  • I battled for almost 3 hours to access the parking and ended up having to stay at another location. I had to consistently contact the host to get updates and confirm what the arrangements would be. The second day was cancelled by the host and was only informed once I made contact with the host at 11 am the morning. The security at the place denied access and informed me that they consistently have access issues with this unit being listed for Airbnb.

    The apartment has a studio layout with an open plan kitchen looking onto the sleeping area. There is a wall mounted T.v that faces the double bed that has Netflix and Youtube access.   • Good value for money! I friend and I are locals of the Cape Town area (Northern Suburbs and Stellenbosch), we were meeting a friend from Germany for the weekend and didn't want to drive everyday. This is an ideal apartment for tourists. It is centrally located to the main and buzzing streets of Cape Town like Long Street, Bree Street and and all of the surrounding hip areas. It gives quite the South African Culture experience with the apartment looking over Green market Square. Just a note: if sleeping in is what you are looking for, the set up of the market early in the morning might bother you when you want to sleep in. The apartment is as on the photo's. Generally clean en stylish. Check in and check out was easy with the building's security. Also felt safe with 24 hr security. Being true South Africans we were a bit worried about the parking outside the building. Although nothing happened we couldn't help to feel a bit worried about our car during the evenings. During the day you can park in the surrounding streets, Long and Adderley, where you need to pay. When we arrived back later at night, the street in front of the building was open and we could park there. You just have to move your car before 9 am the following morning. Parking is not ideal, but if you make use of uber or mycity buses it is ideal. All in all we enjoyed our stay in the apartment and what we were in the city for. We can recommend it.

  • After a week stay in Cape Town Josh’s place was the last place I stayed at I wish it was the first because ending on that note was rather disappointing. The positives -The place is in a secured building -There is breakfast that’s served at cafe next door which was nice What I didn’t like - The kettle in the kitchen was not clean on the outside nor were the dishes clean they were grubby and just plain off putting. No dish washing liquid to even clean it I automatically question the cleanliness of the whole unit if the kitchen is not clean especially the bathroom and bedding. - There were sachets of coffee and sugar and particularly a mini pack of five roses tea which was actually opened as if one tea bag had been taken out this was distasteful to me I understand that guests don’t use the amenity but it’s off putting knowing that I used someone’s left overs - it is extremely cold in winter it feels like there’s an air con on the other side of the door just pushing air through the bottom and side openings of the door, I had to use a towel to block that cold her coming in from the bottom the wall heater is far from the bed so it’s ineffective - worst of all the cold water pressure was fine but hot water was a mess it was low and I couldn’t take a hot shower because it was not even hot. It was just a mess especially in winter - all in all small touches lacked and it was not a place I’d go to again

  • Location: This is a really great space to stay even for your first Cape Town visit. Location is great for business or for vacation purposes, most of the major attractions are a short Uber ride away; bus and train nearby. I had early mornings and late nights and felt comfortable walking in and out at all times. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Apartment: Really clean and comfortable. The flat is secure and quiet, which is quite nice considering it is so close to some of the liveliest parts of the city. The flat had all of the extra's that I needed, and the Wifi was good Host: Shaun met me promptly when I got there and showed me around the space, and he was available to answer questions

  • Beware!! I do not recommend to anyone!! I was told when I arrived to Cape Town, I could drop off my bags there in the morning but the place wouldn’t be cleaned until after 3. I was fine with that. I drove my rental car to the area where I was staying and I could not find the building. It took me an hour to find it. Btw they don’t offer parking. They told me to park at an grocery store near by. Finally get to the place and the key was not in the lockbox. I had to leave to meet friends of mine to make an arrangement we had planned. Later that afternoon, josh told me He had double booked the room. And he wanted me to stay two floors down in a one bedroom. I didn’t agree initially. I wanted to see pictures of the room to make sure I liked it. He sent them to me and I agreed to stay there. When I got back to my place at 10 pm. He never sent me the lockbox code for the one bedroom apartment. I called him 20 times. He never picked up! I was so pissed!!! 🤬🤬 So I decided to go back to room I initially booked to see if anyone was there. The room was empty. No one was in the room. So without his permission I stayed in the apartment i originally booked. He never called me back! The next morning he sent me a message asking me how was my stay?? I didn’t respond 😡😡😡 please stay away from this place!! He is a Liar!!

