  • Good size and comfortable place. We stayed for a wedding and it gave us enough room to get ready and a comfy place to crash afterwards. Emma’s Hospitality was much appreciated!

  • This was our first experience of AirBNB and was an amazing introduction. The bungalow was lovely, everything was clean and we really appreciated the small touches of bread, butter, milk etc. We would definitely recommend staying in the bijou bungalow again!

  • Really nice place, great location and great host.

    Ben2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for one night before hiring a camper for the week to travel Peak District, Belper is a lovely area and Emma’s bungalow is so nice and clean, well laid out and had absolutely everything we could of wanted, such a lovely touch leaving cereals, milk eggs butter orange juice, even shampoo conditioner shower gel cotton buds, slippers, fresh fluffy towels and flannels we didn’t even need to unpack our bags as everything was provided. Even how the bungalow is situated with its own bit of driveway doesn’t make you feel intrusive as you can come and go as you please, will definitely return next time we visit Belper. Thank you x x

  • Lovely cottage right in the centre of town . Well equipped and a very relaxing place

    Dan2019-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • The property was really clean and tidy and was furnished to a high standard. It had plenty of communal space for relaxing in (inside and out) and very convenient off-street parking. The book shelf was a lovely little touch too. The property is a short walk from the train station and is in a great location for the centre of Belper. Check in and check out was very smooth and operated via a key safe box. I highly recommend staying in Amy's property!

    Laura2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Can not fault Amy's house. Everything was spotless & stylish - smells gorgeous as soon as you walk through the door! Garden / patio area is private and a joy to sit in during the hot week we had in Belper. Centre of town location ideal for getting around. Toiletries and basic food much appreciated. Check-in & communication great, highly recommended :)

    Melanie2018-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic homely place in an amazing central location, Amy the host was very considerate and attentive. Perfect stay, home from home with everything catered for. We loved our stay here thank you.

    Jem And Jim2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Amy was a lovely host and extremely helpful. She went well out of her way to assist us late on at night, and we couldn't have been more grateful. The cottage is lovely; well furnished with everything that you could need for a short break away, even down to smaller details like pain relief, toothpaste and shampoo! It has an enclosed courtyard garden which is good to sit in with a morning cuppa, parking right outside the door, and it is within walking distance of all the local amenities. Belper is in a pretty area, and the cottage location suits this, being quiet in the morning if you want a lie in too. Highly recommend visting, and thanks Amy for being a fab host.

The place was characterful and we appreciated the special touches such as the fresh garden flowers dotted around the property, and the fantastic selection of food left for breakfast. As a young family of 4, we were well accommodated for, and the children really enjoyed it too. Many thanks Jennie and Dirk!

A delightful grade II listed cottage situated on the A6 in the village of Milford. The cottage is perfect for a get-away, The village has good pubs and restaurants and is only a short drive in to the Town of Belper and Derby City or why not make use of the fantastic public transport links to explore the Peak District.
Our Cottage is Grade II listed and retains many of the original features but also has the benefit of modern comfy furniture and smart TV and WiF.
With-in the Neighbourhood there a 2 good pubs the King William in Milford and the famous Holly Bush just 10 mins walk away in Makeney. There is also a 2 restaurants The New Inn serving traditional pub food and some more A-Le-Cart style dishes and the SOI on the wirer an International buffet style restaurant. There are plenty of walks through the countryside to explore.
  • Beautifully decorated house but great shame that the wood burning stove does not work. The extremely low door frames and stairs caused considerable inconvenience and we were unaware of this as there was no mention of them in the description. Lots of road noise and the bus stop directly outside the house were a disappointment and inconvenience. The bathroom leaks into the kitchen.

    Christophe2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage which would suit one or two people visiting this area. A local bus service stops outside and there are lots of places nearby to visit- we particularly enjoyed Matlock Bath and Keddleston Hall. The cottage looked like it has been recently renovated, but retains its low doorways, beams and exposed stonework- you have to watch your head but it gives it character! We parked our car just down the road near the church, a mere couple of minutes walk away. The two charming pubs nearby were great for evening drinks and we ate at the White Hart in Duffield, which was really nice.

Chapel Mews is one half of a Grade II listed former chapel with great views over the surrounding countryside. It has a large open plan living/dining room and kitchen with antique table and comfortable sofas. 2 good sized double/twin bedrooms. Belper town centre with shops, restaurants, pubs and a cinema is within walking distance. Easy access to all areas of Derbyshire/Peaks. Very good WI-FI.
Our 2 double bedroomed, grade 2 listed former chapel makes for a lovely stay in the historic Derbyshire mill town of Belper which has great amenities and transport links to The Derbyshire Peak District. We have furnished with a mix of vintage and modern pieces and a few cosy touches to make you feel at home. The ground floor is a spacious, open plan space with tall 3m high ceilings that you might expect from an old chapel. The kitchen is very well equipped with a range cooker, microwave and dishwasher and plenty of crockery and utensils. There is also a coffee machine and we provide free tea and coffee. There are plenty of books, a few games and a smart TV to entertain you during your stay. We also have Wi-Fi with a very good signal. The open staircase that leads from the rear of the ground floor has a big window that offers great views and there is a galleried landing at the top. Upstairs the large master bedroom has a super king size bed that can be split into 2 singles (just let us know if you need it making up as single beds). The second bedroom has a comfortable standard size double bed and benefits from views over the surrounding countryside. Both bedrooms are big enough to accommodate an infants travel cot which we can provide on request. There is a double sofa bed in the living room for which we provide bed linen on request or for bookings of 5 or more. There is one family bathroom with the shower over the bath. The shower has good pressure and is on a hose so can be lowered for those who don't want to wash their hair every day! Outside, there is a small decking area at the front of the house with garden furniture so you will be able to sit outside with your morning coffee or a nice cup of tea and maybe a old beer or glass of wine in the evening. Free on-road parking is directly outside the front of the chapel and there is space for more than one vehicle within a few metres with no parking restrictions. If you travel by public transport Belper train Station and the main bus depot are less than a mile away. We send out further information on local restaurants and places of interest when your booking is confirmed and are always happy to help with any special requests. There are books and maps with plenty of Derbyshire walks in the chapel when you arrive. The Wi-Fi signal s also very good for you to research the area further.
Belper is a lovely historic Derbyshire mill town and the chapel is only a 10-15 minute (uphill) walk from the town centre which offers independent shops, restaurants, pubs and the art deco style Ritz cinema. The river gardens with play area is also popular with all ages. There are lots of places of interest and things to do locally which makes this a great base to explore Derbyshire from.
  • A warm welcome to a fabulous place to stay. Everything you could possibly need was thoughtfully provided.

