    Nico2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Pretty good place. There’s a bikeshare and subway stop on the corner of the block so getting around is convenient. Decent value. Quick responses. No complaints.

  • Great location, awesome host, had the best time, perfect if all you need is a place to sleep and shower.

    Avery2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The location is awesome, easy to get Safeway in 10 mins walk. To get the main attractions of the city, you could take a train of 3 stops or walk for 30 mins. The apt is a real home where you could get all the resources from home. If there is more place to put our personal stuff on in the bedroom, it would be perfect. Highly recommended.

  • The checkin instructions were a bit unclear, I'm not sure we would've gotten into the building, had there not been a resident behind us that was entering. Entering in "the code for the building, and waiting for the long beep", didn't quite work out for us. Luckily, the lady behind us was nice enough to let us follow her in, and we were able to retrieve the key card for the secure door, and the room key. When we arrived, and picked up the key card/key earlier in the day, we didn't notice that the air conditioner was off. It was quite unpleasant when we arrived back to the room after 9:00 PM to a 84 degree apartment. It took quite some time for it to cool down. There were also no fans available in the apartment, so it was almost unbearable for about an hour. Once it got to around 78, it was more bearable, and one could fall asleep easier. Parking was a mess, for us, but I attribute it to the weekend that I stayed (Saturday night, Sunday morning, of Memorial Weekend). On the flip side though, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of "public" parking, once you veer off the main street that building is located on. There are plenty of residential areas around, but they all require a residential parking pass, which we did not have. There was also some kind of large community event Saturday night, so it was difficult to find parking. The host is able to secure a $20 guest parking pass, but we didn't take her up on it, as were only there for a single night. There's not a lock, on the outside, of the rooms that you stay in, so you must trust the other people staying in the apartment (should the host rent out the other room). So that's something to be weary of, should you have trust issues. Overall, it's a pretty simple place, and a good place to crash out if you're not staying for an extended trip.

  • I was slave not guest during stay at Vita and dissatisfied with bad attitude. I believe Vita is not qualified for rent service. You become learned this if you would stay there.

    명환2018-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Vita, the host, was very nice and friendly. If you don’t mind a very bare bones place with no amenities, this is your place. A place to crash. There are no amenities, not even a coffee pot. The double bed is on the floor. The neighborhood is very noisy at night.

    Denise2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location. Stylish, cozy compact room with high c/p ratio. No desk in the room, a little inconvenience for those who have to work while staying.

This unique apt in Logan Circle is literally blocks away from downtown dc. Is located in a very quiet building and at the same time close to exciting areas like U st, Dupont Circle, Chinatown, and Historic part of DC. There is Metro and bus access
Enjoy a very nice one bedroom apt and private bath in Logan Circle DC! between M and N streets NW. The apt is steps away from downtown dc, Massachusetts ave., New York Ave., Chinatown, Shaw U street, Dupont Circle and the historic part of DC.
  • The location was good, not too much going on on the street but easy walking distance to a lot of things including metro, 14th street and about 10 mins to grocery store. Communication between me and the host could have been a little quicker but not too bad. There were quite a few bugs in the apartment...not sure how/where they were getting in. Great air conditioning for the hot August weather!

  • Amazing location!!! You can’t beat it. It’s a great price for the location! I stayed there for 2 and a half months. It had all I need it. It has a washer and dryer, which help a lot! I think it can easily fit 2 people, as there is a bedroom downstairs, which I never used. Has a tv with Apple TV and good internet connection. I am Actually staying in January here too. Thanks mayra!

    Felix2017-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Let me just start by saying u can’t beat the location convenience wise, most places I went were walkable or a short uber ride. It is a basement so pretty easy to track in dust but she has everything u need to keep the place tidy. This is my 2nd time staying here & I will def book it again in future trips to DC. Mayra was prompt when it came to responding to any of my concerns. The parking space is an added bonus but I had decent luck finding street parking in the area as well. would definitely recommend this place!

    Fyori2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • kitchen cabinets were a little bit greasy. We had only one towel for two persons and there were not enough trash bags and no dishes soap. The bed is broken and one side is completely useless. The lock for the door is too cheap for a apartement in a basement.

    Audrey2018-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Really magnificent stay – host who went out of the way to be welcoming, easy to interact with, and extremely attentive. Next time I am in the area I will definitely stay here. 5/5 would recommend to family and friends.

    Alister2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra was a great host and very good with communicating. This location is so ideal for me that I wanted to extend my stay, but unfortunately it was already booked the day I was scheduled to leave.

    Gabriel2016-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Mayra was a great host. I arrived earlier than prompted and she made sure that I could easily get into the house. It was perfect for what I needed and I could easily stay here for a long period of time. The bed was comfy, and so was the couch in the living room. The area was pretty close to downtown and the attractions. We walked everywhere we needed. There are some good places to eat around as well.

    Raquel2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • RATS. At first, this place seemed awesome. I arrived and it was clean and just the right amount of space for me during my travel assignment for work. Also, the location is amazing!!! However, after several months, I started to find rat droppings and pieces of banana bitten through. I notified the host, who stated she would get pest control out there. During the week that it took before pest control came, the drippings exponentially multiplied, I had physically seen the squirrel-sized rats TWICE, and the house smelled worse than anything I've ever smelled. I cleaned the droppings several times during the week, but couldn't keep up. The pest control guy walked in on a Thursday morning and his first words were "oh. My. God. This is awful." He left traps out, but had also mentioned that he has been servicing this place for a year now and that the problem has never resolved. He showed me where foam had been sprayed to essentially band-aid the bigger problem. However, it was just a ticking time bomb as to when they would chew through the foam. I also had been sick nearly the whole time living in this place, which I had assumed maybe I had developed allergies. I have never had allergies in my life, to which the pest control said I have likely been breathing in rat urine and poison this entire time. I worked Thursday night then came home Friday morning and saw that there was more droppings, especially by my dogs cage, and my dog had bites all over her. I put her in a hotel and left to see my family for the weekend and cancelled the rest of my reservation. The host called me after the complaint was filed through Airbnb stating that I was making it up and had no proof. She stated that it was "disturbing" to her that I would be doing this and now she is losing money, etc. Never once an apology for how awfully she maintained her property. I would never rent one of her properties again. P.S. I have not gotten sick and my dog's skin cleared up since moving out weeks ago. I would be happy to provide pictures to anyone inquiring.

