The Tye River Retreat is the perfect get away for relaxing and enjoying nature. The property has direct access to the Tye River where guests can enjoy fishing, swimming and kayaking. This spot is just minutes away from amazing vineyards, breweries, distilleries and local orchards. INFINITY DOWNS FARM (home of LOCK'N and Festy Music Festivals), is right up the road! Close access to the AT and the Blue Ridge parkway for amazing hikes and beautiful views of VA. Come enjoy a stay here!
Located in Central Virginia at the foothills of the blue ridge mountains, and overlooking the ever flowing and beautiful Tye River, this space is the perfect location for nature lovers and anyone who needs a break from the grind of daily life. For experienced "river rats" I will allow use of two kayaks and a canoe with gear for a fun adventure. There is a perfect drop in spot and boaters can enjoy a 2 mile, 5 mile or even 10 mile trip down the Tye. Even though the description says "one room" guests have access to the entire basement, which is an unfitted space. Enjoy a scenic view and peaceful sounds of the river from your own private deck.
Arrington is located in Nelson County and the closest towns are Amherst directly South and Lovingston directly North. Both very small, quaint towns with a few restaurants and a Food Lion in each location. (Roughly 6 miles to either one) Very close to the 151 Brewery tours (Devils back bone, Blue Mountain Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery to name a few) Located 40 minutes from historical Appomattox which contains an exceptional Civil War museum. 45 minutes from Winter Green Ski Resort.
  • The space is lovely, clean and provides all you need and much more. The only thing I have pointed out to Cameron is that she should probably keep her lovely doggo away from the guests' bedroom, as the basement is not very soundproof. I was awaken by a loud thud at 6.45am, which was presumably the dog jumping off the bed, then frantically running around. As much as I love dogs, I'm not a morning person ;) Easy fix. Other than than, absolutely lovely space.

    Erica2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cameron's place was perfect for a quick getaway, and a great location on the Tye river. I would definitely stay again, a great place if you are looking for river access.

  • Amazing riverfront location. Hammock. Huge balconys. Beautiful architecture. Very peaceful. A great retreat.

  • Excellent little place! Cameron was a superb host and provided everything needed for a great stay and more. The unit was way better than expected. We will definitely be back!

  • Good Communication, space heater inadequate on cold night

    Matt2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • There's everything you need; Keurig with coffee K-cups of all sorts and half and half provided in small frig that has butter, ketchup, mustard, etc. tea too and coffee maker along with toaster oven. No kitchen and only sink in bathroom. Wi Fi and very nice bathroom and bedroom. Porch overlooks the Tye river and there's a hammock and few chairs out there. Another lower level closer to the river has tables and chairs and fire ring. Really nice location and host and also the dog is very friendly.

    Dianne2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cam was a wonderful host and such a sweetheart! She was so quick to answer any questions and provide anything I needed/asked for. She was very communicative and checked in to make sure things were going alright a couple different times. She allowed us the use of her grill as long as a couple other skillets so we could cook our own meals. It is a cozy space on beautiful property with tons of stuff to do close by! I would definitely stay here again :)

    Anna2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cameron is fabulous; we really enjoyed the time we spent at her house. The location is beautiful; and the space is large, comfortable and private. She even helped us arrange rides to the LOCKN festival, which was so helpful. We strongly recommend staying at Cameron's river retreat. What a treat to be able to wake up and go swimming in the river! Thank you again :)

  • Jack's place is a great value for what you pay. Great amenities, spacious, very clean, located in a nice neighborhood, and quick response time from host. I would recommend this to anyone especially for a small family. Jack was gracious and very accomodating.

    Kate2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Jack was very easy to communicate with. The beds were comfortable and the house was really clean and had everything we needed. We would rank it one very best Airbnb’s we’ve stayed at.

    Susan2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Was a great choice for a halfway point between DC and Greenville SC. Very clean and as described. Jack was incredibly hospitable. Would certainly stay again.