  • It’s so lovely when you arrive somewhere and it is beyond your expectations. The house is beautiful and decorated and dressed clearly by someone who has a great eye. The beds were comfy and the linens and towels were really nice quality. Good bathroom and nice little touches like body lotion! The kitchen we LOVED. Everything was good quality and everything we needed. Would absolutely recommend this lovely home and if we went back that way we’d all love to stay there again

    Gill2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, very clean, beautiful views. Nice location in Peak District. We stayed during heat wave in July so the only issue we had was that is was sweltering hot inside and some of the windows didn’t open. A fan was provided in one of the bedrooms. We’d stay again!

    Yoko2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation. Well appointed throughout.

    Ken2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We used this as a base why we were visiting Alton Towers and couldn't believe how lucky we were to book it! The house is spotless, the facilities excellent and the views breathtaking. We loved all the vintage china throughout the house which added to the charm of the place and the house itself is finished to a high standard and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom has lovely toiletries and the beds are extremely comfortable! We will definitely be back.

    Pete2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • I am a great believer in the old adage that there is no place like home but this is probably as close as any place has come. Immediately we walked in through the door we felt relaxed. This is a beautiful property and we will definitely be returning.

No18 is a unique, welcoming home-from-home nestled in the heart of historic Belper with views of Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The house is ideally situated, only five minutes from the train station and the town centre with its popular high street. No 18 has been carefully renovated, using second-hand furniture and materials wherever possible and featuring work by local artists. All items in the house are for sale, so guests can take a souvenir home with them should they wish to!
In case it's not clear from the listing, we are committed to fair pricing and we charge a fixed nightly rate, which remains the same all year round. This means there is no confusing price structure to understand and those wanting to go away during the school holidays are not unfairly penalised. We're also committed to using second hand/repaired items wherever possible. This has created what we hope is a unique, contemporary & homely environment, with a strong design element. We support local artists by featuring their work on the walls and we believe in giving things a second chance that others might throw away. For example we fitted the kitchen units with old car door handles from the 1950s and the king-size bed in the loft was made by Tony from an old pine door and some timber left over from the loft conversion.
Our neighbourhhood is called 'The Clusters' and was built by Jedidiah Strutt for workers in the historic mills that still remain in Belper and form part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. George Street is one of three streets named after the Strutt sons and still retains a strong sense of community & historic charm. Our neighbours are friendly and always take the time to say hello. We kindly ask that guests respect our neighbours and that noise is kept to an acceptable level at night.

  • Rowen and Tony have the most fabulous taste - the house is stylishly decked out and so comfortable. I was staying with some members of my bridal party the two nights before my wedding and we couldn't have been more comfortable. Rowen & Tony made check-in very easy and only live two doors down, always making themselves available. We had a lovely stay and would absolutely recommend their place.

  • Unique and amazingly decorated cottage. Everything you could ask for (comfy beds, super clean, hot shower, great kitchen) plus more ... lots of characterful items, real fires, music system, film projector with huge library of DVDs and books. Quietest sleep ever yet in the heart of Belper to walk everywhere. Great to be able to park just outside then do everything on foot. We liked the nearby George & Dragon for drinks and the Lion hotel for lunch. Tony is an exceptional host, leaves you to it whilst being on hand to help with anything. Highly recommend staying here!

This is a small, modern, detached house with a conservatory and small garden. It takes 10-15 mins to walk into the centre of town where there is a railway station with trains to Derby and Matlock. Buses connect to Derby, Manchester, the Peak District and Nottingham. It is a quiet residential area but the town centre has pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and local businesses. The leisure centre is 10 mins walk. The town is World Heritage listed, being famous during the Industrial Revolution.
Small comfortable modern house with pleasant garden and conservatory for relaxing in. Single bedroom with additional bed stored under when not in use. Desk and chair for work - great views over Belper to distract you though! Tea and coffee making facilities, and access to kitchen for snacks. TV and DVD player in the living room and you are welcome to join us in the evenings.
Quiet residential area with occasional traffic. Great views over the outskirts of town, and everywhere in town is hilly! 5 mins by car or 10-15 mins walk to the town (using shortcuts!). Nearby pubs and leisure centre, parks and places to walk.
  • Jan and Fred were fantastic hosts!! Very welcoming, and happy to let you know about the local area, as well as have a chat. The accommodation was amazingly comfortable, and perfect for visiting Belper. Would highly recommend staying here.

  • I was made to feel very welcome and also asked if I wanted to join my hosts in the evening for a drink with them and their friends. The hosts provided a continental breakfast option and great conversation :). The room was clean and arty, with nice little touches, such as, books of poetry, travel and local information and even a small bag of sweets! It was a brief but lovely stay.

  • Great communications with host, very easy check in, cottage was as described, in a great location with great views and lots to see and do close by. Lovely cosy place with log fire, felt at home and it was clean and bright too. Great value. Would definitely recommend!

