Cozy apartment in Maplewood CENTRALLY LOCATED-close to downtown and everywhere you might want to go in St. Louis. Double bed, single bed, short futon, two comfy chairs, desk, microwave, fridge, hotplate, coffee maker, sink, bathroom, use of washer, dryer - detergent and softener provided. Entire house has central heat and air (vent opens into the basement), as well as wall heaters and fans. As this is a basement space (partially below ground level), the temperature stays quite comfortable.
This is a small space in a very safe, centrally located neighborhood in St. Louis - a few miles from Washington University, close to downtown, St. Louis University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Forest Park, St. Louis Zoo, the Art Museum and so much more! There are two cats and one dog living with me so, if you have allergies, this may be an issue :) There may be doggy noise from above...we rise early.
I love living in Maplewood because it is so centrally located - 10 or 15 minutes from almost everything. This is a quiet, family area, with friendly neighbors. There is a lovely coffee shop a block away - Stone Spiral and a main street 3 blocks away. Lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and "Strange Donuts!"
  • Mila was very friendly and hospitable! The apartment is in a great location and was exactly what we needed for an affordable weekend get away.

  • Great location, wonderful host!

    Rhiannon2019-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lamira was easy to stay in touch with, so my entire trip (from planning onward) went very smoothly. The basement apartment is exactly as described, and the location is wonderful--very nice, safe, quiet neighborhood close to everything. I spent most of my time at Forest Park, a very short drive away. Lamira was available for questions and suggestions, but did not "hover." I had everything I needed to make my stay comfortable, easy, and enjoyable. Thanks!

    Laura2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lamira was very welcoming and directed us toward Stone Spiral coffee shop and Strange Donuts--both of which were in walking distance and were great. The neighborhood in general is very walkable and interesting. The apartment was tidy though not sparkling clean. It was overall as pictured although some dinginess has crept in: e.g., stained rug, dresser with a drawer missing. You also have to walk through an unfinished part of the basement to get to the finished part. Finally, the dog woke us up barking early both mornings. Overall I would say that this would be the perfect place to stay if you needed a place to crash overnight, but for a family on vacation, we will look for something we can relax into more.

    Meagan2017-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • It was really great staying here! We spent three nights here and I was a little concerned about Brentwood being a drive from St. Louis, but it turned out to perfect. We enjoyed not being in the heart of St. Louis and the drives to our destination weren't bad at all since it was mainly highway time and not really city driving. The place was clean and quiet. The host would check in with us via text and were very courteous if they had company over and worried about being too loud. We really enjoyed our stay here!

    Megan2017-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place very clean close to everything, mall, movies, stores, and restaurants. We would stay here again. Fast and easy communication.

    Patricia2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Isaac was a great host. The place was very clean and they thought of everything, including extra towels and blankets. We came to explore downtown Saint Louis and the location was perfect for that. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

  • We've stayed here a few times and plan to in the future! Isaac & Anita's place is great.

    Elizabeth2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Isaac and Anita are great, flexible hosts! The place is just as describe and has nice privacy. Very comfortable space. We have booked it for 4 nights in April. Most of the time is booked up! Grab it when it's available.

Great location, well furnished, balcony, next to a famous deli, a Starbucks, four great restaurants, with many others nearby. Close to Washington University, Forest Park, Chase Park Plaza movie theater, the famous Delmar Loop & trolley, the Central West End district, Barnes Hospital, etc. Also only twenty minutes from the airport. Complimentary wine and regional snacks provided. Keurig machine and variety of pods provided. Two bicycles provided.
Well-furnished, fully appointed, friendly welcoming space. Second floor condo just near the business district, along scenic Wydown boulevard leading to Forest Park. Walking or biking distance to everything.
Wydown Forest is a prized neighborhood that is centrally located in Clayton. Located behind the corner of Hanley and Wydown, this neighborhood is tree-lined and, due to the small lots and shallow set-backs, exudes a "Vieille Ville" charm. Most of the homes were built between the mid-1920s through mid-1930s in period revival styles. The homes carry many architectural details that are often only seen in larger homes. A few of the homes were even designed by the famed St. Louis luxury architecture firm of Maritz & Young. One of the more affordable Clayton neighborhoods, sold prices range from the $300s to the mid $600s for larger, more up-to-date homes. If there were such a thing as a price-to-walkability ratio, Wydown Forest might have the best in town. Residents enjoy walking to Downtown Clayton, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington University, and the metro-link for quick access to BJC, Busch Stadium and St. Louis City. If you are a runner or cyclist, the neighborhood is an ideal starting point for a trip down Wydown Blvd to Forest Park, the Zoo, the Science Center, the History Museum and much, much more.
  • Jason is a lovely host, very responsive and polite. His place is in a great location and very charming. We felt very much at home.

  • Convenient location in the owner's personal home. Many extras as a result (real kitchen) very comfortable and well decorated.

    Anne2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was a responsive, helpful, and friendly host. His place was in a convenient location for our weekend in St. Louis and was a great value. Would highly recommend booking if looking in the area.

    Brandon2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is wonderful. It is comfortable, well stocked with all you need for a relaxing stay. Jason is a terrific host who makes you feel instantly welcome. He met us at the unit so he could show us where the bikes were and the laundry. He gave us tips about restaurants and other services in the neighborhood- we loved walking down to wonderful dining right in our block!!! Great location! Had a parking pass for our car- which was incredibly convenient. We will stay here again!! Fell in love with the apartment, and the neighborhood

    Suzanne2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Jason’s property. It remains a lovely place in a wonderful ritzy Clayton neighborhood. The apt is clean, fully equipped with all the appropriate amenities including washer and dryer (in basement). The best part is location, location, location. Within a few feet of a Starbucks, deli, diner, a few higher end restaurants. Jason is a great host. One of the best we have dealt with. The only negative (which is not Jason’s fault) is awful cellular reception.