  • Very clean and cozy. Everything you need provided. Shampoo and conditioner, plenty of towels, cozy sheets and beds, Hulu, condiments, and great pillows! I love the sunroom for morning coffee or tea. We only stayed one night, but we would have been plenty comfortable staying much longer.

Quiet country road. 1 mile off Hwy 29.
  • Beautiful wooded area, lots of privacy and cool stuff for our dog to sniff. Loved the porch. Bring headlamps!

    Sonya2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • A very enjoyable, quiet spot to get away from it all with plenty of privacy, room, and shelter from the weather.

    Randy2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie’s hideaway is a great spot to disconnect from the world. My only major complaint was there was 2 huge spiders in the bedroom and the air bed was well deflated with only a hand pump to fill it again. But other than that it was a great place with a beautiful view of scenery.

    Elizabeth2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a small place nestled on a hillside in the woods. It is two stories, with the top one being a bit restricted by the angled roof. The air mattress was very comfortable with a sheet and sleeping bags we brought. The bottom floor has a table, a few chairs, some maps and guides for the area, as well as water bottles provided for everyone. The balcony off the door wraps around the cabin and has a really nice view into the valley of the forest. The owner met us outside at the parking location (we even arrived late after the check-in time) and walked us down to the cabin. During our stay, we went to some awesome antique shops in the area, some hiking (the nearby waterfall is pretty cool), and just generally relaxed and had a great time.

    Daniel2019-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway, Stephanie’s place is great!

    Ryan2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie's cabin is such a cute space on a beautiful piece of property. I really appreciated her quick communication and clear instructions for getting there easily. I also appreciated the thoughtful amenities that were provided such as a flashlight, water, playing cards, and breakfast menus for local restaurants. I will definitely book again when I have more time to explore and hike!

  • Denny is new to AirBnB hosting but the qualities of the stay were unacceptable. there was dog hair all over the place, common area, bathroom, and bedroom pillows. I had to change the pillow before laying down. the address was written down wrong and the host wasn't even home. I hope she can fix this stuff for the future.

    Michael2019-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place. VERY clean and well stocked with thoughtful items. Secluded and quiet.

    Tom2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

    Regina2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Denny is a gem...very welcoming, thoughtful and informative. We were grateful to have found her and spend time in her lovely slice of heaven. We had privacy, built a fire, cooked dinner under the stars and had a wonderful time surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and sweet farm animals.

    Erin2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, spacious, clean accommodations. The friendly cattle dogs greeted us and escorted us to the entrance. This is a rural location and it’s beautiful. While enjoying the serenity of the view and morning coffee on the patio with the dogs a hummingbird flew up to me! I would stay here again.

  • We HIGHLY recommend this outstanding, beautiful place to stay! The room is drop dead gorgeous and you feel like you’ve walked into a magazine when you get there. The views are truly lovely and the water front is so serene. The home is full of history dating back to 1869! When we arrived, Tiffany had cheese, crackers, and sangria ready for us. Then each morning we had breakfast waiting for us on the porch. It was so romantic and full of extra mile touches. Plus the value is great for the popular area. The river out back was crystal clear and perfect for the hot days! Can’t recommend it enough - a must stay for sure!

  • The Roseland Manor was the perfect spot for a relaxing, weekend getaway. Tiffany recommended several local spots that made the trip even better. A lot of thought and love went into creating this space and the personal touches were so nice! This is also a perfect spot if you have a dog. Our pup enjoyed the fenced porch, provided bed and river. We can't wait to return!

    Erica2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying here. The house has amazing views. Place for nature lovers!

    Marufjon2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Better than advertised. We enjoyed a picnic and relaxing evening by the Piney river, a short, but picturesque walk from the house. The room was decorated well and had surprising touches that made our stay stress free and enjoyable.

    Josh2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Tiffany put in so many extra, personal touches that we felt like we were in a home away from home. Highly recommended for a relaxing trip into the outdoors. Our pup loved watching the little pig and chickens in their coup on our way down to the creek and enjoyed even more running in the water. So many great hiking trails around!