  • Everything was what we expected and communication with Barry was excellent, we even enjoyed at BBQ on New Year's Day 2019. Great location for walks and lovely shops to explore.

  • We had a great stay in Barry's cottage. He gave very clear instructions for arriving and accessing the cottage. It is very homely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a great base for walking in the Peak District and we enjoyed visiting the nearby pubs and restaurants, or sitting in the lovely garden in the evenings. Parking is busy, but we always found somewhere within a minute or two walk, so no problem at all. Would highly recommend.

  • We had a really great stay at Frith cottage. The location was perfect for us with family just down the road and the Peak District so close by. The house itself was great for our little family. My son lived his spacr in the attic. We have everything we needed. Couldn't have asked for more Belper is a lovely town with shops and pubs and restaurants on the doorstep. We had a night at the Ritz, which was lovely. Would love to stay again!

Situated in the beautiful Derbyshire town of Belper this is an historic house dating from the 1750s, set in a quiet lane by the river and a short flat walk into Belper town centre where there are many pubs, restaurants and amenities. There is easy access - by car, train and bus - to the Derwent Valley UNESCO World Heritage area and the Peak District, and the local cities of Derby and Nottingham, nearby towns/villages and there are many walks from the house door into the glorious countryside.
I live in a big house full of character but with modern facilities, big rooms and lots of light. The bedroom is within the main home and uses a shared entrance. The window looks out over the tiled patio and private garden. The bedroom has a double bed, tea & coffee making facilities, a wardrobe, shelving and bedside tables. If required, there is use of a desk and chair for working and using a laptop in the sitting room, for which there is plenty of space and light. The large contemporary bathroom is next to your bedroom - it includes a fabulous big shower and large separate bath. Breakfast includes tea, coffee, cereal, toast, preserves, milk, fruit, etc. I am pleased to cater for any dietary requirements. Guests can have breakfast in the sitting room (where there is also a television) or garden. The garden is in three parts with a tiled patio (a sun trap for the evenings after a day out or a day at work), a lawned area and a gravelled area leading to the water's edge. There is a summerhouse, trees, and the garden is full of plants and flowers. The house has free off street parking. This home is suitable for the B&B-er coming for a short stay but also for business people wanting short or long term accommodation as it has very easy links north to surrounding smaller towns, and south to Derby. For regular or long term stays I am open to discuss terms and prices - please message me.
Belper is a thriving, attractive and interesting ex-mill town. Throughout the year there are many festivals, and a monthly farmer's market. The industrial heritage of the town centres around the mills and workers houses of the Strutt family who developed the first iron-framed 'fire-proof' building in the world - the North Mill, which is one of the oldest surviving examples. The River Gardens are opposite my home on the other side of the river and full of plants and colour. This is a lovely place for a quiet, flat walk. There are also free concerts here every Sunday afternoon in the band-stand during summer. There are 68 places to eat and drink in Belper! This includes many pubs and bars which also serve food, many cafes which open from breakfast to late afternoon, many restaurants, delicatessens, a Co-op grocery store, and big stores of Aldi, Morrisons and B&M. There are many shops - from charity shops and well-known high street names, to a factory outlet in an old mill, an antiques centre in another mill, to individual boutiques selling clothes and speciality food. The Ritz cinema is a privately owned cinema showing current films in cosy seating, with mugs of tea/coffee, bottles of wine and cake on offer. There are also hairdressers, pharmacies, banks. I have lived in this area on and off all my life. I know the area well and would be delighted to advise on things to do in the local area and further afield into the Peak District and Derbyshire.
  • Just how you would expect an Airbnb / B&B to be: clean, comfortable, friendly and easy going host. The added bonus here is the location which was just out of town along a quiet lane by the river. Would certainly stay again when visiting.

  • Our stay at Jackie's beautiful home was perfect, she is a very attentive host and clearly genuinely cares about her guests, the house is gorgeous in a beautiful location. The spot at the bottom of the garden by the river is so picturesque and we spent most of the evening down there. Hugely reccomend staying here, Jackie will make you feel so at home!

  • Very much enjoyed our stay at Alison's place! Flat is wonderful and contained everything we could have needed. The host is very thoughtful and communicative making sure we were okay and checking if we needed anything. The location of the flat itself is great, there can be a little bit of noise at night as it is near the pubs but it's not too bad. Right near the city centre and near all local amenities. We highly recommend Alison! Thank you for everything during our stay :)

A quirky newly refurbished property set in the heart of Belper in Derbyshire, this is a great base for anyone wishing to stay on the edge of the peak district. "The Loft" is close to all local amenities such as shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. we are situated within a 5 minute walk to the local train station and are on the main route for public transport.
  • Front door leads to bedroom which leads to kitchenette, not kitchen, which leads to shower room and WC. Adequate space for 1 - 2 at most. Quarter of a window for whole space which opens to roof of another building, not sky. Very claustrophobic.

    Michelle2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Loft was a lovely and comfortable home for our short family break. The property is spotless, newly done and full of tasteful details, you can tell how much care Sarah has put into it. Sarah's attentive, very friendly and prompt communication from the first contact to our departure was great and made us feel really welcome! We turned up with our bikes and both her and her husband Kevin were very helpful with sorting somewhere for us to safely store them. Thanks, a great home, very nice host, very much recommended!!

  • We had the best stay at the loft. It's a beautiful place to stay, really comfy bed and immaculately clean. Sarah was really easy to talk to before and during the stay. Would love to go back, belper is a beautiful place

  • The Loft is a beautiful little space: perfect size for two people (and a dog) but would be very tight for four. Belper is a lovely little place, within easy reach of the Peaks. The Loft is gorgeously designed, very modern and cozy. Sarah is a wonderful host and responded quickly to our constant questions. Highly recommended and we will be back!