    Geoffrey2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was terrific in responding to questions and problems. There was a serious problem in that I could not adjust the bedroom steam radiator, and he came over on Thanksgiving day with a wrench to shut it off. While I am not happy about the heat not being adjustable from the beginning, I give him huge points for friendly, fast responsiveness. Note that the wifi comes from the Starbucks downstairs, so it's available only during Starbucks hours, which are extensive but not 24/7. Many thanks to Jason for opening his home. He provided some nice extra touches that were appreciated.

    Steve2017-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Jason was a warm and hospitable host and has a cozy apartment in a great location. The apartment was clean, comfortably furnished and the kitchen was well stocked. We appreciated the off-street parking. Easy access to restaurants and downtown Clayton.

Terrific location from the airport and more. They even offer great suggestions for shopping, dining or whatever you may need. Thank you for your terrific hospitality.

  • Christine and her family were lovely. They made me feel right at home and comfortable. They were so nice and even took the time to ask me about myself and why I was traveling to St Louis, making sure to periodically follow up on how I was doing. I especially loved their dog, Bella and cat, Jasmine, who gave the greatest cuddles! I would definitely stay here again next time I am in the area.

Quiet residential neighborhood that is close to Washington University and Forest Park.
  • We had a lovely stay in this apartment. We were only there for one night but it had everything we needed. I especially enjoyed the abundant hot water for my shower. The apartment was close to everything in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We were able to book the apartment on very short notice and everything was ready for us. We also appreciated the relatively early check in time as we had been traveling since early morning.

    Rebecca2016-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth and Maureen's apartment was perfect for my vacation. I met up with a friend for a few days. The apartment was located about 2 miles from the park the zoo is located in. We were able to walk to a lot of the things we wanted to see. Parking is on street but wasn't an issue. The check in and out process was very easy and the apartment was clean when we got there. No complaints here!!! I would stay at one of their apartments again. Oh, and we only heard people in the hall and if they walked around in the apartment above us. So noise level isn't bad.

  • The apartment was very neat and clean! Check in and check out was supper easy. It was very very hot outside when we stayed so we appreciated being able to control the thermostat.

  • Cute little apartment in a great location. Communication was great and check in/ out was super easy. Free parking in front of the building. This is a second floor apartment in an older building so you could occasionally hear the neighbors moving about, but nothing so bad as to sour our stay. Just worth noting. Overall, a good experience.

You will love staying at my dream home in Clayton, the heart of St. Louis, MO. My home has been written up in the “At Home” section of the St. Louis Post Dispatch and described as a “Chateau in the European Countryside”.Full of character and personality, the intricate and detailed decor, will make you feel warm and welcome. The guest room’s decor is very peaceful and (Website hidden by Airbnb) has a beautiful corner window overlooking the garden. I’m sure you’re going to LOVE staying here! Nice to meet you!
The moment you walk into the guest room, a wonderful sense of calm washes over you. It smells and feels fresh, and peaceful, with a light scent of essential oils in the air. The guest room is decorated in light hues of French gray, aqua, and khaki, which makes me feel like I’ve entered a spa! It’s a very large room, so it feels more like a suite. You can work at the desk, relax on the lounge, and watch t.v. without feeling like you’re cooped up in a room. It sits on the back of the house and has a beautiful corner window, which overlooks the back of the house. The brick patio is original to this (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) house, which gives the back the charming character that you don’t get in newer homes. If you love character in a house, this is the place for you. It will feel rather private, as I’m out or in my room often, which also feels like a suite! In other words, you can be in the house, and still have a wonderful sense of privacy, even though you’re in a home! OPTION: In house massage... If Spa pampering sounds good to you, then you’re in for a treat! I have a licensed massage therapist, Ed Barr, who will come to the house and give you the best massage ever! He’s amazing! If he wasn’t the BEST, I wouldn’t have chosen him ;) You can have your massage in your room, or in front of the fireplace, with music, low lighting, candles, and essential oils. Truly heavenly! His fees: $85 one hour massage (Website hidden by Airbnb) $105 for 90 minutes Couples massage is another wonderful option! Please refer to pictures at the end of the listing photos. Ed Barr... My neighborhood is called Davis place. It’s a beautiful well established neighborhood from the 1920s. Has sidewalks and tree-lined streets… With the elementary school within the neighborhood. I am in love with my location because I can walk almost anywhere. I can walk to three different Starbucks… Shaw Park, which has a beautiful water fountain… Downtown Clayton, where there are many wonderful trendy restaurants… Easy highway access… Across the street from the Galleria Mall and movie theater… A bowling alley, Ice-skating rink, pool, and work out facilities. I have a very large back yard with a wonderful set up if you are traveling with your dog. There is an additional fee of $30 per day. They will be safe and secure within a fenced in area in my back yard. They will stay in the basement where there is a walkout doggie door, so they’re free to come in and out as they please. If they are good off of the leash, I have a huge yard for you to throw a tennis ball, or whatever, so that the two of you are happy together! As long as they don’t run off… I leave that to your discretion. I do not allow the pets to be in or sleep with you in the room… However they can have access to the kitchen gated area, and possibly the rest of the house when you are around on a case-by-case basis, depending on how they do with my dog.
  • Nancy has a beautiful Victorian home that is like going back in time. The minute you walk in, it exudes warmth as well as Nancy, the hostess, and her friendly dog Bella. There is plenty of parking and a nice area to enjoy in the back (when the weather is warm). The rooms are beautifully decorated and there is a separate bathroom for guests to use. I loved the historic touches that were evident in the home. This home is very close to the major roadways but yet feels like it is in the suburbs. The neighborhood is peaceful and tree-filled. There is a shopping mall and restaurants within walking distance. There is a MetroLink station nearby but I am told that you may want to avoid it given the recent rash of crimes. So you could take the MetroLink from the airport to her home, but probably best to take a car for the time being. I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit to St. Louis.