  • Donna's place is very comfortable and exactly as pictured! Although I wasn't able to meet with Donna in person, her instructions and communication were clear. The keypad on the individual bedroom door is a nice feature. The house is a reasonable walking distance (or alternatively, a short, cheap ride) to the national mall.

    Margaret2018-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I only stayed for 12 hours as I needed a place to crash before catching an early flight the next day. Upon checking in I wish I could have stayed longer! Lovely looking place and a comfortable bed. I also appreciated the chance to do my laundry. Donna did not respond to any of my messages via the airbnb app. Having said that the check-in instructions were very clear so I had no issues.

    Yong2018-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Easy access to subway and well-maintained place. Did not meet owner of the place during my stay, and did not know there were other occupants in the house until they came in late in the night. But otherwise a fuss-free stay.

  • Great location and price

    Jackson2017-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a good time, look no further. I had such a blast with Mac and the lovely people I met staying there- I want to go back to DC just to stay here again! :)

    Laila2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan's apartment is a top-notch one. The whole building seems like a hotel and so does the apartment: It is quite luxury. The Check-in is really easy and his descriptions before arrival help a lot. I was not able to get to know Morgan, since he was traveling but instead I met one of his friends, who was really nice and chill. From the apartment, it is an approx. 10 minutes walk to get to the next subway to see the "interesting" part of DC or an overall 30 mins walk, if you don't want to take the subway. Both ways are easy to deal with. In the apartment itself, up to 6 other people can live with you. Therefore, the bathroom is not perfectly clean, which is to expected by so many people. Overall, I liked my stay at his apartment and would definitely go there again.

    Christoph2017-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan´s place is really good for spend a weekend. If you don´t have problem with share the bedroom with other guests( respectful, polite), this place is recommended for you! And actually you can meet other people. Really safe, and is close to the subway. The place is clean and you can use everything, the only thing was my bed didn´t make when I arrived, but Morgan changed the sheets and gave blanket and a clean towels.

    Maribel2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, Respond quickly when you have questions and is willing to help you out

    Mario2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great and affordable place to stay in DC! It was so cold this weekend so Morgan's place was a great way to warm up! I rented a car and the vicinity does have available parking (just make sure to read all the signs and ask the host for advice too - you may have to wake up early to pay the meter if you cannot find a free spot). It's also a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station making this an ideal location for public transportation too. As the pics of this place suggest, the host does run the airbnb hostel style in his apartment, so the place has a tendency to get rather crowded at times. Guests are also primarily male so keep in mind if you're looking for a spot where you need more privacy.

  • Mohammed was very friendly and courteous! His place was very clean and a great value if you’re planning to stay in DC!

    Zain2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • 5 stars across the board. Mohammed was a highly communicative, conscientious host. It was everything I needed for a quick work trip to DC: clean, secure, reliable, quiet, comfortable, and a great value for the location. Great home base for long days out.

    Kyle2019-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very clean, no-hassle, convenient, reasonably priced option located about two blocks from Mt. Vernon Square Station. Mohammed was very responsive and hospitable. The space is much nicer than it appears in pictures. A very low-stress, high-value option.

    Peter2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Mohammed's place, it was exactly as expected, I had a very comfortable sleep. I plan to stay there again when I'm next in Washington.

  • Was looking for a place to sleep while attending a conference at the convention centre downtown. Only a 5 minute walk away, easy to transit around the city, and way more affordable than a hotel room. Just needed the basics and that's what I got there. Highly recommended.

My apartment is a small, older studio located in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C. Just a 15-minute walk to the famous National Mall, the studio is located in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood, flooded with restaurants, bars, coffee shops and more. There really is no better location in D.C. The apartment is small but it is extremely functional. There is no kitchen to cook meals but I will be happy to provide coffee/tea. There is no parking on the premise but street parking is available.
There is no kitchen but I will always provide coffee/tea and light snacks. I have a 75 inch TV, with an Amazon Firestick that you will have access to if you need to relax. The bathroom is big and has all the necessities (shower, sink, toilet, etc.) and I will provide towels, toilet paper, and basic shower toiletries. I have a work desk you can use for your needs and drawers and a closet for your belongings. An ironing machine and iron board are also available
The studio is located in the center of downtown Washington, D.C. in the Shaw neighborhood. It is a 15 minute walk to the National Mall and all Smithsonian Museums. Three blocks away in D.C.'s famous 14th St. that is full of amazing restaurants, bars, clubs, coffee shops, shopping, everything! My favorite restaurant there is Ghibellina - a small, cozy Italian restaurant with an adorable windowsill bar. In addition, two blocks away is D.C.'s famous City Center - a beautiful retail destination that takes up three blocks. I recommend Centrolina in City Center - a coffee shop by day and restaurant by night!
  • Nice, cozy place in a great neighborhood.

  • Kristin’s apartment was the perfect spot for my quick trip to DC. It is small and you can hear others in the building, but it is lovely and Kristin is quick to answer and accommodate any need (she even let me check in early because I had an afternoon interview)!

    Mario2019-08-12T00:00:00Z

    Gabriele2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kristin's place is perfect for a short stay in DC. It's clean and in a great location. Her suggestion for dinner at Ghibellina was spot on! The building is quiet and feels very safe. I'd gladly stay there again when in town.