    Hannah2019-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Enter into an adorable and cosy stay at the Loft. Relax in front of a log fire whilst watching TV and drinking the complimentary wine! All equipment from radiators to kettles were clean ans top of the range! An ideal get away for a couple seeking a stay near the country side.

If you are debating staying here.. just book it!! you won't be disappointed. the pictures don't do the place justice, very modern & clean.. everything is as good as new. Sarah is lovely, very fast responses she just wants to help! we arrived to a lovely bottle of white wine.. fresh cheese from a local village farm! fresh milk, biscuits, crackers! basically a hamper!! we cannot fault anything at all. the apartment is also in a fab location, a pub across the road which i must say has a lovely sun terrace for an hour or 2.. along with other lovely pubs/restaurants all within a 5 minute walk. We will really miss this lovely apartment!! Melissa & Curtis, Thank you!

Mill cottage built in 1795 in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. Pubs, restaurants, country walks and the train station within walking distance. A perfect place to have a relaxing break. Feel like you've stepped back in time. No need for a car due to its easy accessibility. Great individual shops. Easy access to Chatsworth,Matlock, Bakewell,Gullivers World and Alton Towers.
This beautiful cottage has 3 floors and really is a home from home. There are traditional fireplaces and wooden beams so you really feel like you have stepped back in time. The lounge has a wood burner making it a cosy place to relax. There is a TV, DVD player, iPod player and a selection of DVD's and boardgames. There is a separate dining area and a fully equipped kitchen containing a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, toaster, toasted sandwich maker, bread maker and plenty of pans, cutlery and local Denby crockery. There are also flasks available to take on your country walks. Tea , coffee and biscuits are available and a carton of longlife milk so you can get the kettle on as soon as you arrive. The large bathroom on the first floor has a long bath with an overhead shower. There is an electric macerator toilet and therefore care must be taken to only put toilet paper in it otherwise it will break and there will be a charge to repair it. There is also a toilet downstairs in the out house area. The bedrooms are large situated on the first and second floors. Both have a double bed and there are 2 additional full size double Aerobeds available that can be put in each room on request and at an additional cost. There is also a travel cot available however bedding is not provided. Both bedrooms have a radio and one bedroom has a small TV. Information leaflets are available to plan your activities and make the most of all that there is to do in the local area. There are reading books as well as walking books and maps so you can fully explore the area. A washing machine is also available should need to wash any muddy clothes after a country ramble. There is full use of the garden and plenty of garden furniture so that alfresco dining can be enjoyed. WiFi is available.
Belper is a beautiful, friendly town with many independent shops such as an artisian bakery and a fabulous deli / cafe called Fresh Basil that I recommend for breakfast. There are a number of pubs within walking distance including the George and Dragon that has live music on a Friday and Saturday night. There are a great range of restaurants - Chinese, Thai, Italian, Indian, Tapas, carvery and numerous tea rooms. Belper also has the lovely independent Ritz cinema ( I recommend booking this in advance if you want to go - its worth it). There is local park with a childrens play area and row boat hire is available in the summer. The Peak district is on your doorstep, close to Chatsworth, Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Castleton where the famous Blue John Caves are making it a good base for walkers cyclists caving and rock climbing or if you are visiting Alton Towers. The Matlock Light Show in the Autumn is a short train journey from Belper. It may also be of interest if you have a business trip in Derby but don't want to stay in the city or working at Glowworm/Valliant or D S Smith that are close by.
  • Lovely area, lovely historical house.

This spacious cottage is a great place to hang out, explore historic Belper on foot and visit Derbyshire's many attractions.
The cottage overlooks the river gardens and is very close to the 18c water mill and river walks. Within 200 m there are two excellent restaurants (17 & 18c) and many more beyond. The cottage has 2 large living rooms (4m x 4m) one with a log burner adjacent to the kitchen and a lounge/dining room with the TV/DVD. There are two large double bedrooms tastefully furnished with 2 double beds and an additional single bed if required.
Just a short walk away is the river gardens and the 18c water mill, part of the Derwent valley world heritage region.
  • We had a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage. Great location close to amenities and all the area has to offer. Host communicated well and everything was as stated. Great family holiday. Recommend to anyone looking for a lovely peaceful place to stay. Thank you.

  • 5 of us stayed here as a base for a meet up of old friends. The location was perfect being able to walk to restaurants and pubs and also only half an hour for amazing walks in the peak District. The house has loads of useful items in the kitchen which was great. We were warm and cosy despite the weather!

  • If you are looking for the perfect English Cottage House, this is it. Everything was wonderful, house was incredibly clean and tidy, extra comfy beds and pillows for all. Close to town and local surroundings, This is a very sweet place and It was the perfect stay for us!

    Nancy2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were picked up from the station (a lovely gesture) as it gave us the opportunity to meet Roy, have a chat and show us round the cottage. The neighbourhood is quiet even though on a main road. The views both from the front and back of the cottage is a photographer's delight. Make sure to take a walk to the River and the cottages down the back lane (public footpath).

    Ella2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is well placed for Belper (a picturesque 10 minute walk, crossing the bridge by the river and the old mill). Belper is a great little place, which retains a "small market town" feel but has any number of eating places, quirky craft shops and pubs. It's very close to Derby, but it feels very rural. The cottage would be a great choice if you are travelling by public transport. Fast trains to Derby, then a ten minute train connection to Belper. There's a bus service which stops right outside the cottage if you don't want to walk with luggage. There's only a very small seating area in the front garden (the cottage is a back to back semi, so no back garden) but there's a lovely park by the river, a few minutes away, for picnics or just relaxing. There was a bit of motorbike noise, but that probably only happens in summer. It's a very cosy cottage so would be a good choice for an autumn or winter break.