  • My wife and I stayed with Nancy during our wedding weekend in St. Louis and she was the perfect host. She was so easy to work with, kind, helpful, and offered to decorate the room and pick up a bottle of champagne for our wedding night. She is also super fun. Would stay with her again and would highly recommend for your next visit to St. Louis.

  • Nancy's room was comfortable and Nancy was very quick to respond and friendly. We appreciated that this was in a very safe neighborhood with a long private driveway and a place to park our car in the back. We stayed here while driving across the country and had a lot of valuables in the car, so that was a plus!

  • Nacy was a great host! Beautiful room and house! And in a very convenient location!

  • Nancy is a welcoming host with a beautiful home. It was a well represented and very good location. Just a short easy drive to Washington University.

  • This was our first stay at an Air B&B. We weren't sure what to expect. Everything was amazing. Nancy is a wonderful hostess. Her house is cozy, quiet, and so comfortable. Her added touches of extra towels, coffee, snacks, and water bottles was a nice touch. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stay here.

  • Nancy, her home and our experience was absolutely amazing! Such a cool house and beautiful room amd set up. Beautiful classic Clayton are house staying true to it's roots in structure and decor. She has a beautiful garden area in back which is the whole reason I rented here, originally. BUT there are many reasons after our experience that if I could give 10 stars I would. I rented here to set up a beautiful outdoor private chef cooked meal for my husband for our anniversary. Nancy was so quick to respond to questions I had and was beyond accommodating in everything I wanted to do. I set up the garden with candles everywhere, string lights, some flowers, but shebalready had plenty of beautiful ones in her garden that made it more perfect. Nancy was out there even with a leaf blower right before, blowing leaves from all.of the trees in back right before so it would look perfect! And then, just as everything was going almost too perfectly for the evening, about 20 min before my husband was supposed to arrive for the surprise, I cut my finger pretty bad and deep with my scissors i was using to cut some of the decorations I brought to put up. Nancy, did not have to do this, nor would I expect most people to, but she jumped into high gear and got me doctored and bandaged up! Wow! Unexpected Little twist in the night that made for a story to tell later sitting there for our anniversary in this beautiful setting, all dressed up wothba bandaged up finger. But she did so much to make sure webwere going to have a beautiful night, and we did. She did not have to do anything she did. But ultimately, the night and setting was perfect! I am very thankful and would highly recommend staying here.

  • If you are looking for a place well located, full of character, art and a flavor of France to stay in St Louis, then The Fox Chateau is your place. My daughter and I went on a little getaway and this place was perfect for our "Mother and daughter pampering time". The room is spacious, very inviting, relaxing, and beautifully decorated. We could see that Nancy prepared it with a lot of attention to details. Everything was top quality, including the (pampering) amenities. The bed was very comfortable with soft and good quality linen and pillows. There is a lounge chair, perfect to relax and read a book while we enjoy some good complementary tea. The bathroom is very bright and clean and has updated bath/shower, soft white towels, soap, body lotion and hair products. The kitchen has all you need to prepare homemade meals or whatever if you like it. Although my daughter and I did not spend much time in the other common areas of the house, we notice that the house is full of very interesting and unique art pieces. There are fox themed ornaments and decorations of many sizes and kinds. My daughter loves foxes, so this was very exciting for her! We did indeed felt like we were in The Fox Chateau. The location is amazing! We went for a run around the neighborhood. There are quite streets near by, as well as a great stores and restaurants, a mall and a park all within walking distance. Public transportation is also an option if that is your preference. I booked this place as a surprise for my daughter. Once Nancy learned all about my plans for the gateway, she went above and beyond to make our time at her house unforgettable. So much so that my daughter and I now call her our Fairy Godmother. If I could give Nancy 100 stars for her service and place i would :). Ps: She has a two adorable fur friends, a dog that will make you feel part of the family and a cat that you only know it's there because there are some dishes with food and water for him. I am allergic to these kind of animals, but this place was worth for me to take some anti-allergies meds so I could enjoy it.

  • Christine is terrific. This was the second time she hosted me. This is right across the street from where she lives and the house is very cozy, nice and cool (fans/AC) even when muggy. Great sitting room for watching TV and a kitchen much nicer than mine in real life!! I was there for the opera festival which involves a lot of sitting so I asked her for a yoga class recommendation, which she happily provided. Will definitely stay again next year if I can.

  • Nice place, great communication!

    Franz2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Christine’s place was wonderful. Very quiet and sweet home. I loved the sun room. The kitchen was great and the bed was very comfortable. Christine is an excellent host and responds right away to messages. She went above and beyond to set up my son’s pack and play crib for us ahead of time so we could go right to sleep when we arrived late our first night. Very good location too.

  • I can’t say a lot about the space, as I didn’t use it to its capacity, but it was a very cute home. The room I stayed in was clean, and had what I needed and what was mentioned in the listing. I’d recommend to anyone passing through!

    Tia2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a great space - clean, neat and close to all the St. Louis has to offer. Christine is among the best hosts my wife and I have ever met in over 60 AirBnB rentals over the last several years. The house is comfortable and the beds are very good. Parking is off street and easy to access. You cannot go wrong with this unit.

    Stan2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Christine’s place for a short last minute visit to St. Louis. She was very good about communication and accommodating with my check in. Very cool yoga space on the lower level.

    Danielle2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was beyond a room. The whole house was available for Airbnb guests that included use of the yoga studio and mediation room. Christine and Gary are very friendly and helpful. I felt like I was being very well taken care of. Christine is the best host I have stayed with. I will always seek out Christine for friends and family when we need a place to stay.