Comfortable, cute, cozy and fully separate eclectic studio apartment with queen-sized bed, dining/living area, kitchen with amenities (no full stove) & wifi. Located around the corner from the DC Convention Center and Shaw metro station. With amazing restaurants and bars within walking distance and proximity to great neighborhoods such as Chinatown and Logan Circle. You’ll be sure to enjoy your stay with us.
The studio apartment is in a super fun and vibrant part of the city with plenty of street traffic, pedestrians, and socialization. Therefore, no guarantee of zero noise pollution to peace and tranquility seekers. It's a basement unit and during the DC humidity there is a dehumidifier and air purifier that runs continually. The apartment would not be a good fit for those with allergies or noise sensitivities. You will get a great feel for the Shaw neighborhood by staying here. There are amazing restaurants, bars, bakeries, and coffee shops within feet of the apartment entrance. There is a large grocery store two blocks away. Please ask for recommendations - we are more than happy to point you in many great directions! The apartment is easily accessible by bus and metro -- you can get to any part of the city within minutes. If you prefer to walk or bike, notable spots like the National Mall and Smithsonian Museums are within a mile. We have a strict No Smokers requirement. Absolutely no smoking or any other smoking-like-activities on or near the property. We take pride in keeping our property and by extension, our neighborhood clean. This is a strictly enforced policy and any violation will result in the stay getting cancelled without a refund and an additional charge for all the costs involved in remediation. If you absolutely have to smoke, please utilize the area across the street near the parking lot and be sure to clean up after yourselves.
Shaw is a fantastic area to be in. There are so many new, fun, and exciting nooks to explore (check out Blagden Alley). Easily walk-able to nearby Chinatown or 14th St. for more great food and drink explorations.
  • This is a lovely, homey space close to the downtown. It is private and stylish, ideal for someone who wants to prepare their own meals and have a but of a neighbourhood experience. Ilissa was a great host, very responsive and helpful. She has two really gorgeous dogs that i was fortunate to meet. Her neighbours gather on their front stoop in the evenings and are happy to chat, offering some local colour. There are great restaurants nearby - an amazing Mexican place just at the corner and even a good nail salon (Red Sun) a 5 min walk. It is a tiny bit rustic due to it being a but Ilissa has capitalized well on this element, creating a stylish space. I would definitely stay again.

  • A great one bedroom basement apartment close to a metro station and a walkable distance (15 mins or so) to the Capitol area. It’s clean and warm, with great heating and cooling, a comfy bed, and a nice bathroom area. I’d recommend this place to any person or couple visiting DC.

    Sam2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with Ilissa's apartment. Close to the metro so easy to get to the airport & around the city. Great space for a couple, and the bed is very comfortable. Labor Day weekend was extremely hot but the air conditioning worked well. We appreciated a lot of small details that you don't always find - Saran Wrap, toiletries, soap. Very friendly next door neighbors.

    Elizabeth2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is located in a very safe and clean neighborhood with easy access to good restaurants near Logan Circle. It's spacious and stylish. A kitchen and a private bathroom made our stay very comfortable. However, because it's more like a basement , it was hard to get rid of the weird smell in our room even with a dehumidifier and open windows/doors, and that made me feel nauseous on the day of arrival. Everything else is good.

    Lan2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ilissa's place was perfect for our weekend trip! The location of the apartment is really nice near the metro station but you can easily walk in the city as well if you want to. I loved the interior of the apartment as well and everything was perfectly clean, it is just as in the pictures. I would definitely stay there again!

    Christina2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was clean but had a very strong smell similar to wet dog. It was rather difficult to deal with the smell the first night, but it is something that one can "get used to"... Ilissa is a great communicator and is quick to respond. The apartment has some nice restaurants nearby, but also some really sketchy places nearby.

    Alex2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place was super cute and in a great location to walk to the convention center and metro. Very cute places around to eat. Absolutely loved my stay!

    Ashley2018-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ilissa’s flat is lovely and the location is great. We were able to park opposite with the visitors pass but because of its location we were able to walk everywhere or use public transport. There were even some chalks for our daughter to colour on the chalkboard coffee table. What a lovely touch. Would highly recommend.

This is a very convenient sharing style apartment located in the heart of Washington D.C. Perfect for short terms and long terms! (Interns, students, and tourists) Perfect location. Safe neighborhood. Super clean apartment. All basic amenities provided. Apple TV with Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Well equipped kitchen. Gym. Clean shower towels, bedsheets, pillows, and blankets. Cabinet Lockers for your valuable stuff...and more!
This is a luxurious two bedroom apartment 2 bunk-beds in each room. With a spacious living room The apartment is very spacious and very clean It's located in a new neighborhood (Noma). Very quiet and most important, very safe! The building is very close to everything! Free parking and Zipcars are in front of the building.
  • Located in a quiet corner of DC, in a modern condominium complex equipped with a gym and business center next to the main lobby. The unit itself is modern and fairly new with free use of the kitchen and laundry facilities. The room, wardrobe and toilet are shared, but is generally kept clean and orderly. It is in a secured building but the unit door is somehow kept unlocked. Morgan was responsive to all my queries and requests. It's a good place to stay but can be a bit remote because there are no convenient stores, bars or restaurants within 3-5 minutes walking distance. A good 10 minutes walk to the nearest Metro station across busy roads.

  • A former student came to visit the US for the first time. He’s very shy, so I worried about putting him in an Air BnB, but Morgan was so kind and warm that my student felt right at home. Great location, easy access to the metro, and super quick and helpful responses. Thanks, Morgan!

    Rachel2019-07-06T00:00:00Z

  • Great place to stay in DC! I walked to all the monuments and museums from Sofia and Lee’s place, knowing full well I’d have a great place to rest at the end of day. Both Sofia and Lee were quick to respond to my questions both before and during my stay, making everything go seamlessly. I hope to stay here again next time!