  • An amazing AirBnb find...generous hosts, a lovely cottage and left feeling extremely relaxed....started thinking about booking again the minute we left

  • Lovely cosy cottage, a good size and plenty of room. Clean and tidy and only 5 mins into town. Arrived late so Roy gave us clear instructions on how to access the cottage. would liked to stay longer, would return next time we are in Belper!

    Lisa2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a lovely chilled out weekend in Roy's cosy cottage. It was well situated just a short walk out of Belper, with countryside on tour doorstep. The house was well supplied with everything you could need for a short weekend away or longer (milk, few bits and bobs in fridge, tea/coffee, oil, condiments, some alcoholic drinks). The bedrooms were comfortable. The bathroom was well supplied with necessities and had a lovely view of the nearby gardens! We noticed games and toys for children, and there was a stock of DVDs, so plenty to keep a family amused. The owners have also supplied an Amazon fire stick and a Netflix account which was a bonus. A log burning fire in one of the lounges topped it off. We would highly recommend this Rental. For the price, it is a choice find.

  • We are a young family of 4 from Australia and this is our second visit to this gorgeous cottage as we just ALL love it! We've been Airbnb-ing from Tokyo, to Derbyshire and all over England and Scotland - and this wee gem is by far our favourite! We have absolutely no hesitation recommending this cottage, and we will ALWAYS come back when visiting. Thank you again Michael, my only complaint is this last visit was just way too short and we didn't want to leave!

    Sadie2019-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous place!! Love this cottage and all the little details. The gift basket was a lovely touch - thank you! Fantastic host, even helped when we were in need of a taxi! Check in and out was a breeze. We loved your place Michael - thank you for everything!!

  • A great cosy place well placed for exploring the peak district

    Rod2018-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • This stone cottage was beautifully presented, warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend and go back again.. Fresh bread and mince pies were a lovely gesture.

    Lindsey2018-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely spacious cottage. We were a family of 5 adults and there was enough space for all of us. Rooms were all of a good size and the property is in a great location. Go one way and you have a lovely walk down to the town, go the other and you are then in glorious countryside. The garden area is lovely and I would imagine is a sun trap in the summer. Communications from Michael were excellent and their flexibility on arrangements was greatly appreciated. Can't fault this accommodation.

This charming, 2 bedroomed Grade II listed stone cottage was built around 1815 by the owner of the local mills to house his workers. Enjoying a quiet, elevated position with fabulous views overlooking the Derwent Valley, this characterful cottage with many original features is located within the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site and a local conservation area. Milford is an ideal base for walking and touring the Peak District and other local attractions.
A cosy cottage with stunning views and a home from home feel.
Milford was once a quiet hamlet in a part of the large deer forest that spread from Duffield to Wirksworth, until Jedediah Strutt set up a water powered cotton mill here and built housing for his workforce. Some of the housing still remains in Hopping Hill but much of the mill building was demolished between 1952 and 1964, including the cruciform warehouse of 1793, the second of Strutt's fire proof buildings with brick arch floors, timber beams and iron pillars. The bridge, with its two segmental arches was built around 1790 but widened in 1906 and is still carrying heavy traffic. The area is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The village is situated in the Derwent Valley between Duffield and Belper with the A6 running through its centre. There are a few local public houses within walking distance and an Italian restaurant in Milford plus a village store/coffee shop. Local information can also be found at www.milford-makeney.org/
  • What a charming and oh so sweet little cottage. A lovely warm and welcoming place to stay. It felt like a home from home. My partner proposed to me at this property , must have been all the love heart touches around the cottage haha! Oh, and I said yes :)

  • Samantha has decorated this beautiful traditional cottage with lots of welcoming touches. There is everything you could wish for in a holiday let including a lovely terraced garden equipped with deck chairs. The location of the cottage is stunning and there is so much more to explore in the locality from the Industrial Heritage of the mills and canals, to wonderful walks with fabulous vistas. For keen shoppers there are also designer outlets on the doorstep. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Milford historic village is a great destination choice! The Garden Apartment is a cosy retreat in a country cottage with private garden and scenic views across the valley. Perfect for visiting Derbyshire's Peak District National Park, our many National Trust and historic houses, and handy too for the city of Derby. Good pubs, restaurants and shops in the area. Longer stays are discounted... Please enquire for more information as we'd like to welcome you!
The Apartment is part of our 18th century cottage and enjoys panoramic views across the river valley and historic Milford village. Our stone-built cottage in Derbyshire's Peak District is Grade II listed and situated midway along the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site - the Valley that changed the World! [Its nomination by UNESCO was in recognition of the area's particular architecture and its distinctive landscape.]
The village is well provided with pubs and restaurants. The town of Belper [1 mile away] won the Nation's 'Best High Street' for its variety of shops and facilities. Country walks start from your door, with good public transport links for travelling further afield in the Peak District. Local buses run every 15 minutes and the Trans Peak service from Derby to Buxton is hourly. Ashbourne and Dovedale are a short drive and worth a trip to see the famous sights there. Chatsworth House - home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is a great place to visit along with many other National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby for great days out. Kedleston Hall, Hardwick Hall and Haddon Hall to name just a few! And Derbyshire has provided picturesque settings for many films recent years.
  • We loved our stay in this terrific, cosy cottage apartment. It was perfect for me and my wife and 2 year old son The garden and views are lovely and Rosemary welcomed us on arrival, showing us all the basics regarding the property.

  • Rosemary was a lovely host and we were made to feel very welcome. The Garden Apartment is very clean, comfortable and well equipped and has stunning views across the valley. It made a fantastic base for visiting friends and family, with the added bonus of the children's playground within walking distance proving a great hit with our 19mth old son.