  • I had a fantastic stay at John's house during my time in St. Louis. John is a incredible host and is very keen to make your stay at his place as comfortable as possible. He is a very (very, very...) funny guy with an awesome knowledge of the City. During my 4 weeks internship at a law firm in St. Louis John drove me every day to the law firm. On my free days he showed me a lot of areas in and around St. Louis, for example the community of the Amish near Bowling Green! John's house, located in a quiet area, is clean and comfortable. If you need to buy something, you can ask John to drive you to the next Wallmart or just go by yourself to Schnucks, which is only 3 minutes away from John's place. John taught me "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" - it's probably the reason why you find always apples in his kitchen :) Thank you John for making my stay at your place so wonderful. I really enjoyed this great time!

  • It was fun getting to know Mr. John Lowe, a dedicated St. Louis ambassador. His wonderful, ever-evolving generous kitchen offerings quickly adapted for hosting herbivores. Easy conversation, friendly, funny and oh so helpful. We contacted John practically on the eve of Christmas. He welcomed us during the holidays and it contributed to a smoother holiday than we have had in years. Thanks John! You are a wonderful host.

  • Home is on a dead end in a quiet area, but within 20 minutes of everything we wanted to visit. John was a great host and a wealth of information.

  • Offered to make tea for me -- made sure everything was available. Sweet guy.

  • First of all, this is a very nice place to stay when considering taking a tour of St. Louis. Me and my wife went to the Botanical Garden, the Arch, Washington University, and the Zoo, and everything was close by. The host, John, is very friendly. It was nice of him to give us snacks to eat during our touring of St. Louis. No problem in walking in and out even during late hours. The area seems pretty safe, so no worries about that. Because it is at the end of the road, parking is real easy. It's not a 5-star hotel, but it is a great place to make memories.

    Jae Kyun2014-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very plesent time at John's house, he was very welcoming and offered to take me where ever I needed to go. He really opened his house and fridge to make you feel at home.

    Jens2011-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • I just moved to St. Louis, but needed a place to stay until my apartment was ready. John was very welcoming, outgoing, and helpful from the moment we met until the day he dropped me off at my new home. He picked me up at my hotel (all of my luggage in tow) drove me to the house, and then continued to give me a ride to work every morning. Above and beyond doesn't even come close to describing John's acts of kindness and generosity. Breakfast was prepared every morning and he even made sure I got my vitamin C. He has a wealth of information on St. Louis, the entire area and places abroad as well. I had a wonderful time visiting him and I thoroughly enjoyed our morning conversations over coffee and the news. We even watched the Oscars together, and I was fascinated by his stories of Hollywood, when he lived there. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was good, and the house itself was very comfortable. I am so glad I found John's place, and look forward to staying in touch now that I live here.

    Tom2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • As the other reviews indicate, John is a genuinely hospitable host who wants his guests to have a good experience. He is very helpful and courteous. His home is on a very quiet street surrounded by greenery and not far from a municipal park. It is very peaceful.

Steps away from downtown Clayton and all the great restaurants and nightlife offered there! Clayton's business district is the perfect mix of bustle and quiet. You'll feel like you're in suburban neighborhood but have all the convenience of the city just steps away from the front door.
  • Place and location was great! The only issue was there were ants in the kitchen when we arrived. Also the rooms were a bit echo-y but I suppose that comes with an older building. The crew answered to our needs pretty quickly though. But I probably wouldn't say it was worth the amount in all honesty.

  • Kyle's place is in a great location. A metro stop is within a block, and several places to eat right next door. The little coffee shop across the street has excellent food. It was in an apartment building and very secure. No problems with noise or rowdy neighbors. The bed was very comfortable and there was a very nice TV in the apartment. Would stay again if back in that area.

  • Great location and apartment! Perfect for our short stay in St. Louis. Pet friendly with great amenities.

    Liz2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • We are family of 3 stayed at there for 4 nights at the end of August 2019. Here are pros and cons: Pros: nicely located closed to Washington University in St. Louis which is my daughter attending to, it’s about 3 minutes driving distance to their main campus; parking on the street is pretty easy to find and ok to parked overnight; kitchen has been remodeled with new appliances, brand new fridge; hot water in shower is sufficient even though the hot and cold was installed reversely, but its still ok; bed is comfortable, beddings are thick and clean, pillows are okay to sleep on; A/C is new, nice and cool! Good job on A/C. Cons: the unit is on the 2nd floor of a much older building, I would say it’s probably pre war. So everything in the unit including Wood floor, wall, closet, doors are vintage with old smell. Walking with squeaking noises, building with less insulation, so you can pretty much hear people upstairs talking and walking, lucky the upstairs people left 2 days early than us, so we are fine to sleep alone for a couple days. Outside road construction started their heavy noise about 7am, windows are covered with plastic thin blinders, no curtains, very bright and sunny in the early morning, so if you are a day sleeper, then it could be a problem; the shampoo , conditioner, or shower gel dispensers were missing, and later we found the 5 gallons bottles of shampoo and conditioner at the bottom of cabinet, as I always carry my own toiletries, so we wouldn’t need theirs, i notified the host immediately, but no response until the check out day; there were only 1 roll of toilet paper at the time we checked in ( wouldn’t be easy to figure out 3 people for 4 nights need at least 2 rolls of toilet paper?) i messaged the host, and they have a lady to deliver a couple rolls to us the next day. kitchen and bathroom is lacking necessary supplies, I guess if you are 1 person and come in and out, it’s ok, definitely not recommend for family. I have been stayed at AirBNB for quiet some times globally, all nice and homey AirBNBs are representing their thoughtful and sincere hosts, and often these hosts are making more money as well.

  • This place was a great location for visiting our child at WASHU. It’s a great price point and the space is very livable. Like others I would say it is an older building so it’s a bit noisy from the floor above and the bathroom is on the small side. However the hosts were communicative, bathroom towels fluffy and the area is safe with a great morning coffee/pastry shop across the street.