We have equipped the apartment with an Xbox console and a large selection of games for your entertainment. For the more adventurous person, hop onto the My City Bus located directly opposite the apartment , and for as little as 2 dollars travel safely to one of the many My City destinations across the Western Cape. Alternatively Uber is very affordable in Cape Town and is another great way to get around. For your convenience there are self service laundry machines located on two floors in the building. The building is also equipped with two gym areas, which may be utilised free of charge.

We are lucky enough to be able to walk to most places; Woolworths, Pharmacy, ATM, bank, MyCiti Bus, and the city's busy Bree Street. We are friendly, down-to-earth and are happy to give you any travelling tips and guidance. As happy as we are to help, we will also respect your space and privacy.
    We are offering the second bedroom in our flat. Guests will have their own loo, basin and shower, however, we share the shower sometimes, as the bath in our bedroom uses too much water.

    Stepping into the space you get a feel of light and space. Although the apartment is a studio, it feels remarkably spacious with its wall of windows and glass door leading to the balcony. White shutters lends to it a seaside feel making you feel like your by the ocean although based in the city. The apartment is decorated in neutral colors and lends to it a European feel with wood floors, contemporary furniture and lighting. As you enter the apartment, you step into the kitchen with the bathroom leading to the rights. The bathroom is spacious with a full bath and shower over the bath. The lighting can be dimmed to give a more relaxing atmosphere. Walking through the kitchen you enter the lounge / bedroom with feels separate and spacious. From there you lead onto the balcony which is north facing letting in natural daylight and wonderful sun.