    Megan2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable rustic place to stay! We were staying in the space to go to a wedding about 20 minutes away and Tiffany and her husband shuttled us there and back for an extra fee so that we could safely enjoy the festivities :) We had a great time, loved the view and the space, and greatly appreciated Tiffany and her husband's hospitality. We would absolutely recommend this rental and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Lisa2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay at! Everything is like it is in the picture and the view from the deck / bedroom windows and walk to the river are very peaceful. House and area was very quiet. Can’t beat it for location and price. We were within 30minutes of Crabtree falls, devils backbone, Lynchburg, and wineries.

The Cottage at Pines End is a cozy getaway to a quiet place in the country, carefully designed and constructed by its owners. We pay attention to details, such as a custom stone chimney, handmade drawer pulls, and a large wraparound deck space. The 6 acre property includes a field, woods, and a creek to explore. Nelson county has many nearby attractions, such as the Tye and Piney rivers for boating or fishing, world-class hiking, breweries and wineries, and music festivals.

The cottage has a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace indoors, comfy couches, beanbags in the loft area, beautiful deck and outdoor fireplace. Christopher2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience here. A beautiful home in a perfect location to explore the region. The hosts were friendly, welcoming, responsive, and helpful. The rental was spotlessly clean, abundantly well stocked and furnished, and the beds were super comfortable. We saw cardinals, blue jays, hummingbirds, and fireflies from the front porch. The fairy lights that illuminated the porch at night gave the place an enchanted vibe. We instantly felt at home and are already planning our return. This place is a winner!

    Catherine2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Farmer's Joy provided the perfect place for our family to stay while in the area. The home was clean, comfortable and inviting. Everything we needed was there. Bill was very responsive to questions before our stay and easily reached during our stay. Appreciated that Bill met us upon arrival and gave us a tour and brief history of the house, built in 1929. We would absolutely return to Farmer's Joy and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

    Michele2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Farmer's Joy was the perfect location for a getaway. The charming farmhouse was perfectly located and we had easy access to local wineries, cideries, orchards and much more. The farmhouse had rich history and was nestled among the trees and nature. The noise of the road was very mild and we barely noticed it as we were too busy adventuring during the day and staying up talking in the cozy sitting room at night. The house had 3 bedrooms and a TV in each bedroom. We loved the idea of being able to retreat to our own rooms at night, but we never turned the televisions on. The WiFi in the home was perfect and allowed everyone to access what they needed or stream their very movies on their electronic devices. The kitchen is fully stocked if you would like to cook meals and there is a Food Lion grocery store just down the road. Our hosts were very attentive to our stay and answered any questions we had - which were few since they planned ahead for us so well. We will definitely be back!

  • A very clean and beautiful, peaceful place. You will hear traffic from the road beside the house but it isn't bad. The ac was wonderful. It is near everything but dining was hard to come by. When we found a place, it wasn't fast service....(Ann's restaurant)...we were there quite a long time. The house is a bit from Charlottesville but we liked it. Deer on the hill in front of the house was a sight to see.

  • What a wonderful way to spend our anniversary. The house was clean and very well kept with an interesting history! It has all the necessities you can think of and more! A great bonus was the powerful A/C especially for VA summer heat. The location was perfect for us, as we enjoyed the plentiful hiking trails and tons of breweries, wineries and distilleries. The hosts were very welcoming, responsive and helpful in every way. We couldn't ask for anything more.

  • This is a lovely house that’s been in the same family for 4 generations. Well taken care of, comfortable, GREAT A/C (which can matter on some days in Virginia), and porch swing. I recommend it highly.

  • This property is beautiful! It's charm lies in the combination of proud country manor and relaxing chill spot. It is grand and comfortable. It is situated minutes from both Crabtree Falls and Lexington, VA, but remains secluded. Memorial day weekend was the recharge my wife and I needed...thanks, in part, to this amazingly comfortable property! The owner Leke was prompt and extremely helpful. The communication was stellar and our getaway went off without a hitch.