  • Great place to stay in a comfortable home with friendly, responsive hosts. The location is a quiet suburban neighborhood, with easy access to attractions if you have your own transportation. If you are looking for a place to relax 'at home' between outings in St Louis, this is your place to be!

    Forrest2018-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa and Ruth are very friendly and selfless people. Their home was beautiful and comfortable beyond my expectations. I was continually impressed by the hosts' generosity in many small things. The place was well decorated with lot of picture frames displayed (taken by Lisa and her father). As I moved to Missouri last week, I was feeling homesick and they made sure I had that "Home" feeling. Ruth made me coffee every morning. Even when I had to leave to work early morning, they made sure that I had my coffee. Lisa made breakfast for me and they also invited me to have dinner with their family. I enjoyed having conversations with all of them. You MUST try their home made "granola". Haven't done research on what to do in St. Louis?: Don't worry, they both suggested me places to explore and sent me restaurant links which I might like. One day, we went for dinner and had the best Barbeque ribs!(I bet you won't get this experience with all the Airbnb). They are special, they care about the people who stay at their place. You will end up making two amazing friends. I'm a book lover and the room I was staying had a lot of books (Excellent collection from fiction to non fiction). They have a dog, Duke. I was always scared around dogs but Duke is very sweet and I fell in love with him. After this experience, I started to feel comfortable with dogs. Their home is closer to Forest park, Movie theatres, plenty of restaurants, The Hill and many more. The experience they provided is an absolute steal for the price, and I would love to visit again and again. This place is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Old Orchard is a cozy, inviting home in the quiet residential area of Webster Groves. It is a charming example of 1920's architecture, featuring arched doorways, original wood floors and molding, and an over-sized bedroom with large windows to view the outside trees and greenery. Lockwood Park across the street is a stone's throw away and offers an outlet for walking and enjoying nature.
Enjoy the luminous chandelier above the burled walnut bed, circa 1860. Private bath featuring a period-tiled floor, jacuzzi and shower combination complete your accommodations. After a long day, enjoy the large deck that reaches into the tree tops of surrounding locust, pine and magnolia trees.
Webster Groves has a small town atmosphere. It is safe and quiet. It has two local business areas to eat, shop, and browse. The city's neighborhood, Webster Groves, features the finest examples of home architecture. Webster University provides cultural affairs (including the Repertory Theater and Opera St. Louis) in a collegial environment. We are conveniently centered amongst a multitude of St. Louis' attractions such as the St. Louis Zoo, The Arch, Science Center / Planetarium, Art Museum, Magic House, The Museum of Transportation, and Butterfly House.
  • Good choice if in the area for something at Webster or Opera Theater of St. Louis. Tucked into a quiet residential part of WG but with easy access to Interstate 44.

  • Very comfortable and homey. It is in a beautiful neighborhood, and we were able to walk to my niece's. Marion had so many special touches around the house. As we arrived she was taking cranberry nut muffins out of the oven, which we were able to have with coffee on the love seat in the morning. We really enjoyed it. Thanks to you both for your hospitality. Beth and Gary

  • This is a great find in Webster Groves! My son attends school at Webster Conservatory, and there are no hotels in Webster Groves, so I have had to stay at least 15 minutes away most of the time. Being able to be a mile from his home was a treat! Marian and Gary's place is exactly as described, charming and comfortable with the sweetest cat. The bedroom is well-equipped and extremely comfortable. The bed is a double bed so might be a little small for a couple, but it was very comfortable and the bedding was great. There's a separate seating area, a space heater, a dresser and a wardrobe. There is even a little kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle. They go above and beyond to make sure that guests are well supplied with nutritious snacks in addition to offering breakfast in the morning. The bathroom also was well-equipped and had anything one might need. The shower was very good. Gary and Marian were hospitable and conversational, but also allowed me to relax on my own. They made very clear which areas of the house I was welcome to be in and where I could find them if I needed anything. I will definitely be back and recommend them to other family visiting my son.

  • Wonderful time staying with Marian and Gary! They were hospitable and kind, provided me with delicious homemade food, and nice conversation too. Home was very cute and close to Webster University campus.

  • Marian and Gary’s place is in a very sweet area of Webster Groves, across from a park. Total Bed and Breakfast feel- everything was great- toiletries were very helpful!

    Emma2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Marian & Gary’s place is totally lovely. Quiet, beautiful room; fun “country in the city” back deck; delicious breakfast but most of all they are welcoming and interesting hosts. The room is extremely nice with little extras such as snacks and fruit on the table and yogurt and orange juice in the little fridge. They even put out wine glasses when we mentioned we may have wine on the deck. We did do that and it was relaxing and fun. The house is light and airy with lots of art and unique spaces. A delicious homemade breakfast is included. Highly recommend. We will stay again.

    Cathy2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay! Quiet, private, continental breakfast w/good coffee, very comfortable bed, very clean, and Marian & Gary are wonderful hosts. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I recommend Marian & Gary's place to everyone!

This unit located in a quiet neighborhood, it's the center of St. Louis, near downtown of Clayton, easy access to Highway I-40/64, 5 minutes walk to bus station, shopping malls, a lot of great restaurants around, minutes walk distance to Metro-link station, 10-minutes drive to Washington University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Mary hospitals, SLU hospital, St. Luke hospital. W/D included. Free Wi-fi. smart TV, Leather coach and recliner in living room. Parking in garage, more park spots on Str.
  • This was a very nice place for the time I was in St. Louis. The area is very nice. Lots of young families and close to all the shopping you need. It is, however, a little sparse. For example, I had to buy hand soap as there wasn’t any in the Airbnb.Michelle is very prompt, polite, and fixed any issue I had very quickly. I would stay here again.

    Alexia2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great host! I stayed in this apartment for 3 months for a travel nurse assignment and since I got an extension I am staying 3 more. Michelle always responds extremely quickly and has done a great job with making me feel comfortable and welcome. There were a few minor bumps during my stay that were taken care of quickly and efficiently. Definitely recommend!