By the time Prince Alfred* tipped the first load of stone into the sea to initiate construction of Cape Town's harbour, the trade routes to the East had transformed the city into a hive of seafront activity. The discovery of gold and diamonds in South Africa meant that the first section of harbour, the Alfred Basin, had to be added to and the Victoria Basin was built. (* Prince Alfred was Queen Victoria's second son) The construction of the two harbour basins took place between 1860 and 1920, and the area is notable for its outstanding heritage buildings. It retains the charm of Victorian industrial architecture and the scale of a harbour built for sail and the early days of steam travel. In the 1970s, containerisation had developed worldwide as the major method of cargo handling and transportation. It was this, together with South Africa's economic isolation at the time and the reopening of the Suez Canal, that led to a sharp reduction in the utilisation of land and harbour facilities surrounding the Victoria & Alfred Basins. At the time, Transnet was in the process of rationalising harbour facilities and reviewing its harbour and other land holdings with particular emphasis on the returns being generated by these assets. Over the past 140 years, the harbour has undergone numerous changes, which continue even today with the redevelopment of land and buildings surrounding the original Victoria & Alfred Basins. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront project is the culmination of nearly three decades of planning and development proposals. THE CLOCK TOWER: Situated near the site of the original Bertie's Landing Restaurant, the Victorian Gothic-style Clock Tower has always been an icon of the old docks and has become an important focal point in the Waterfront's recent urban design. This was the original Port Captain's Office completed in 1882. On the second floor is a decorative mirror room, which enabled the Port Captain to have a view of all activities in the harbour. On the bottom floor is a tide-gauge mechanism used to check the level of the tide. Restoration of the Clock Tower was completed towards the end of 1997. TIME BALL TOWER: The Time Ball (invented by Captain Robert Wauchope) is a signaling device in which a ball is dropped at a given time in order for ships' masters to determine the error and rate of their chronometers whilst in harbour. The Time Ball Tower in the Waterfront was built in 1894 and is situated next the Harbour Engineer's former residence (Dock House). It remained in use for 40 years after which new technology led to it lying idle for 63 years before being restored and officially recommissioned in November 1997. ROBBEN ISLAND EMBARKATION BUILDING: At the end of Quay 5 on Jetty 1 is the embarkation building for prisoners sent to Robben Island. Although the purpose and use of the island changed a number of times over the last century or so, it more recently gained international notoriety as a prison for contemporary political figures including South Africa's first democratically elected President, Nelson Mandela. The Robben Island Exhibition and Information Centre situated next door to the Clock Tower building, is a unique museum depicting the history of Robben Island and the political struggle to overthrow apartheid. Bookings for guided tours are essential, and can be made at tel: +27 (0)21 419 1300. Daily ferry trips to Robben Island depart from the jetty near the Robben Island Exhibition and Information Centre in the Clock Tower Precinct and from the Robben Island Embarkation Building on Jetty 1. Guided tours and bus tours on the island include a visit to the prison with viewing of the limestone quarry, Garrison Church (1841), lighthouse (1863), Leper's Church (1895) and a Kramat. Seabirds, African penguins, ostriches and bontebok are some of the wildlife on the island. Tickets may be purchased from the Embarkation Building. SEAL LANDING: It is unusual to get a close view of seals, as offshore islands are their preferred breeding grounds. A colony of Cape fur seals are however a familiar sight resting on the seal landing in the Clock Tower Precinct next to the original Bertie's Landing Restaurant and on old tyres lining the quaysides around the Waterfront. They are an integral part of harbour life and Capetonians are fortunate enough to have these seals living in such close proximity. BREAKWATER PRISON: The original Breakwater Prison was constructed in 1860 to house the convicts working on the breakwater. A dramatic reminder of the punitive penal attitudes prevalent in the 1890's is the remains of a treadmill visible alongside the former prison building, now housing the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business and the Breakwater Lodge - a comfortable hotel. SOUTH AFRICAN MARITIME MUSEUM: The museum showcases the maritime history of Table Bay and houses the largest collection of model ships in South Africa. Floating exhibits in the Victoria and Alfred Basins include the SAS Somerset - a retired Naval Defence Boom Vessel and the Alwyn Vintcent - a coal-fired steam tug. CHAVONNES BATTERY MUSEUM: Of particular significance to the new Clock Tower Precinct development, is its historical base - the Clock Tower, itself a national monument. Recently, preliminary excavation uncovered a portion of the Chavonnes Battery, which is one of the oldest European structures in South Africa, built in the early 1700's. Investigations conducted by the Archaeology Contracts Office at the Department of Archaeology at the University of Cape Town have yielded a full report on the history of the battery. Built in 1714-1725 by the Dutch East India Company, the Chavonnes Battery was designed to further protect the Cape, together with Fort Knokke and the Amsterdam Battery. Eyewitness accounts described the Chavonnes Battery as being the most formidable of the Table Bay fortifications. By mid-19th century, the Chavonnes Battery had been put to a number of uses. Besides serving a military role, it was used as an isolation and convalescent wing of the old Somerset Hospital. Crews and passengers of ships stricken with contagious illnesses such as smallpox were confined to the battery until they were considered fit. The Battery was decommissioned in 1861. As part of the new development, the Chavonnes Battery has been retained and part of the ruins opened to the public for viewing - and acts as a real feature of the Clock Tower Precinct.

We had just returned from full body massages after running the Two Oceans marathon and we really wanted hot showers and to head out for our last supper date which was pre-booked. It took Jonathan less than an hour to offer us x3 alternative accommodation options and assist in relocating to a unit in the same building in under an hour. We were sorted with very little inconvenience to us. This kind of situation can really make or break a holiday. Besides the fact that the unit was clean, the bed was warm, the Netflix was a joy, the management of this burst geyser situation made all the difference to our stay.