  • This property is beautiful. Was in town for a graduation at liberty and was about a 20 min ride to the ceremony. When not engaged in events on campus we spent time relaxing in this plentiful of space home. My daughter and I was able to do some star gazing when night fell even it was great. The host was very responsive to our needs and check in couldn't have been more simple.

Nestled in the Arrington country side, just one mile off 29, this cosy house has lots of space to stretch-out and relax. The large back deck has great views of the country side, while the gas fire place is just a click away from a beautiful fireside evening. Come relax, and enjoy.
The master bedroom has a beautiful jacuzzi perfect for a romantic getaway. The three bedrooms provide plenty of space for large groups. The house has two eating areas, a small breakfast table as well as a formal dining table. There is a beautiful rock fireplace with gas logs. The deck has a glass top table with seating for six.
  • The house was much bigger than expected! Great for a quiet getaway.

    Rachel2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay. The house was very clean and the layout was great for our family of 4, including 2 preschoolers. There was a Toy Exchange basket that the kids really enjoyed, and even a pack-and-play crib waiting for our 2-year-old. Michelle was extremely responsive & easy to communicate with. The fireplace was on the fritz, but I’m not taking off any stars because they were eager to send someone to fix it right away, but we decided to go to sleep early so we didn’t miss it. Star-gazing from the back deck was amazing, we saw quite a few shooting stars! So happy to have this as a budget option...the very reasonable price ensures that we’ll make this our #1 pick in the future and return for sure!

    Liz2018-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s place is a clean spacious home on a beautiful pasture of rolling hills. My children were excited to see the cows from the back porch. We had a very peaceful stay.

  • This is a gorgeous home and the host is very accommodating. We had enough room for my party, ample towels and more. The home is peaceful and lovely. So well worth it as we travelled to the area for my graduation and felt very much at home. Exceptional experience for my family and I.

    Ethel2019-05-18T00:00:00Z

Private campsite (tent is not provided for you; you must bring your own camping gear, including a rain guard) in a beautiful county with a country setting. Shared bathroom & other outdoor living space. This is one of three campsite listings I have for my property. If one is booked and you are interested in staying, please check out the other two listings here - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19176500 & https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19717058.
With camping outside, you get to see one of the prettiest views I've ever seen - the majestic mountain ridges during the day and the clear sky full of stars at night. My hope is that you have access to whatever it is you may need to make your visit as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
The neighborhood may seem boring or sparse to city folks, but Nelson & Amherst County have so much to offer to those adventurous types. My house is located only minutes from the George Washington National Forest and there are many places for walking, running, biking, fishing, swimming, and hiking (the Appalachian Trail runs through the county, too) in the area. Depending on which location you get off the Blue Ridge Parkway, we're about 30 minutes from there. There are also breweries, cideries, wineries, and distilleries not too far away on route 151, or the Brew Ridge Trail as us locals call it. Wintergreen Resort is also close by for those who love to ski and/or snowboard. If live music from local artists is your thing, there's plenty of that to go around, too, in the smallest of coffee shops to bigger venues. This area is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and I'd suggest everyone visit at least once in their lives. The people are kind and the mountains, even kinder.
  • Morgan is a wonderful host! She was incredibly friendly, accommodating and helpful when we were looking for things to do in the area. Her yard is a beautiful spot to pitch a tent, have a fire, and relax. I'd definitely recommend booking with her!

    Alexa2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Small house with a grand view. Great for camping outside the park.

    Jeremy2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan is fantastic and the view of the mountains from her yard is beautiful.

    Christine2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan’s backyard couldn’t be a more perfect campsite. The apple tree was a huge bonus, providing us snacks and breakfast!

    Andy2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan is an amazing host. She is prompt in responses and very accommodating. The land has a gorgeous view that can make anyone fall in love with the mountains. The house is very tidy. As for Lincoln (cat) and Jackson (dog), they are the sweetest pets this side of the Appalachians. Definitely recommend for anyone and everyone!