    Michael2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Place was exactly as described. Perfect for my weeklong stay! Michelle was quick to communicate and very accommodating.

    Jeremy2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location. This place is in the cutest/safest area in St. Louis. Just minutes from tons of restaurants and bars. Also, only a 10 min (tops) drive to the local hospital- Barnes Jewish. We stayed there for three months and it was great! I would say if you’re a traveling nurse and are working nightshift- bring blackout curtains and other creative things to block out the light. This place has awesome natural lighting which rocks if you’re actually sleeping at normal times, but can be a bit bright for those fellow vampires out there. Other than that, you have everything you need here and Michelle is super accommodating and helpful! Would def stay here again!! Highly recommended!

This charming, light-filled cottage feels like its own private hideaway, yet it's close to everything St. Louis has to offer. Tucked between trees in a quiet Maplewood neighborhood, it's a 15-minute walk to the MetroLink and a 10-minute drive to Washington University, Webster University, Fontbonne University, Forest Park, and Clayton. Business travelers and families alike will appreciate the washer/dryer, fast WIFI and cable TV.
The cottage sleeps four, with a queen bed in the loft and a sleeper sofa downstairs.
  • Michael was the perfect host. Full disclosure, we know Michael from Chicago so I know I might be biased, but it was simply a lovely time. It's easy to get anywhere from their place and the setting is so peaceful and serene. The place is super cute and it was nice to come back and relax after playing all day in St. Louis.

    Malia2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house is beautiful. It was perfect for traveling with our two young kids. Close to everything. Nice touches of having milk, coffee, water, beer, and a few foods available. Everything was clean and neat.

    Amber2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place is amazing and unique. Modern construction with antiqued highlights, were a nice touch. Michael was very responsive even after being called out of town on family matters, having a friend tend to any issues and questions I had after arrival. I highly recommend Michael's place to anyone visiting St. Louis.

    Philip2018-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We were thoroughly impressed with Micheal’s guest house set up. We came to St Louis for a weekend getaway and to explore a city we hadn’t been too before. Micheal’s guest house was the perfect peaceful home base to come back to from our adventures. Not only was it clean and well taken care of and had all the basics you might need (from laundry soap to coffee and tea with sugar and cream) but there was also so many thoughtful and considerate touches throughout the house. Just a few of the touches that went above and beyond were: Netflix app on the tv and instructions on how to get to it so you can watch your own Netflix while on vacation and a binder filled with information on local transportation, history and some things to do in town. Micheal was also very prompt to take care of any issues that came up while still giving us our privacy. We had discovered of the AC units leaking during our stay and he immediately responded and resolved the issue to the best of his ability. All in all I would highly recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to St Louis :)

We were the first people to stay in the apartment and there were a few kinks to work out. He was right there to help. All in all it was a great stay.

  • Apartment is stylish filled with character. Everything was clean and as described. A slight glitch checking in, was given wrong apartment to go to, very nice gentleman renting that space contacted caretaker and got us to to correct space one floor down. Wood floors were kind of squeaky but that should kind of be expected with a charming 1920’s building. Overall the stay was quite pleasant.

Our house is located within walking distance of Wash U, downtown Clayton, Forest Park (museums, zoo, etc.), and a Metrolink station (to access downtown/airport without driving there). If it's in STL, it's accessible from this location! We've got three guest rooms and a stand-alone guest bathroom, so larger groups are welcome, as are pets and children. We do have a large-ish dog, FYI, but she's very friendly. We're looking forward to having you, and we do make breakfast upon request!
We only ever rent to one group at a time, so you'll have 1.5 bathrooms all to yourself. We have three guest bedrooms, all connected by the upper floor hallway to the full guest bathroom. The half bath is downstairs and is useful if you're a larger group. Two of the bedrooms are from the original 1937 house and have lots of character (built-in radiators, hardwood everything), and the last bedroom was part of a more recent addition.
  • We had a wonderful stay with Kevin and Janie. The house is perfectly located. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and close to some of the best areas in St. Louis. The accommodations could not have been better. Comfortable beds and a living area to relax and watch some Blues Hockey after a long day of shopping. This place is ideal for those traveling and want to stay in a nice safe neighborhood close to everything. Very much recommend to everyone.

  • My boyfriend and I stayed in Hannah’s apartment the night before an early flight out of St Louis airport, as we live about 2 hours from the airport. It was only about a 15 min drive from the airport. It was perfect for staying in a nice area in St Louis. It is Hannah’s actual home which is not always common on Airbnb and she has great taste and organization for keeping everything cute and easy! We would definitely stay there again.

  • Our stay was great. Be prepared to park a little distance away from the house. We were not allowed to park on property and it stormed the day after. So we had to walk back in the rain. David was great, he greeted us upon our check in. He does live upstairs so at times we did hear people walking around or coming down the steps. The beds were so comfortable and the home was exactly as described in the picture. We did spot a little mold in the bathroom. Overall it was a great stay, we would come back.

  • My family and I couldn't have asked for more during our stay at Zina and Davids sweet retreat! This house is beautiful and warmly decorated. We loved the art work and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to prepare and reheat food, along with a beautiful dining room equipped with stereo to enjoy a meal. Both bedrooms have the most comfy beds with plenty of pillows and soft bedding. Everything we wanted to see or do was very close by. Additionally, the community swimming pool at Heman Park was a perfect way to end a hot summer evening and super close to the house. I highly recommend staying at this airbnb!!! Patty2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Overall, it was a great experience. Check in and check out were incredibly smooth. The apartment pictures were very accurate, and it was a great place in town close to everywhere that I needed. The kitchen was well stocked and we overall really enjoyed our stay.

  • We had a great time and the apartment was perfect for our weekend in town. My two boys crashed on the couches, and we took the bedroom. We loved the location and it was great having a kitchen. This was our first time using Airbnb, and we are really happy with our experience. Richard & Kelly were great hosts. Thanks!