  • we were very disappointed that the host did not give any information on the water crisis in cape town as it is a crucial matter which affects everybody. also it would have been nice to know how to contribute to the collective effort of saving water. the bed is much smaller than it looks like on the pictures, internet is very weak or off (after several times of asking the host to fix it, he wrote us, that it should be used only for whatsapp and mail). we‘ve never met the host in person, answers to out requests took hours. you could and should find better if you don’t go very last minute as we did!

  • The building lobby is located at the pedestrian walkway of St George's Mall, not on bustling strand street. So for guests with cars, get ready to find a closest spot to stop for 5min to go to the mailbox located in front of the reception counter in the lobby to get the keys. Get the parking lot number from the host as you can only park in allotted spot. We were not lucky with our experience, I am sure the host often tries his best and was indeed responsive. However during our stay, the studio apartment was not clean and with a wifi that did not work.

There are two laundromats in the building, one on the first floor and the other on the third floor. A communal work area can also be found on the first floor. There is a gym located on the second floor.On the seventh floor of the building are two open air decks that can be used for smokers or people who would like to enjoy the sunshine during the day. This space provides you with a secure place to rest your head while still being able to access all of Cape Towns great attractions.
    The Heriot is located in the very popular communal hub known as Thibault Square. The square is on the Foreshore end of the Cape Town CBD. The area is synonymous with being one of the major commercial and retail hubs for Cape Town. The area is extremely central and it allows you to get to several major attractions within a 5 to 15 minute drive including the V&A Waterfront, ICC Conference Centre, Lions Head, Table Mountain and the Sea Point Promenade. The Dragon Tree is another highlight of the V&A Waterfront. Planted next to the Time Ball Tower it is a species originally from the Canary Islands. Well over 100 years old, this is one of the largest of its type in Cape Town. Believed to have been planted by a sailor passing through Cape Town, the sap of these trees was once popular as a medicine to treat dysentery. Unfortunately, the Dragon Tree was severely damaged by storms in 2001. Today, the leaves of the tree have been cut off to allow the tree to regenerate. Adjacent to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island, the Clock Tower is a favourite amongst locals and internationals. The Victorian-style Clock Tower has always been an icon of the old docks and has become an important focal point in the Waterfront’s recent urban design. This was the original Port Captain’s office, completed in 1882. On the second floor is a decorative mirror room, which enabled the Port Captain to have a view of all activities in the harbour. On the bottom floor is a tide-gauge mechanism used to check the level of the tide. Restoration of the Clock Tower was completed towards the end of 1997.   • The apartment was a great location and very accurate in comparison to the photos. However, it had not been cleaned since the previous guests had stayed. It was in a state. We arrived to a very disappointing site. We immediately called Csaba who was very apologetic. And I do have to give him credit that they arrived in a good amount of time to come clean and he explained there had been a system error with our booking. I wouldn't let this put anyone off booking this apartment as the rest of our stay was great and the location was very close to the lovely Waterfront. We loved staying!!

  • Csaba's place was perfectly clean and the right size for one or two. It was easily walkable (5 minutes or less) to CTICC. Plus, an enjoyable walk along the waterways and up to the Waterfront for shopping or picking up the HopOnHopOff bus at the Aquarium. The restaurant at the hotel next door is within steps of the front door of the complex, and it's open until 10:00 pm, so it's a safe and accessible place to eat late.

    Greenmarket Place has it's own gym and roof top swimming pool. 24 hour security at the front desk makes the check in process super easy. The parking bay is on the same level as the apartment - easy to park, go through the security door and enter the apartment within 20 metres. The apartment doesn't have views of the square or Table mountain but looks onto a courtyard.
    The apartment is close to the social life in Cape Town, and Bree street. The best breakfast can be found at Skinny Legs Café or Clarkes. You are one block away from the Secret Gin Bar, La Parada, House of Machine and may more trendy bars. If you like dining out, some of the best restaurants in the city are up the road (literally). Make sure to book a table at Shortmarket Club, Chefs Warehouse or HQ Restaurant. For rooftop drinks, try Gorgeous George, Tjing Tjing or many others on Bree Street.