Just 1.5 blocks from the Shaw/Howard U. Metro, this modern English basement apt. with gas fireplace & high ceilings is a walkable spot to a gourmet grocery store, bars, restaurants, the Convention Center, and Chinatown. The home has exposed brick, Bosch appliances, heated bathroom floor--just 5 metro stops to the White House, the Mall and museums. The Shaw neighborhood is vibrant, constantly changing and full of diversity and young people. A great value with an experienced & DC-licensed host!
You won't feel like you're in an English basement! Cozy up by the fireplace in the winter and enjoy the cool pad in the summer. Since this is a basement, please note my disclosures below in "other things to note." I personally refurbished this 140-year-old property with one of D.C.'s hottest architects. You can trust that I have taken great care to provide you with fine amenities and attention to detail. This 625 sq. ft. apartment is very comfortable for four people, with two in the bedroom and two others could sleep on the pull-out, queen-sized sofa. There are also 2 single Aerobed blow-up mattresses. If you are traveling as a family, I would consider more than 4 people, but it would be tight. If you need just one night's stay, contact me and we can work something out. I've priced the apartment very competitively using the variable rates AirBnB suggests, based on the time of year. The actual daily cost may be higher or lower than the standard daily rate advertised, but you will always feel like you're getting your money's worth compared to any hotel in DC. If you've used AirBnB before, you know you have to lower expectations just a bit as a budget-conscious traveler (but not too much with this apartment). I also tend to book up fast during peak seasons. Any dates that are grayed out on the calendar you see are booked by other guests. This apartment is a dedicated rental, 365 days a year. I can almost always allow guests to drop their bags after 12:00 noon, but the maid will need a 2-hour window to clean, which can be as late as 5 p.m.
Shaw is the hottest neighborhood in DC right now. There's a great city vibe with nearby bars and restaurants, including a great beer garden 1.5 blocks away. A new gourmet grocery store is only 4 blocks away--a nice stroll through the historic Shaw neighborhood. The colorful row houses were all built at the turn-of-the-century--a classic feature of D.C. Two take-outs are across the street: Chinese and Mediterranean/Indian will do in a pinch, and a 24-hour 7-11 is a block away.
  • This is the best accommodation experience we have ever had! Alan was incredibly professional in his manner, regularly keeping in contact with us days leading up to our stay. The level of detail he has gone to was very impressive, with detailed instructions on how to use the modern appliances and tips for the local attractions, eateries and bars. The apartment itself was very modern, we did not want to leave. The bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment had numerous nice touches, from the heated towel racks and floor in the bathroom, to the coffee maker and umbrellas for personal use. The TV was also very easy to use, with a huge selection of channels to choose from. The apartment is in an excellent location, only a short walk to the metro. This allows you to very quickly access all that Washington DC has to offer. Our stay in Washington DC was amazing. We would like to thank Alan for our stay. I highly recommend anyone staying in Washington DC not to hesitate and book with Alan.

    Luke2015-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Alan's apartment was just as described. He was very communicative and helpful. The location is very convenient.

  • I had a great time in DC. Alan made it easy to check in, his communication before and during was great. The apartment was very clean, looked like the pictures, and a great location. I would recommend any individual that just want to get away for a few days to visit his place. Great experience overall hands down. Thanks Alan!!

  • 6 stars!!! Amazing space furnished with top of the line amenities and furniture. We loved staying here and it’s close enough to walk into the DC centre if you choose. Very quiet neighbourhood as well which meant a good nights sleep. We also really appreciated the giant card and local tips brochure.

  • This apartment was cute, cozy, and clean. Excellent location for seeing the rest of the city, with a 5 minute walk to Shaw-Howard metro through a great neighborhood. The fireplace was to die for in winter! 10/10 would stay again.

    Danny2018-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • Really great host! Alan is super nice and went out of his way to follow up and make sure that we were looked after (pub recommendations, answered questions about transit and shuttles, tours, etc). Really nice and professional guy! Apartment is super modern and has really helpful features like dishwasher, laundry, tankless hot water and this made life easy in the evening. Thank you for a great stay!

    Karl2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment is absolutely fantasic! Only a 5 minute walk from tbe Shaw-Howard Metro station, which is on the same Yellow line as Reagan National Airport. The apartment was clean, with hard floors and nice appliances , including a Keurig fully stocked with pods. Bathroom was plush with the heated towel bars and floor. Nice neighborhood, close to bars (I ate at Right Proper Brewery - loved it!), and Giant Supermarket. Alan, although we never met or needed to ask for anything, was a very accomdating host, and communicated with me throughout my stay. Great place, great host!

Brand new, private, modern kitchenette has everything you need whether you want to make tea and toast in the morning, or a four-course meal. Flat-screen 40" television is connected to Apple TV, with access to our Netflix account. Wifi is included, and the unit has its own thermostat and heating / AC for your comfort any time of year. Enter the apartment from the private alley entrance through a modernist, plant-filled porch that surrounds the apartment - offering peace and quiet in the city. The apartment is a private suite closed off from our house. We'll leave the keys out for you but just knock or call if there is anything you need! The apartment is in the U Street corridor, with dozens of great restaurants, bars, and music venues and clubs. You'll be a five-minute walk (really) from the U Street metro stop (green line) and bus lines serving downtown, Georgetown, Union Station and more. We're also near several Capital Bikeshare stations, and many other car, bike, and scooter sharing services are in the neighborhood.
  • We really enjoyed staying with Nazgol. Its a great location near Logan circle and the U-Street hub. The studio is clean, modern and very comfortable including the pull out sofa bed which sleeps like a real bed. Nazgol was also very helpful to us with any questions we had concerning the local area. Would definitely stay again.

  • Absolutely nothing to complain about.we received all important information in advance. What we found was a totally new, carefully designed appartement with a top kitchen and modern bathroom. The bedsofa was cozy and comfortable. Altogether it was a great stay in a well renovated, absolutely clean appartement surrounded by one of the most vibrand quarters of D.C..Nazgol was a lovely host always available to answer any questions. We would always recommend it!