    Jerri2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • It was really fun camping in Morgan's yard! Fire pit, access to bathroom, beautiful views.

    Amanda2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan has excellent communication and is pleasant to interact with. She has a beautiful home!

    Kristina2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan's place is the perfect spot for beginning or ending a backpacking trip in this part of VA! Checking in was a piece of cake, and the fire pit means that you can make s'mores, which everyone knows are the best part of camping. :) The bathroom was clean and SO nice to have before heading into the woods, and the view of the mountains from the backyard is gorgeous. Morgan was responsive and helped us out with everything we needed while staying. Highly recommended!

Built in 1806 as a country home and renovated in 2019, Fleetwood is great balance of old-world charm and modern convenience located right in the middle of Nelson County's music, craft beer, and adventure destinations. Fleetwood sits on top of a private bluff of solid rock overlooking the Tye River, with beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When you visit, we hope you will share the feeling that people have enjoyed this special spot for thousands of years. Welcome!
You will be staying in a neat, old house on top of private hill in the country. The Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission notes that it "has seen few one-story buildings having its architectural refinements...the joinery of the interior woodwork is especially fine." While the house has been updated to include all the modern conveniences (central heat/air conditioning, high-speed Internet, etc.), keep in mind that this is a country house and has quirks consistent with its age. While the house is very clean and well-maintained, not all the windows open because they're over 200 years old. And despite our best efforts, there might be ladybugs, stink bugs, etc. trying to take back their native habitat. You will hear coyotes nearby at night. There could be the occasional bear poking around. But we believe those idiosyncrasies add to the experience, not detract from it. The property is located a mile off the "151 Brew Ridge Trail " and 25 minutes from Wintergreen ski resort. There are a ton of breweries, distilleries, cideries, wineries, and meaderies within a short drive (between 5 and 30 minutes). The Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, and George Washington National Forest are 15 minutes away. The house is located on one of the most scenic stretches of the Tye River, which itself is regarded as one of the most scenic rivers in Virginia.
Bored? Walk to the river and go for a swim. Catch crawfish in the creek. Start a bonfire. Grill out on the back deck. Cozy up with a book next to the fireplace. The Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway are a beautiful 25 minutes away. There are excellent breweries, wineries, cideries, distilleries, restaurants, and music venues less than 15 minutes away. Nelson county a music and outdoor mecca. Home to Lockn and Hoopla festivals, as well many mountain biking and cycling events. You are surrounded by fantastic biking, hiking, boating, fishing, and skiing opportunities. The Wintergreen resort (30 minutes to the slopes) offers skiing, boarding and tubing in the winter. And awesome mountain bike trailes the rest of the year.
  • Kristen’s place was outstanding. Tucked in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, this historic home offered comfort, convenience, and charm. Kristen was helpful and available for any questions that came up and the space was put together thoughtfully and with care. Location was perfect for exploring wilderness (Crabtree falls and the Appalachian Trail were only a 10 minute drive). Also very close to wintergreen resort and all of the beautiful wineries and breweries the area has to offer. Perfect weekend getaway! Can’t wait to come back!

    Naomi2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen's places was great. We loved the location and the house was very spacious. She even came out before we got there to leave some firewood and coffee. Definelty hope to return soon.

  • We loved staying in this historic 1806 home. Great location, near both routes 151 and 29). The setting is beautiful with a Mountain View in the back. Perfect for relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine.

  • What a great place! Loved that it was so easy to connect with nature at this beautiful and charming historic home. Kristen and Brady were wonderful and cheery hosts. The house feels spacious and cozy at the same time. I especially liked cooking breakfast in their gorgeous kitchen and then eating on the deck while gazing at the morning mountains.

