hear ambulance sirens from time to time.

In the heart of Eckington (just north of NoMa & Union Station), our town home is homey & bright. Not far from restaurants, shopping, bars & National Mall, the listing includes a private room with adjacent bathroom, and queen bed.
Our home is a large three bedroom, 2 bathroom town house with a cute private patio. There is cable tv (with HBO) in the living room, wifi access, full kitchen, and washer/dryer. You will have a clean private bedroom with a private bathroom, and comfortable queen bed. We provide fresh sheets, towels, snacks, and free wireless internet for your stay. We have three dachshunds who love guests! They are pretty sweet and are not crated during the day. So they will always greet you at the door. ☺
We are located in the small and quiet residential neighborhood of Eckington. It’s one of DC’s oldest neighborhoods. The land was originally home to Joseph Gales, Jr., a newspaper editor and mayor of Washington in the late 1820’s. The Eckington estate was eventually criss-crossed by the B&O Railroad, bringing with it industrial buildings that still define the neighborhood’s eastern edge. Eckington’s colorful row houses in a palette of pink, gray, yellow, green, slate, and blue may be familiar to you: They appear in the time-lapse opening credits sequence of the Netflix series, “House of Cards.”

A 15-min walk in one direction takes to you the heart of Bloomingdale, where you will find great places to eat (our favorite restaurant, Red Hen, and a great pub called Boundary Stone), a yoga studio, and a thriving farmer’s market during the summer and fall (near a great coffee shop called Big Bear).

Welcome to our home! We are in Edgewood, in DC, about 2 miles from the Capitol, and near the Metro and buses. We're in a quiet neighborhood nestled between Catholic University, and walking distance to trendy Bloomingdale and two farmers markets.
This is a great, sunny bedroom in a nice, colorful house. Compared to other locations in DC, this house real feels like a home, and you will feel welcomed and likely very happy here. ***Please note that there is a different rate if you are more than one traveler. There is one queen sized bed, which is fine for two people if you are a couple. You will share the bathroom with us.
This is a nice, friendly neighborhood, with easy access to all of DC hot spots. We are close, by public transportation to the Capitol, the Library of Congress, Chinatown, and the museums. We are within walking distance to Big Bear, one of the city's coolest cafés, and Red Hen, a great restaurant in historic Bloomingdale. We are walking distance to the National Basilica, and the great restaurants and artists' spaces there.