    Julia2015-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautiful, full of details that make you feel welcome; the super easy check-in and check-out and the independent entrance. The location is perfect and very beautiful, a few minutes from the center you can go to any point of the city with buses or subways. The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay; towels, sheets, blankets, full kitchen utensils, toaster, coffee maker, microwave oven ... Also wifi and Netflix. Nazgol and her husband have been excellent hosts, and always ready to solve any inconvenience. My stay there was wonderful and I would definitely go back, I absolutely recommend it!

    Bettina Isabel2018-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • My parents stayed there for two weeks and found the place comfortable, in a safe location (I was concerned that the entrance was in an alley but they didn’t have any issues with that). The sofa bed was comfortable even for my 70plus yo parents. The apartment is also in a great location to be able to walk around the city. All in all, they had a great experience. Would definitely recommend and they want to stay there again.

    Anca2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for 4 nights and it was absolutely brilliant! Everything was exactly how it had been described and the accommodation was super clean and very functional. Nazgol was lovely when I spoke with her and quick to respond. Would definitely stay here again when next in DC! Thanks for a lovely stay

    Kate2016-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nazgol's apartment was perfect for us, clean, charming, well-located and had every thing we need to cook. We really felt like we were at home. We didn't meet Nazgol but she explained every thing by email, where to eat, where is supermarket, how to use TV. Every thing was very easy for us. We had a very pleasant stay. Thanks a lot Nazgol.

    Anne-Laure2014-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely people who do whatever they can to help you. Great value in a good location to see DC. They have 2 lovely kids who were so quiet. We were shocked at how well behaved they are,

    Glen2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Nazgol's place! The word that comes to mind is "efficient." Though it's a small-ish space the design and layout really make the most of every square inch. There was plenty of storage space in the bathroom and closet for 2 guests. We loved that the commute to the metro station took just a few minutes and the route felt safe. We used the parking pass Nazgol provided and never had a problem finding parking in front of the house. Nazgol was quick to answer the questions we had and was also gracious to provide extra washcloths that we needed. We didn't realize there were brochures and info in the nightstand drawer until the day we left, so be sure to check the drawer when you first get there. The apartment guide Nazgol provides via email was also helpful. We definitely recommend this place!

  • Donna’s place was great for us! Clean, comfortable and we had a really nice guy staying in the other rented out room which was nice. All the amenities were fantastic, literally everything you need, well equipped kitchen to cook, washing tablets for machine, soft towels and lots of bathroom products. Location was good, if you don’t mind walking around 30 minutes you get to the national mall and there’s a huge Safeway 5 minutes walk away. We would definitely stay here again if in Washington. Thanks!

My house is located in the Shaw Neighborhood, better known as the heart of Washington, DC. I LOVE MY LOCATION. Surrounded by an assortment of restaurants, pubs, cafes, a beer garden, coffee-houses, carry-outs, & if you want to cook your own meals the grocery store is in the next block. Yet, with all this activity the neighborhood is well-lit, safe and relatively quiet on a metropolitan street. I have easy access to everything including, public transportation (trains, buses & planes).
There are no separate bedrooms, like most studios, it is one large clean room with amazing flooring, a queen size bed, several pillows, clean linen, extra blanket, a large closet with shelves for your things, an iron & full-size ironing board, a comfortable chair & ottoman to read or watch TV on a 40" adjustable HD TV with cable/streaming ability or sign-in to your own Netflix account, a workspace for a laptop, Wi-Fi, a small, yet, full kitchen, with new stainless steel appliances, pots & pans, dishes & silverware, a washer & dryer and a mid-size refrigerator, a clean bathroom with a spacious shower, no tub, clean towels, soap & small cups for mouth wash. The entire space is separate from the rest of the house, comfortable for no more than 2, GREAT for one. ONE OR TWO OCCUPANTS ONLY PLEASE.
Shaw is submerged in African-American History, named after the Civil War Colonel Robert Gould Shaw who was an American soldier in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He led the first all-black regiment. The neighborhood Shaw grew out of a freed slave military camp. Duke Ellington was born and lived in Shaw. The U Street Corridor became known as the “Black Broadway”. Big name stars played at nearby theaters that are still standing like the Howard Theater where Marvin Gaye played and many well-known performers. The six days of riots that erupted in Washington, D.C., following the assassination of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968, leaving 7th Street & the U Street corridor in ruins. The U Street corridor did not begin to recover economically until the opening of the U Street and Columbia Heights Metro stations in 1991 and 1999. Slowly, DC started changing from a widely held African American City to the current redevelop, flourishing, revitalize Shaw. There is an adage that says, “Change is inevitable Growth is optional”. Today, the Shaw neighborhood’s row houses remain, including the attractive Victorian houses, tucked amid the in vogue places currently on the scene.
  • A great, quiet location. The living area is spacious and extremely clean and contains everything you need for a comfortable stay. Jackie is a wonderful host and communicates very well.

  • Jackie’s place was awesome! Super cute studio apartment in the Shaw district. Within walking distance to many cool restaurants and bars and other stores. Metro and bike share are close and the national mall is an easy 1.5 mile walk. Jackie was prompt to get us a street parking pass and offer advice on the neighborhood. Very clean, soft sheets, blankets and towels. Nice mattress and 2 brand new A/C units. The place is beautifully remodeled and is perfect for 2 people.

    Amanda2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy, comfortable and convenient.

  • Jackie's place was perfect for our weekend in DC! She helped us out with a parking pass and she is so centrally located that we parked the car when we arrived and didn't crank it back up until it was time to leave. Her location is prime; coffee, grocery store, restaurants, metro station, even a bier garten around the corner. Jackie was lovely. If you want tips and insight into the area then she is your gal, and if you want to be left alone and not bothered during your stay, she is also your gal. Jackie was a great host! Her place was clean and the bed was comfy and it had all of the amenities one might need. I would definitely rebook with Jackie. Oh, and the price was a crazy deal! Great place, great host, great price, great weekend!!!