  • We had brilliant time! Rosemary is a fantastic, very thoughtful host. The apartment is absolutely brilliant, comfortable, cosy, with an amazing view over the Derwent valley. There is everything one could potentially need. There are many things to see and do nearby, both locally and in the Peak District which is obviously quite close. The only disappointing thing was that our stay was over!

3 story cottage built in 1770. In a World heritage site to preserve the legacy of it's ties to the industrial revolution. Stunning scenery with views from the house and patio. Great local walks including the Chevin, an old Roman road, which can be seen from the house itself. A 20 minute drive to Cromford, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and 45 minute drive to Chatsworth a House and Gardens. The Peak District can easy be accessed from the house via the A6 which runs nearby. One of our local pubs, The Holly Bush, is a 16th century hostelry which serves a range of real ales from jugs. If you are a city person, Derby is a 20 minute bus ride away and Nottingham 45 minutes. There are 2 local train stations which can take you via Nottingham and Derby to anywhere in the UK. My home is ideally suited to anyone who would like to explore the Peak District, a beautiful National Park, with something for everyone. Whilst I am happy to host, I would also be happy to let out the whole house for a family. I am a social media junkie, so communication is not going to be a problem! I will be happy to give any advice or tips where needed but equally recognise that this is your break so I will keep a respectful distance. Should you wish to rent the whole house, I will be here to welcome you. I have travelled the world independently and have friends in many countries. I look forward to meeting you! Milford is a beautiful place to live with something for everyone. See guest access section for more information.

200 year old, three-storey mill-worker's cottage, an easy 5 minute walk from Belper town centre and the train station, with links to the Peak District, Derby and beyond one double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and a couple of inflatable mattresses which can be made up as a double in the attic room. Max group size 4 adults
A three-storey terraced cottage. This is my home, which is mostly available when the wanderlust takes me elsewhere. Just to be clear, this is my home, where I live. If staying in someone else's home makes you feel uncomfortable, then this isn't the place for you. There's a double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and floor space with inflatable mattresses available in another two rooms (normally made up as a double bed in the attic), with bedding and towels for everyone. (Although it's certainly not a big house by any means, and there's only the one bathroom.) Maximum group size is 4 adults (insurance restrictions). Downstairs is the living room, with sofa (sofa bed if needed) and the all important wood burner: in the winter there will be a basket full of wood, with firelighters and kindling. A step up takes you into the kitchen, with electric hob and fan oven, fridge and washing machine in the galley area towards the back door and a freezer under the stairs. The back garden (more of a yard really, as it's mosly paved) is up steps out of the back door, a real suntrap during the day in the summer. Feel free to use the herbs from the garden or to take chairs out there to sit in the sun. The 'bathroom' is off the kitchen: a bit of a misnomer, as there is no bath tub, but the shower is hot and has great pressure. Stairs take you up to the first floor, where there is a west-facing double bedroom and a small office, from where more stairs take you up to the attic room. The attic gets the morning light, as it faces east, and makes for a great place to sit with a book and a glass of wine in the evening. If needed, there are a couple of inflatable single mattresses, with plenty of floor space for them up here (can be made up as a double) or there's space for a single in the office (if you really need it). The office also makes a good place to put a travel cot, if you have tiny people but don't want them in the same bedroom as you... If you're travelling with kids, there's a great park just down the road, literally 50 metres away, which keeps nephews and nieces occupied for ages. What I don't have is any dining space: it's an eat off your lap house, I'm afraid. On-street parking.
Belper is a great little town, far enough out of Derby to have a life of its own, not too far from the Peak District National Park. Belper has a thriving town centre (Britain's Best High Street 2014, no less!), with a good deli (Fresh Basil) that also does a great cooked breakfast, small cinema (Ritz), a couple of supermarkets, excellent off-licence (Liquid Treasure), old fashioned sweet shop, plenty of the usual eateries (curry houses, chinese takeaways, a thai and bistro-type dining at 'Nourish at No. 44'), greengrocers, butchers, bakers (no candlestick maker that I know of, I'm afraid). There's a monthly farmers' market a 5 minute walk from the house on the 2nd Saturday of each month (go for the ostrich burgers and cinnamon donuts), an annual arts festival in May, food festival in July and visiting fun fair. The town is in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, with East Mill down on the river home to a nesting pair of Peregrines, who often fly over the house! And for those who need their fix of the big city, Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester are all an easy train ride away, and the Trans Peak bus service takes you to Manchester (although it takes its time...).
  • Philip's house is amazing! It's cosy, comfortable and it has everything you need. We spent 5 days there, the location is great too, an easy 10 minute walk to the centre of Belper. Communication with Philip was great, we never met him but he made sure we had everything we needed to settle in. I definitely recommend staying there!

    Maria2016-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Phillip made us feel very welcome, when we arrived there was milk in the fridge, bread in the kitchen, Chocolate for the kids and wine. what else could you ask for. He had set up the beds and there was plenty of bedding towels etc. The Cottage is gorgeous full of character and exactly as described. Thank you.

    Stuart2016-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Philip's house. It's charming with lots of personality, and was well equipped with everything we needed. Philip was an excellent host and made everything easy, and we found his recommendations and info about the house & local area very useful on arrival.

    Emma2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Really quirky, well laid out little place. The decor is fabulous! Kitchen is well stocked with all those last minute things one always forgets to pack and Belper itself is a beautiful village in a gorgeous part of the world and only a short hop from Derby.

    Andrew2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Phillip's home is cosy and comfortable, stocked with all the necessary amenities and a stone's throw from the town centre. He was quick to communicate, and made it easy to check in and out. Would happily return, if he'd have me again!

    Peter2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • A truly fantastic first airbnb experience. Philip went out of his way to give us a fantastic stay, despite booking just 24hrs in advance. Lovely cosy cottage with great facilities - would definitely stay here again!