    Matthew2014-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Richard and Kelly's place was great. It was clean and comfortable. They emailed us a few days prior to our arrival with helpful information and made the whole experience very easy. I would certainly recommend this place to others and would stay here again the next time I'm back in St. Louis

    Kyle2014-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great apartment! Only had. Short stay but it was convenient, cozy, and clean! Definitely recommend!

    Theresa2014-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Richard and Kelly ! This adorable apt was perfect for our visit with my nephew ! We were 5 min from Wash U ... And downtown was an easy drive ! The City Museum and Arch are a must see ! St Louis Art Museum and the Campbell House made this trip fabulous ! We loved coming home to our sweet apt at night .... Thanks again !

    Susan2015-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • My fiancée and I stayed overnight at Richard & Kelly's and we were both very pleased. It was exactly like the pictures, functional, fairly comfortable, quiet and in a safe and accessible neighborhood. Cool old building with a lot of character, close to the city. We had very little contact with the hosts, but everything was simple and straight-forward and they were helpful through AirBnb messaging. Just one tip for travelers, bring your own paper products. The cleaning person left only 1/2 roll of toilet paper, 3 tissues and a little bit of paper towels in the kitchen. Not a big deal, we just had to run out really late and buy our own. Other than that, great experience. Recommend.

Relax in your peaceful home away from home while you visit Webster University or friends/family in Webster Groves! This is the perfect place from which to assist children getting settled in at WU or for visiting kids and grandkid who live in town. Peg's Place offers comfort, privacy and convenience. City certified by Webster Groves you can rest assured it stands up to strict standards. Guarantee your booking and receive a 10% discount!
Previous guests love the privacy, spaciousness, SleepNumber Bed and easy access Webster University. It is important that guests feel comfortable descending and ascending the 10 oak stairs that provides private access to a lower level suite. Railings on both sides of the stairs facilitate the trip up and down. Unless you have been here before, Peg likes to meet and greet you. Park in the driveway and bring your luggage in through the front door. Peg will facilitate check-in and get you oriented to the space. After check-in, access to the space is gained through a private entrance in the back of the house. A walk around to the back door requires that guests go through a gate and across a flagstone path to the back patio.
Webster University is less than a mile away by car and 5 long, walking blocks on foot. The Loretto-Hilton Theatre and St. Louis Opera Theatre are located on the campus. Webster is proud of its many beautiful parks, three of which are within walking distance from Peg's Place. A 3/4 mile walk to Blackburn Park, Webster's crown jewel, offers a peaceful and beautiful opportunity to stretch your legs. Southwest Park, home of the Webster Historical Society, is a lovely 3/4 mile walk in the other direction. Memorial Park, home of the Webster Recreation Complex, is located on the other side of Peg's Place's back gate. While visiting Webster, you might enjoy spending some time in Old Webster, an area of quaint shops and upscale, fabulous restaurants. After dinner, you might take a short stroll around the Webster Groves Sculpture Garden. Clover and Bee and Half and Half are great places for breakfast. Olive and Oak, The Block, and The Sushi Station offer excellent dinner menus. Robust offers a selection of fine wines, luscious cocktails and small plates. In addition there are great Mexican and Pizza restaurants with coffee, ice cream and cookie stores tucked in between uniquely creative retail shops. Get in your car and take a 10 minute drive to Maplewood, the next town over. If you get there early enough, experience a one-of-a-kind donut from Strange Donuts. Traveling through downtown Maplewood on foot, I recommend a browse through Penzy's Spices, Vom Fass Oils, Vinegars and Spirits, Kakao Chocolate Factory, Pie, Oh My! and Traveling Tea Company. Delightful surprises present themselves in each of these venues. Complete your visit with lunch or dinner at The Mayan Cafe where you will discover a menu filled with creative and healthy entrees and brews.
  • Peg was incredibly hospitable, her place is very comfortable and makes you feel right at home. Webster Groves was an excellent (and really beautiful) location to be near St. Louis.

    Chris2019-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peg is a wonderful host with a spotless, comfortable and quiet space for her guests. Great location within minutes of everything I need to do in the Webster Groves area. I appreciate all of the little conveniences she provides. Always feel right at home staying here. I will definitely be back!

    Suzanne2018-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay!! Clean, newly renovated and wonderful hospitality. Webster Groves is easy driving to downtown St. Louis so Peg's Place is just right for a get away from the hustle and bustle.

    Sally2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Peg's Place is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. It is easy to get to from the highway. There is a wet bar with refrigerator, a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee available. The bedroom is spacious with plenty of closet space and drawer space. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom has a supply of just about anything you may have forgotten to bring. It's a great place to stay.

    Connie2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • You will enjoy Peg’s place. An oasis in Webster Groves! Clean & comfortable and a great location.

    Jessica2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Peg went all out! Super clean. Our area was private from the main house, which was extra nice. Spacious area. The whole experience was beyond expectations.

    Carole2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Peg was a very helpful and friendly host. Apartment clean, comfortable, and very cosy. Would highly recommend. Everything we needed and more was provided. Would gladly return another time.

    Marian2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Peg's Place is a pleasant one bedroom apartment in the basement, but has large windows from a sloping lot that make the bedroom bright and cheery. The entertainment system is terrific, and Peg has a large and interesting CD/DVD collection available for use. The wet bar is well-equipped. Peg is a delight, friendly, helpful and informative. We have stayed here twice, to attend the Opera Theatre of St. Louis at Webster University, only 1.5 miles away. The Webster groves area is charming, and we will gladly come back to Peg's Place!

  • This apartment is simply the best ... it's quiet and convenient, with all the amenities provided. Like a home away from home! Thank you Richard and Kelly for another wondeful visit. We plan to be back soon...!