  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful and well worth the trip. The pictures tell it all. If we were to ever come back to Virginia, we would definitely want to visit it again. The cottage was not just a place to sleep but a special part of the trip too. My mother enjoyed having the peacocks around and my father said that the cat at the farm was the friendliest cat that he has ever met.

  • Excellent place to stay with kids. We were 4 adults and 2 toddlers and a teenager. It was cold and rainy so we spent a lot of time inside, but no one felt cramped or stuffy. Great views from the porch and kitchen. We were wishing we had been there in warm weather to take advantage of the screened in porch dining area. With toddlers, you can't beat having peacocks and a friendly horse on-site. Kitchen was really well-equipped for stay-in meals. Place was clean, comfortable, felt like a personalized nice cabin and not overrun with cluttery decorations and breakables like some "get-away" places. and, you can't beat a hot tub by a horse stable. great internet service and very tasty tap water. Only down side was that we would love to have stayed longer!

  • The hosts and rooms are lovely! If you aren't driving an SUV, you may need to be watchful on the grassy/bumpy road driving in (especially if rainy). Double check if hosts have clean, running water throughout the house. (Hopefully their water accident was remedied easily.)

  • Geri and Kurt were wonderful hosts! Their place is beautiful and full of character. We arrived fairly late but Geri was there to welcome us and give us the tour. She was so quick to respond to messages and it seems like she genuinely would do anything she could to make our experience the best one. Plenty of space for a large group to spread out. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The views are outstanding, even though it was foggy and rainy when were there. The bride (bachelorette party) even got to spend some time loving on one of their horses. We will be back for sure! Thank you Geri and Kurt!!

  • This is the best Airbnb experience I have ever had. The house is detailed decorated and stylish. Furnitures are stylish. The view from the house is stunning. You can see beautiful horses in the farm At night. We can see a lot of stars in the sky. And the fireflies are everywhere in the woods. Shinning like Christmas trees. I took a picture of the Milky Way and the fireflies at the same time. They are really helpful and took us a tour to show the house. There will be horse riding and trails in the wood in the future. Amazing house and stunning view. Best experience ever Highly recommended.^_^

  • Wow, there are no words to express my stay at this property. The most amazing views you will witness are here. Not just a view but the vista is almost 360. The property and hospitality were higher than any four star hotel or Bed and Breakfast has ever provided. Every major and minor detail in my stay was provided. The high end decor rivaled any hotel you will ever stay in. The owners were so kind, thoughtful and hospitable. Your stay here will be remembered for years and you will come back. I not only plan on staying here every year with my family but will recommend this property to all my friends and relatives!! Thank you so very much.

The house is gorgeous and the comfortable bedrooms and well equipped kitchen and dining room make for such a fun and relaxed stay! We especially loved getting to use the hot tub and an evening bonfire outside. And the views are outstanding. • Everything about Fairview Estate B&B was as stated on the site. A VERY nice old home, in an idyllic rural setting. Jennifer was not on site for our weekend, so she gave us use of her amazing kitchen facilities. The hot tub was a nice feature for us, and the peacocks added to the ambience. Overall, I recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

  • i enticed four friends who had not seen each other since our graduation to meet at Fairview for our 45th Sweet Briar reunion. I wanted a place where we could sit, talk and reconnect. Fairview was perfect from the moment we slowly approached the house on the long gravel driveway until we waved the peacocks good bye. We each had the luxury of our own bedrooms in which to get some private time. Hours were spent rocking on the porch watching the shadows move across the mountains and cows grazing. We enjoyed cooking together in the kitchen and conversations in the gracious dining table. We moved from porch to porch following the shade and ended our days with long comfortable talks in the living room. Fairview was the perfect magical place for our time together.

Private campsite (tent is not provided for you; you must bring your own camping gear, including a rain guard) in a beautiful county with a country setting. Shared bathroom & other outdoor living space. This is one of three campsite listings I have for my property. If one is booked and you are interested in staying, please check out the other listings here - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/13094086 & https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/19717058.
  • Beautiful scenery! You can hear the river running and the cows mooing.