    Luke2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely 4 days staying in Philip's house. Felt like a real home from home: everything I needed was there including a comfy bed and good shower. As described: it is a small house, but plenty big enough for a single/couple, or more if you are planning to be out and about a bit. I was delighted to find a lovely nature walk just a minute from the house. And the route cuts down to the market place so it is functional as well as enjoyable. I traveled by train and was able to access everything I needed once there without a car. Would definitely book again for my next visit to Belper.

A beautiful renovated chapel on the edge of the Peak District with a huge, light open plan living space upstairs and four good sized bedrooms including one en suite and a family bathroom downstairs (we call it an 'upside down' house!) Ideally set up for families and groups of friends, it is nestled within the pretty village of Milford within walking distance to local pubs and parks and a 5 minute drive from the shops and amenities of Belper.
A unique converted chapel with three bedrooms and a playroom / kids bedroom downstairs, huge open plan kitchen / living space upstairs, one en suite shower room, one family bathroom with bath and shower, small back garden and decking area and desk area in open plan space upstairs.
We’re nestled within a small, close-knit community close to Belper and on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. The nearest city is Derby.
  • Beautiful home, full of character. Great resources for kids.

    Ross2019-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a unique property- perfect retreat for families! Sally was great with superb communication! Would definitely visit again, especially with the children with great bedroom set up, toys and brilliant walks straight from the front door!

  • What a fantastic place in a fantastic part of the world. We were a real mixed family bunch with ages ranging from 8 months to 65 years old and each of us loved the space. A great space for a big group (we were 8), great amenities and close to great walks and a lovely pub. Sally was great with her communication and we'd thoroughly recommend a stay in their unique place in Derbyshire.

    Craig And Rosy2018-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a stunning house! A really stylish open-plan upstairs living space where everyone could be together. Plenty of games and toys for our little kids, they were thrilled. Very comfy beds, plenty of hot water, very clean and toasty warm. Good location - easy walk to swings, a pub and a small cafe/shop. Less than 10 minutes drive to Belper town centre where there are supermarkets, shops, a swimming pool, beautiful riverside walk and an excellent soft play. Later in the year I think the other local attractions will be open too, and there’ll be plenty to do. Lovely walking options around too. Parking and access were tricky because of road closures, but these will soon be finished and then I imagine on-street parking near by will be back to normal. Prompt and helpful communication from Sal. Overall a great time, thanks.

  • Beautiful place, couldn't want for more!

    Caroline2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay with lots of space and very well equipped for children to play and enjoy themselves. Surroundings are beautiful, the Heritage walk is lovely. Very close to the Peak District. Highly recommended.

    Cristina2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here. Sally answered every query we had very promptly. We all had a fabulous time. The bedrooms were comfortable with loads of toys and books for our children. In particular, they loved spending time lounging on the bean bags! The cottage itself is beautiful and we loved the open plan upstairs. The unusual nature of the house meant that we could hear some noise from upstairs when we were in the downstairs bedrooms but this wasn't really a problem and is to be expected in a wonderful conversion like this. Great location and everything was fabulous.

Magnolia Cottage is a Grade II listed 240 year old cottage located on the cobbled street of Long Row in the historical town of Belper. We have carefully renovated this beautiful stone home, trying to keep as much character and history as possible. We absolutely love our cottage, and look forward to sharing it with anyone interested in having a relaxing break in the countryside, Less than 10 minutes walk from Belper bus and train stations
There are 2 sets of stairs leading to the 2nd floor bedroom. The 2nd floor bedroom has a king sized bed and the 1st floor has a double sized bed. The living room is furnished to be comfortable and cozy. We have mixed a few local history pieces with more modern pieces to create a place that fills everyones needs. We also have a large selection of DVD's for you to enjoy. The smart TV is available for you to watch Netflix if you have an account. Very good wifi from every room. The bedrooms both have lovely views of the countryside and the 2nd floor bedroom overlooks the East Mill. This cottage is perfect for hikers and walkers. We are located at the gateway to the Peak District, and in less than 5 minutes you can pick up a footpath leading to Cromford and Matlock If you are planning to stay for a longer visit we can arrange for our local cleaner to visit for an extra charge.
Belper is a historic town, with small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. The Ritz is a lovely independent movie theatre, all are a 5-10 minute walk away. There are many hikes and walks nearby. What makes it so special here are the friendly neighbors and their sense of pride about the area. If you are looking for a place to have a party and make a lot of noise please look elsewhere! The beauty of this cottage is the quietness and peacefulness that surrounds it.
  • This cottage is located in a lovely, historic location convenient both for the centre of Belper and walks in the countryside right on the doorstep. The cottage itself is comfortably and appropriately decorated and a pleasure to stay in

  • Lovely house over 3 floors, spacious rooms, nicely decorated and cosy. Great town location and near to train station. Good amenities, clean and clear instructions. Parking nearby. Friendly neighbourhoods. Near to restaurants and pubs. Great recommendations especially the Elaichi restaurant (Bangladeshi fusion)... super tasty food!! For breakfast, we can recommend the book cafe opposite the Morrison supermarket..superb food and friendly staffs. Near visit/ walk/ trail we wanted to visit- Bakewell, Over Haddon Lartkill dales trail, Monsal Trail..and of course Belper. Beautiful area..

    Yeuan2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi's cottage is in a great location, just a short walk to the town centre and the river gardens. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has a lovely garden. There is a train line just a few doors away that does spoil the peace and quiet for a few seconds throughout the day. It would have been slightly better if there was comfortable seating for 4 adults in the lounge. The rocking chair is not a great place to relax! We had a lovely stay and would definitely return if we were to visit the area again.