    Laurenashley2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie’s place was awesome and super comfortable! It’s in a great location one block from the subway or 15 minute walk from downtown / Logan’s circle! She was an excellent communicator and ensured we were okay each day. Thanks again for the generous hospitality, Jackie! We would definitely recommend staying at her place :)

    Jenna2019-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie's place is in a great location. It is walking distance to public transportation (Metro) shops, restaurants and some of Washington's best historic sites. You will not be disappointed. Her studio is immaculate with all up to date amenities, secure and private.

  • What a great little place!! On the third floor (no elevator) of a cute building just a block or two from the convention center metro stop, and a few blocks from the grocery store which was fantastic. The air conditioning was wonderful, as were windows that open so we could listen to the quiet at night! Great selection of books to read and Netflix to watch on the fire stick. Super responsive host. I hope we can stay there again on our next trip to DC!!

  • Great vibe, spacious, light for a lower level, just a delight. Location such that both the P Street/Logan and Shaw amenities are nearby. And Benjamin makes everything easy. I've stayed a number of places in the Shaw-Logan area and Benjamin's is a gem.

    Jonathan2019-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Benjamin’s place is such a steal with location. It’s close to everything and perfect for an individual or couple.

  • This was a lovely open studio apartment in Logan Circle—walking distance to restaurants, stores & bus stops—in a lovely historic neighborhood. There was a full kitchen —though dishwasher was not working—and a washer & dryer. The second bed is a pullout couch—but I didn’t need it. Spacious alternative to a hotel room & a good value for the price.

    Julia2019-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very convenient and a stylish, comfortable place to stay in the city - the host was very responsive and helpful, and my son and I enjoyed the place during the Thanksgiving holiday. Highly recommend!

About a 20 or 30 minute walk to the national mall so if your plan is to visit that area be prepared to walk. The area felt safe and there was free parking on the side of the building Saturday evening and all day Sunday!

Tastefully restored Victorian row house located blocks from the convention center. 10' lofty ceilings, crystal chandeliers, Persian carpets and modern amenities give it an old world charm w/ 21st century comfort. And people provide the heart & soul!
The double bedroom is located on the top floor of a three story Victorian row house. It hosts a double/full bed, dresser and mirror, nightstand and lamp, reading chair and table top, and lovely cozy Persian carpet. It has direct sunlight streaming through the window during the afternoon. The room is the middle bedroom, with the Master bedroom being at one end of the hall and a smaller, single bedroom located at the other. The hosts occupy the Master bedroom and an air bnb guest occupies the single bedroom at the end of the hall. Oh yea, there are two other permanent residents! Simba and Nala. They are rather large Maine Coone cats! Very sweet and loving, but terribly shy (unless they know you absolutely love kitties!) So please, if you have any allergies or just plain don't like cats, this may not be the place for you! All three bedrooms share one and a half bathrooms. Full bath located on top floor between the middle bedroom and single bedroom, half bath located on the main floor next to the kitchen. In addition, the main floor has the living/dining rooms, and kitchen. Access to the lovely back patio is also located on this floor. Being over a 130 years old, the house is quirky, which of course adds to it's charm. But we want our guests to be happy and fully aware, so let us describe a few. One: wooden floors on the stairs and in the hallway creak. Two: sounds. House is not loud, there are just noises - people on the staircase, or in the bathroom, traffic outside (although this room not so much), etc. You are in the heart of the city and a 130 year old house! It comes with the territory!
History, charm, culture, nightlife and a purely uptown vibe in one of DC's hottest neighborhoods right now! The area boasts quiet residential streets lined with turn-of-the-century row houses bordered by bustling commercial streets in between. New bars and restaurants are opening monthly, check out Dacha Beer Garden, Compass Coffee, Azizi, and Convivial Restaurant to name a few. The new City Market at O (one of three historic markets in DC and newly renovated in 2015) hosts a gourmet grocery store and is only around the corner. Also enjoy the sounds of jazz in the nearby historic U St. Corridor, a local choice for good food and good fun. Nearby parks include Shaw Recreation Center, Kennedy and Bundy Playground. There is also a tennis court and baseball field located there.
  • I don't have enough words to describe our wonderful experience at Elmar and Michele's place. They even arranged a pass to park our car with less than 12 hours notice from our side. We really enjoyed chatting with them at their living room once we got home every evening. This is the truly Airbnb spirit: get to know your hosts, their country, habits and traditions. We talked about American politics, current Catalonia status, food, travels, lifestyle, Barcelona, etc. They have lived such interesting experiences! You can see from minute 1 how they love hosting guests and it was a pleasure for us to share our free time with them after visiting DC. Special mention to their recommendation about Newseum, what a gem! The double room we stayed at was cosy and perfect: comfy bed and important to mention, AC. We wouldn't doubt a second to stay at their place in a future visit to DC.

    Miriam2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome by our lovely hosts. Michelle and Elmar are very obliging and friendly and provided us with lots of information about the area to enable us to make the most of our short stay. We really appreciated being given a lift on our first day, and again on our last day to the bus stop. Such a gesture of kindness which made a big difference. We were made to feel we were visiting family - taken into the living room and offered refreshments on our arrival. Our bedroom was very comfortable and cool (it was 100 degrees outside!) and all facilities were available for our use. Beautiful house with lots of character. The location is good, near transport - buses and metro. All in all, a lovely experience on our first visit to Washington. We hope to return one day - there is so much to see - and we would certainly want to stay with Michelle and Elmar again. Thank you for your kind hospitality. Rosemary & Graham

  • I thoroghly enjoyed my stay with Elmar and Michelle. They exemplify the best of AirBnB. They were welcoming and engaging. The room was exactly as advertised. The neighborhood was pleasant and well located for walking, biking and public transport, and I used it all.