    William2015-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised great apartment in a super location. Richard was very accommodating even when I arrived at the wrong apartment and struggled with the wifi code. A very responsive host. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to St Louis. It puzzles me why anyone would rent a hotel room for more money when a place like this is available. Highly recommended.

    Stace2015-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • I visit St. Louis a few times a year to visit my daughter, and this is the 3rd time I've stayed here. I really love this apartment. It's clean, the perfect size, comfortable bed, great kitchen, and located near everything. The wifi worked great. Thank you again for helping to make my trip a great one.

    Jeffrey2015-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great apartment for us. We walked to nearby stores for snacks and met sociable neighbors along the way. It is also close to a freeway on-ramp so it doesn't take long to get to where you're going in St. Louis. Richard & Kelly responded to emails quickly. Thank you for this positive experience.

    Christine2015-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kenneth and Maureen were very accommodating with my arriving late in the evening. The apartment was clean and fully furnished. It's a good location, with easy access to the highway. The only difficulty was when the wireless internet connection went down, but Kenneth responded quickly and got it fixed.

    Kevin2016-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts were wonderful. They gave very cleared directions and were always available when needed. Very clean place and the apartment looks like the pictures. The location is very close to downtown St. Louis and by the expressway, which is even better. Overall, a great place to stay.

    Felisa2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was just fine. It was clean, and the very large bed was very comfortable. It's nothing fancy, or especially charming, but certainly adequate. When we had trouble with NETFLIX Richard responded promptly to solve the problem. There are beautiful old homes in the neighborhood, which made for nice walks, and runs, however it isn't within walking distance of any charming commercial districts. I certainly think the pricing was fair. Sincerely, Katherine and Bruce Dichter

    Bruce2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was near lots of things that we were familiar with and great for walking. There is a whole foods and schnucks close by and several restaurants. Maplewood is very close and there is lots to do there.

Entire apartment of a young professional when I am out of town. This is a low rise apartment on the first floor located near Clayton and steps to the MetroLink line for easy access to downtown. Somewhat cozy feel with earthy décor. Across the street from neighborhood pub, coffee shop, and food option. Clayton is ~10-15 min walk for additional restaurant options and grocery store. Washer/dryer available in building. Outside parking also available.
  • Ari's apartment is a great value located in a cute neighborhood, close to most everything we needed and less than a couple miles from the Delmar Loop, where we frequented many restaurants. Ari was communicative and kept in touch regarding the check-in/check-out process, address, parking instructions, and just to make sure we arrived okay. The check-in and check-out process was easy and convenient for our schedule. He offered to provide an air mattress if our son joined us. I would recommend Ari's place to other travelers.

    Jackie2019-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ari’s place has all the essentials and is located in a convenient part of town. It was super easy to explore our favorite parts of the city and have a relaxing weekend visiting friends and family!

This 2BR relaxing home has everything you need! Centrally located (Brentwood) to all highways, public transportation, 15 min from downtown. Located on a quiet private street. 2 bedrooms with queen beds. The living room has a very large comfortable couch. (Great to sleep one more)
I have great neighbors, if you need to borrow a cup of sugar they will lend it to you.
This is a very quiet and active neighborhood, lots of people walking their dogs and enjoying the view of the pond. within walking distance to almost every store you could imagine. Down the street from the galleria mall and much much more.
  • The location of Wade's home is so perfect! It's so close anything you may need. The photos do not do his home justice. Super clean, super cute, the aesthetic is A1. I would definitely stay again if I return to St. Louis. Thank you Wade.

    Isabel2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Place was as described, and very clean. Wade let us know that a professional cleaner had just been through the place and it showed! There was no wifi, but that was my fault for not checking the description for it. I had booked way in advance and Wade's place was just what we needed- 2br, full apartment in a good neighborhood, still very close to St. Louis.

  • Very convenient location in St. Louis!

    Erin2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Listing was accurate. Space was prepared for our visit, however definitely a "bachelor pad" apartment. Functionally, the place met our needs for the weekend. Host made himself available as needed, yet gave us space/privacy as appropriate. Walking distance pond w/ geese and babies was a highlight and added to the quaintness of the stay. Overall, smooth process for sure! THANKS DEREK!

    Matthew2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Place is as advertised. Location is great. Host was great and accommodated a really early check in for us. Of note: NO WIFI or TV, second bed Is a full futon, and again NO WIFI (I missed this memo). Also, This may not be unusual, but the host appears to live in the apartment and just vacates when he has tenants. When I have used other sites in the past the property has always been a decided rentals so it caught me off guard, it was not a problem, just a FYI. It was a good place to stay overall.

    James2019-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Christine's place was wonderfully furnished and welcoming. She helped us find local locations for dinner and shopping and was always willing to help out with whatever we needed!

    Victoria2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Christine was extremely responsive to all questions and communications, and she and her husband were very very welcoming. They were relaxed and flexible about my shifting arrival time, which I really appreciated. Also welcoming were the totally sweet dog and hilarious cat that climbed all over me the moment I walked in--you do need to be ok with pets since their presence will be noticeable, but I loved them so had no problem with that! I was only there for a quick overnight--I got in kind of late and left extremely early the next morning, so I didn't have a lot of time to visit, but everything went very smoothly and I was very satisfied. Thank you!

    Jordan2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Christine goes out of her way to make sure your stay is comfortable! She is very flexible for whatever quirky needs you may have, and maintains open, quick and honest communication. We had a cancelled night flight that flew in the very next morning at the last minute, and Christine was the one to initiate talk of a partial and fair refund. I would highly recommend her place for anyone interested in staying in Kirk wood!

  • We loved staying at Basia's place! She was very prompt with answering our questions, and we were able to settle in without a hitch. We were in town to visit our alma mater, and we felt completely at home at her place -- almost like we never left the city! She also has the cutest, friendliest, most well-behaved dogs ever.