    Shelley2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

High quality Bed & Breakfast accommodation in a 1828 period, stone-built, Grade II Listed, Nailmaster's Residence set in half-acre secluded formal gardens in Belper's historic Conservation Area. The three bedrooms, 2 x D, 1 Twin (all en-suite)
About the Cedars... In the late 18th century, Belper was the nailmaking centre of Britain, with over 500 nailers working around the town. The ‘Nailmaster’ of Belper, Abram Harrison, built himself a grand house on a small farm between Jedediah Strutt’s mill village and the town of Belper, and this house, originally called ‘Field House’, is now known as The Cedars. The parkland, walled gardens, and cedar trees once surrounding the house were long ago reduced to the present half an acre of mature formal gardens and terracing - a peaceful retreat of trees and lawns in the historic heart of Belper. The Cedars has a colourful history: A Silversmith lived here at the turn of the century; a judge owned the house before the First World war; it was strafed by enemy planes in WWII; the house became Belper Clinic after the war, and after a period in the 1980s as the HQ of a local building firm, The Cedars became the Headquarters of Deb Chemicals PLC. In 1996, Neil and Ann Wayne took on the task of turning this last of the great town-houses of Belper back into a family home. There were no bathrooms, no kitchen, all fireplaces were long gone, the cellars lay unopened since 1921, and much of the original Regency character and detailing had been lost from the interiors.
Belper’s famed River Gardens, Visitor Centre and Heritage Centre are a short stroll and the fine scenery and attractions of the “White Peak” and Peak National Park are but a short drive; why not visit Ashbourne, Chatsworth House, Kedleston Hall, The Tramway Museum, Alton Towers, the spa town of Buxton or the caves of Castleton during your stay?
  • Couldn't have felt more welcome, and loved staying in a home with so much character and history. Modern amenities certainly aren't lacking though...En-Suite, Sky, WiFi etc all in a very spacious room, at very fair prices. My only regret about staying at The Cedars is that I was in too much of a rush during my stay to enjoy one of Neil's amazing-smelling breakfasts! I'd definitely stay again, hopefully with more time to enjoy the excellent hospitality next time!

  • Great location near restaurants and lovely garden. charming house and overall a great stay with fresh breakfast in the morning. Neil kindly let us park for additional time as well

  • Conveniently situated and with lots of character, Neil's house makes a good base in Belper. The bedroom was lovely and warm , which was most welcome on such a cold day. Neil was helpful and friendly, and prepared me a full breakfast, which was a good way to start the day. Definitely one for future trips.

  • Neil was very welcoming. He really went out of his way to make sure we had a good breakfast. Thank you very much Neil for your hospitality.

  • The house is lovely

    Rhona2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Neil was exceptionally welcoming and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Airbnb had booked the site as "entire place", when it's actually a B&B, but it turned out to be a fortuitous error, and we enjoyed the stay more than we would have in a self-catered place. We found out that Neil has been a musician most of his life and has an extensive collection of concertinas. If you ask, he will tell you a lot about concertinas and play for you, but you would never know about this if you didn't ask. The bedrooms are large, quiet, and comfortable. An added bonus to the traditional B&B breakfast fare was pain au chocolat! The B&B is about a block away from the main street with several shops and restaurants, in a quiet neighborhood.

  • This is a cheap and cheerful place, really well located in Belper, the suspended ceilings and grouting in the showers could use some updating. We had a big family holiday and loved the central common area. The kitchen is really well equipped, there's not much outdoor space, but enough for a b and Neil and Ann are very responsive and helpful hosts.

  • The garden is beautiful and the main common room light and spacious. The venue recently added having towels available as a service and they were a nice size and felt nice to use. It took us a while to figure out how to use the heating system, but once we did, plenty of hot water was available. One thing that could make this venue even better is if they were able to upgrade from a coin system for paying for light and heat. I felt anxious the whole time about running out and was constantly watching the machine! Overall, a good visit with ample time to cook, eat, do yoga and meditate.

  • We had a fun stay overall. Perfect for exploring the peaks and the lovely countryside of Derbyshire. House is the very lovely market town of Belper. Belper has everything you could possibly need. The house is hidden by a road of shops, pubs and takeaways - well hidden away but incredibly central Layout is quirky to say the least but it’s actually perfect for large groups who want a huge communal area yet private space too. Plenty of space to sit and relax as well as private sleeping areas. If you are traveling with young children- be aware there are stairs everywhere. It’s hard to block them all off. Good facilities- but be aware you need many many £1 coins for the electricity meter and the car park. The house was clean and tidy. The decor is tired (but accurately described) but everything was comfortable and in working condition We would happily stay here again.

  • A very spacious property which is good for a big group. Large lounge upstairs with plenty of sofas and comfortable chairs. Front garden with table and chairs and a bbq. Good location in Belper near to the local shops and restaurants, and a nearby lake where you can hire boats. However the owners did ask for my address which was bizarre (and against air bnb policy and air bnb advise against giving this) and the letting agency that act on behalf of the owner replied when I asked why: ‘All guests at all the properties are asked for their address whether AirB&B or from whatever source. As owners who are renting out their properties to strangers I do not think that having an address is out of order’ Also to note the information pack says 5 cars could be parked but this was not possible as would entail blocking the neighbour’s car.

  • Perfect for an affordable gathering of friends but the house could do with some updating and extra amenities.

  • I recently had a very comfortable stay at Robert's house. Despite booking at short notice he was incredibly accommodating. The bedroom, kitchen facility and bathroom are all great. There's also quite a stunning view from the front door of the house (impressive even on an otherwise cloudy day!) A great host and a highly recommended place to stay for anyone coming to the area.

    Harjeet2015-08-25T00:00:00Z

  • Accurate description, certainly a cosy cottage with wood burner on the go and tea on tap. Rob was a great host offering information about the local area and an excellent real ale pub nearby. We stayed on a Saturday night and the area was quiet and we had a good nights sleep.