    Stephen2016-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • The space was very quaint and charming. The middle bedroom where we stayed was small and cozy. Perfect for couples. The stairs leading to the bedroom is narrow yet our enormous luggage made it up. The house (as stated) is home to two kitties so please be advised that if you have ANY allergies do not book. Even mild allergies could trigger a reaction because it's a cozy small space. Other than that it's absolutely lovely. The house is located extremely close to the national mall and many of the main focal points of the city. Michelle was very helpful and communicated all we needed. She made our 1st airbnb experience a great one. Definitely recommend staying with her and Elmar.

But we want our guests to be happy and fully aware, so let us describe a few. One: wooden floors on the stairs and in the hallway creak. Two: sounds. House is not loud, there are just noises - people on the staircase, or in the bathroom, birds outside on the patio!
  • Amazing people in an amazing place. I have never met a woman as hospitable as Michelle. If you love the cats, this is your place in Washington DC.

    Julio2018-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Elmar and Michelle's place is very lovely. Everything is as described. It's cute, clean and is well located a few blocks from metro. You can also walk to places, admiring the townhouses and rowhouses of DC. Both Elmar and Michelle are very nice, friendly, and very accommodating. I'd recommend it to anyone. They have a few rooms / units listed on airbnb. I stayed at a single room. It's small but with lots of storage space and a window looking at the backyard. Enjoyed my stay here very much.

  • Imagine getting off the plane, lugging your bags through DC, and having your smiling host open the door of your Airbnb to welcome you into a little slice of paradise. Michelle and Elmar's are these people. Wonderful antiques and other appointments. Classy, European design. Spotless throughout. A pleasure to come home to in the evening after a long day or work or sightseeing. They set the standard so high, it's not fair to other hosts. By far the best Airbnb experience I've had anywhere. Wunderbar!!

    Mark2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was wonderful! Michelle and Elmar are gracious hosts who take pride in their home and welcoming all that visit. This location was very good with easy access to bikeshare racks, Metro subway, bus stops, etc. If back in DC I will definitely be staying with these "superhosts!"

    Rick2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Elmar and Michelle was absolutely wonderful! They are incredibly friendly and considerate hosts, and I felt at ease throughout the entirety of my stay with them. Everything about the stay was clean and comfortable, and they were communicative and accommodating from check-in to check-out.

  • I always talked with Wilson via Airbnb’s messages, he always answered them when I need it. About the Wilson’s place, generally comply with the promised; It is good for those who are looking mainly not be in their majority of time in the room (as in my case). The only things: 1) The zone is not always secure during at some times of the day (mainly the night, of course); 2) The room must to be more ventilated. Generally, I recommend it.

Decompress from your business travel in a stylish home that combines convenience with a cozy residential neighborhood. This 1800s retreat retains a great deal of historic charm, with feature fireplaces, sash windows, and hardwood floors. The location is perfect for conferences at the convention center, Marriott Marquis, or other downtown office buildings.
This rental is for one private bedroom (full size bed) and bathroom (not en suite but down the hall). Both the room and bathroom are on the 2nd floor of the house. You are welcome to use the common areas while staying here including the living room and kitchen.
The home has the best of both worlds: convenience to the convention center and downtown, yet the tranquil surroundings of a residential area (Logan Circle/Shaw) with great coffee shops, bakeries, bars, and restaurants just a block away.
  • My husband and I really enjoyed staying in this beautiful, extremely clean and well maintained home. We attended Greenbuild at the Convention Centre a mere 2 blocks away. Our hosts recommended excellent restaurants - we returned to one several times during our 4 day visit. We were pleasantly surprised that our hosts loaned us a street parking pass - this saved us paying for parking during our visit. The bed, bedding and towels all looked brand new. The bathroom was a bit bigger than our ensuite at home - with a huge glassed in shower. The hair dryer, shampoo etc made it even more welcoming. Our hosts graciously shared access to their kitchen giving us the opportunity to make coffee/tea before starting our busy days. They also shared wifi access. We both enjoyed our stay and are happy to recommend this Airbnb location to others visiting Washington.

  • This is a great place, particularly if you have an event at either the Convention Center or the Marriott Marquis. Spotlessly clean and kind hosts. Sadly I didn't have the chance to meet Nick and Shelley as my conference schedule had me up and out early and back late, but communication was easy and quick. Thanks for a terrific stay!

Inspiring NYC Studio loft style in the heart of Blagden alley historical district. Much effort was given to preserve this 1870 carriage house’s landmark legacy while remodeling in 2018: hardwood floors throughout, flooded with natural light, gourmet kitchen, King bed & extra beddings upon request. Set back in a quiet corner but from the pulse of Shaw & Logan. 1min walk to convention ctr, 6 to Verizon ctr, 15 to White H. Complimentary free local Gym access & free parking permit. WELCOME!
I am so excited Welcoming you in this unique place ! I should start with a little bit of a history ( all right I know I’ll make it quick just about Two minutes of reading so you can get Some Inspiring (i think) background about the place. Blagden Alley is a historic district defined by middle-class residences, churches and small apartment buildings which display a rich variety of Victorian architectural styles dating from the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s to the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s. In the interior of each block are extant examples of utilitarian alley dwellings, such as working class residences, stables and commercial buildings that are hidden behind the buildings facing the streets. The area illustrates how different classes, races and services were physically organized in the 19th-century city of Washington. The names Blagden Alley and Naylor Court were derived from two 19th-century property owners, Thomas Blagden and Dickerson Nailor. Blagden owned property in the area and ran a lumberyard in the city. Dickerson Nailor (now spelled Naylor) also owned property and was a grocer. After the Civil War, Washington's downtown became increasingly commercial and residential development grew north to the Blagden Alley area in the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s and attracted several prestigious, affluent residents. The elegant townhouse, the Blanche K. Bruce House (NHL) at 909 M Street was constructed in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Bruce was the first African American to serve as a Senator in Congress (R-Miss, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) To the south was a house built by Alexander "Boss" Shepard, the chief of the Board of Public Works during the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s. Streetcar lines connected 9th and 7th Streets with downtown in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , and these streets served as the main commercial corridors. After the Civil War, many African Americans migrated to Washington and came to live in the alley dwellings. They were small and poorly constructed buildings, mainly of wood and brick. The living conditions were overcrowded and unsanitary. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, there were concentrated efforts to have the alley dwellings demolished. Bladgen Alley and Naylor Court are two of only a handful of alleys which are extant. The Blagden Alley neighborhood continued to serve as a closely-knit, racially mixed middle and working class neighborhood into the 20th century. However, the widening of 9th Street with its subsequent loss of street trees and yards, the flight of the middle class to the suburbs, the increase of absentee landlords and the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) riots led to deterioration of the area. Today, there is interest in renovating and restoring the homes. New residents have been attracted to the area by the charm of the buildings and the proximity to downtown. So you know the big picture. On the logistics side to recap the space is bright spacious (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) sq ft, totally open and changeable. Brand new kitchen appliances and state of the art Cuisinart tools . Security system extremely safe especially for Single woman traveler. Any question of further detail you may have about a specific of the place Just ask! 3/4 guests staying with here are couples or single business traveler. I often organize the space differently for a long stay or any special requests if you need to set up a desk area, a meeting room, A/V material I have everything you need. The space is indeed regularly used as an offsite meeting location for events at the convention center. 1/4 of guests staying here are mostly, couple with Younger children, groups of friends, Siblings or special occasion getaway trip. I can accommodate special and extra bedding as requested. Although There is a NO hard party policy, I do take reservations for small events and Gathering, Let me know what the details are and we will try to work out something together.
The loft is in the heart of Blagden Alley historical district. Walk to the Convention Center, Verizon Center, and the White House. Many unmissable hot spots are around the corner, including artists' workspaces, food markets, shops, and restaurants.
  • Louis and team were super helpful during our stay. The loft was nicely decorated with a modern feel and everything is accurate to the pictures. This space met our expectations and more! Upon arrival we were greeted and given a high level overview of the space, location and parking advice. Luckily we were here on the weekend and were able to secure a parking spot in front of the loft which was free during weekends. The convention center is 5 min walk (AMAZING) as well as grocery shops. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who’s looking for an amazing space with great hosts, convenient location and affordable price and great coffee shops near by. If I come back to DC, this would be where I would stay!

    Aya & Ismael2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Louis’s place is impeccable. It’s a large stylish loft with every amenity you could think of. It was spotlessly clean, and included high-end toiletries as well as other sundries. In addition, there was a nice selection of coffee and breakfast bars. Louis was a fantastic host and met us prior to check-in so we could leave our car there and sightsee. There are stairs up to the living area which were not a problem for us. We walked to the museums from there because we like to walk, but you could easily take public transportation or Uber. I would suggest bringing a sleeping mask because it does get light. The light adds to the charm, but if you’re not an early riser, you may not appreciate it. A fantastic stay with a fantastic host!

    Karen2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time in Louis's space. The apartment was super cute, modern, and nice and clean! He was very accommodating with me and my check in time since I only needed his space for 1 day. All in all couldn't have asked for a better experience! Definitely a gem if you're staying in DC

    Shannon2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Louis has created a stylish, beautiful, and comfortable space in his loft! The amenities were above and beyond (toiletries, snacks, and the bin of items that might be needed), the location was conveniently located to markets, bars, and restaurants, and Louis was a helpful, responsive, and welcoming host. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

    Zaina2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Louis is a very friendly host, who really has prepared the loft with everything you need! Especially the baby stuff (crib, chair...). Only with a toddler you need to watch out for all the nice furniture. :-)

This wonderfully spacious apartment is located within the vibrant and artsy district of Shaw. It boasts a large open plan living space (with queen size sofa bed) and modern kitchen, guest powder room, main bathroom, bedroom, and laundry room. Read our fabulous reviews!
The apartment is located in the heart of the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, DC. There are many restaurants, bars and shops throughout the neighborhood. We are located approximately 2 blocks from the DC Convention Center in addition to the Mt. Vernon Square - 7th Street metro stop. The National Mall is a quick walk away.
  • Matt's place was situated in a great location by the metro, great restaurants and coffeeshops. The home was stylishly designed, and very comfortable. Matt was very responsive when I had issues and his neighbour was also on hand to help out. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend his home to others.

    Carolina2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Matt’s apartment was beautiful, in a great location and had almost everything that we needed. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed dining st the uncommon diner and grocery store nearby. We experienced some issues with the WiFi, and there was some miscommunication regarding a crib. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

    Lindsay2018-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I stayed at Matt's house and absolutely loved it. It is just as the pictures show--impeccably decorated, very simple and elegant. It was super clean, too. It was quiet, quiet, quiet. Yay! Yet, the neighborhood had a ton of offerings: bars, restaurants, and even a grocery store. I was wondering if we'd feel isolated, since we weren't in Dupont Circle. No need. This area has it all. It's hip without the overweening hipster scene that can get so tiresome. My favorite part of it was all the cafes and restaurants hiding away in the labyrinth of the alleys. So cool! The only reason I gave less stars for the check-in procedure is because the guests before us (?) broke the lock, so, with all our luggage, laptops, etc., and having traveled from New York City, we had to ride out the rain until Matt could come and rescue us. Thankfully he responded quickly and outside of half an hour we were warm and dry. He gave us credit for the inconvenience we experienced trying to get in that day and evening, which was nice. Also, he had the lock fixed the next day, so we were able to get in and out easily. Matt himself was very charming. I was a bit frazzled after not being able to get in, and he offered us a drink :-) he let me hold his dog, who I wanted to take home with me, or at least for the night. There is a bedroom, and I slept comfortably on the sofa, so if you're traveling with a friend, it's quite convenient. I would totally stay at Matt's place again and recommend it without reservation. The apartment has a full kitchen and a sodastream and everything. You'll love it!

    Regina2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures are very modest. The space looks even better in person. We used the space to do a shoot and Matt was very accommodating and forgiving. We are glad we picked this space. Only thing is parking, good luck lol.
